  1. After David had constructed buildings for himself in the City of David, he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it.
  2. Then David said, "No one but the Levites may carry the ark of God, because the LORD chose them to carry the ark of the LORD and to minister before him forever."
  3. David assembled all Israel in Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the LORD to the place he had prepared for it.
  4. He called together the descendants of Aaron and the Levites:
  5. From the descendants of Kohath, Uriel the leader and 120 relatives;
  1. And David made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.
  2. Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the LORD chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.
  3. And David gathered all Israel together to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the LORD unto his place, which he had prepared for it.
  4. And David assembled the children of Aaron, and the Levites:
  5. Of the sons of Kohath; Uriel the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twenty:
  1. from the descendants of Merari, Asaiah the leader and 220 relatives;
  2. from the descendants of Gershon, Joel the leader and 130 relatives;
  3. from the descendants of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the leader and 200 relatives;
  4. from the descendants of Hebron, Eliel the leader and 80 relatives;
  5. from the descendants of Uzziel, Amminadab the leader and 112 relatives.
  1. Of the sons of Merari; Asaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred and twenty:
  2. Of the sons of Gershom; Joel the chief and his brethren an hundred and thirty:
  3. Of the sons of Elizaphan; Shemaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred:
  4. Of the sons of Hebron; Eliel the chief, and his brethren fourscore:
  5. Of the sons of Uzziel; Amminadab the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twelve.
  1. Then David summoned Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel and Amminadab the Levites.
  2. He said to them, "You are the heads of the Levitical families; you and your fellow Levites are to consecrate yourselves and bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel, to the place I have prepared for it.
  3. It was because you, the Levites, did not bring it up the first time that the LORD our God broke out in anger against us. We did not inquire of him about how to do it in the prescribed way."
  4. So the priests and Levites consecrated themselves in order to bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel.
  5. And the Levites carried the ark of God with the poles on their shoulders, as Moses had commanded in accordance with the word of the LORD.
  1. And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab,
  2. And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.
  3. For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.
  4. So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel.
  5. And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of the LORD.
  1. David told the leaders of the Levites to appoint their brothers as singers to sing joyful songs, accompanied by musical instruments: lyres, harps and cymbals.
  2. So the Levites appointed Heman son of Joel; from