  1. The LORD said to Moses and Aaron,
  2. "Say to the Israelites: 'Of all the animals that live on land, these are the ones you may eat:
  3. You may eat any animal that has a split hoof completely divided and that chews the cud.
  4. " 'There are some that only chew the cud or only have a split hoof, but you must not eat them. The camel, though it chews the cud, does not have a split hoof; it is ceremonially unclean for you.
  5. The coney, though it chews the cud, does not have a split hoof; it is unclean for you.
  1. And the LORD spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them,
  2. Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.
  3. Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat.
  4. Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
  5. And the coney, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
  1. The rabbit, though it chews the cud, does not have a split hoof; it is unclean for you.
  2. And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you.
  3. You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.
  4. " 'Of all the creatures living in the water of the seas and the streams, you may eat any that have fins and scales.
  5. But all creatures in the seas or streams that do not have fins and scales--whether among all the swarming things or among all the other living creatures in the water--you are to detest.
  1. And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
  2. And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.
  3. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.
  4. These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
  5. And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:
  1. And since you are to detest them, you must not eat their meat and you must detest their carcasses.
  2. Anything living in the water that does not have fins and scales is to be detestable to you.
  3. " 'These are the birds you are to detest and not eat because they are detestable: the eagle, the vulture, the black vulture,
  4. the red kite, any kind of black kite,
  5. any kind of raven,
  1. They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.
  2. Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.
  3. And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,
  4. And the vulture, and the kite after his kind;
  5. Every raven after his kind;
  1. the horned owl, the screech owl, the gull, any kind of hawk,
  2. the little owl, the cormorant, the great owl,
  3. the white owl, the desert owl, the osprey,
  4. the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe and the bat.
  5. " 'All flying insects that walk on all fours are to be detestable to you.
  1. And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,
  2. And the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl,
  3. And the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle,
  4. And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.
  5. All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you.
  1. There are, however, some winged creatures that walk on all fours that you may eat: those that have jointed legs for hopping on the ground.
  2. Of these you may eat any kind of locust, katydid, cricket or grasshopper.
  3. But all other winged creatures that have four legs you are to detest.
  4. " 'You will make yourselves unclean by these; whoever touches their carcasses will be unclean till evening.
  5. Whoever picks up one of their carcasses must wash his clothes, and he will be unclean till evening.
  1. Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth;
  2. Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind.
  3. But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you.
  4. And for these ye shall be unclean: whosoever toucheth the carcase of them shall be unclean until the even.
  5. And whosoever beareth ought of the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.
  1. " 'Every animal that has a split hoof not completely divided or that does not chew the cud is unclean for you; whoever touches the carcass of any of them will be unclean.
  2. Of all the animals that walk on all fours, those that walk on their paws are unclean for you; whoever touches their carcasses will be unclean till evening.
  3. Anyone who picks up their carcasses must wash his clothes, and he will be unclean till evening. They are unclean for you.
  4. " 'Of the animals that move about on the ground, these are unclean for you: the weasel, the rat, any kind of great lizard,
  5. the gecko, the monitor lizard, the wall lizard, the skink and the chameleon.
  1. The carcases of every beast which divideth the hoof, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the cud, are unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean.
  2. And whatsoever goeth upon his paws, among all manner of beasts that go on all four, those are unclean unto you: whoso toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even.
  3. And he that beareth the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: they are unclean unto you.
  4. These also shall be unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth; the weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise after his kind,
  5. And the ferret, and the chameleon, and the lizard, and the snail, and the mole.
  1. Of all those that move along the ground, these are unclean for you. Whoever touches them when they are dead will be unclean till evening.
  2. When one of them dies and falls on something, that article, whatever its use, will be unclean, whether it is made of wood, cloth, hide or sackcloth. Put it in water; it will be unclean till evening, and then it will be clean.
  3. If one of them falls into a clay pot, everything in it will be unclean, and you must break the pot.
  4. Any food that could be eaten but has water on it from such a pot is unclean, and any liquid that could be drunk from it is unclean.
  5. Anything that one of their carcasses falls on becomes unclean; an oven or cooking pot must be broken up. They are unclean, and you are to regard them as unclean.
  1. These are unclean to you among all that creep: whosoever doth touch them, when they be dead, shall be unclean until the even.
  2. And upon whatsoever any of them, when they are dead, doth fall, it shall be unclean; whether it be any vessel of wood, or raiment, or skin, or sack, whatsoever vessel it be, wherein any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the even; so it shall be cleansed.
  3. And every earthen vessel, whereinto any of them falleth, whatsoever is in it shall be unclean; and ye shall break it.
  4. Of all meat which may be eaten, that on which such water cometh shall be unclean: and all drink that may be drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean.
  5. And every thing whereupon any part of their carcase falleth shall be unclean; whether it be oven, or ranges for pots, they shall be broken down: for they are unclean and shall be unclean unto you.
  1. A spring, however, or a cistern for collecting water remains clean, but anyone who touches one of these carcasses is unclean.
  2. If a carcass falls on any seeds that are to be planted, they remain clean.
  3. But if water has been put on the seed and a carcass falls on it, it is unclean for you.
  4. " 'If an animal that you are allowed to eat dies, anyone who touches the carcass will be unclean till evening.
  5. Anyone who eats some of the carcass must wash his clothes, and he will be unclean till evening. Anyone who picks up the carcass must wash his clothes, and he will be unclean till evening.
  1. Nevertheless a fountain or pit, wherein there is plenty of water, shall be clean: but that which toucheth their carcase shall be unclean.
  2. And if any part of their carcase fall upon any sowing seed which is to be sown, it shall be clean.
  3. But if any water be put upon the seed, and any part of their carcase fall thereon, it shall be unclean unto you.
  4. And if any beast, of which ye may eat, die; he that toucheth the carcase thereof shall be unclean until the even.
  5. And he that eateth of the carcase of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: he also that beareth the carcase of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.
  1. " 'Every creature that moves about on the ground is detestable; it is not to be eaten.
  2. You are not to eat any creature that moves about on the ground, whether it moves on its belly or walks on all fours or on many feet; it is detestable.
  3. Do not defile yourselves by any of these creatures. Do not make yourselves unclean by means of them or be made unclean by them.
  4. I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. Do not make yourselves unclean by any creature that moves about on the ground.
  5. I am the LORD who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy.
  1. And every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth shall be an abomination; it shall not be eaten.
  2. Whatsoever goeth upon the belly, and whatsoever goeth upon all four, or whatsoever hath more feet among all creeping things that creep upon the earth, them ye shall not eat; for they are an abomination.
  3. Ye shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby.
  4. For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
  5. For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.
  1. " 'These are the regulations concerning animals, birds, every living thing that moves in the water and every creature that moves about on the ground.
  2. You must distinguish between the unclean and the clean, between living creatures that may be eaten and those that may not be eaten.' "
  1. This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth:
  2. To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.

  1. The LORD said to Moses,
  2. "Say to the Israelites: 'A woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her monthly period.
  3. On the eighth day the boy is to be circumcised.
  4. Then the woman must wait thirty-three days to be purified from her bleeding. She must not touch anything sacred or go to the sanctuary until the days of her purification are over.
  5. If she gives birth to a daughter, for two weeks the woman will be unclean, as during her period. Then she must wait sixty-six days to be purified from her bleeding.
  1. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
  2. Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.
  3. And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.
  4. And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled.
  5. But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days.
  1. " 'When the days of her purification for a son or daughter are over, she is to bring to the priest at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting a year-old lamb for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or a dove for a sin offering.
  2. He shall offer them before the LORD to make atonement for her, and then she will be ceremonially clean from her flow of blood. " 'These are the regulations for the woman who gives birth to a boy or a girl.
  3. If she cannot afford a lamb, she is to bring two doves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering. In this way the priest will make atonement for her, and she will be clean.' "
  1. And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest:
  2. Who shall offer it before the LORD, and make an atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for her that hath born a male or a female.
  3. And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.
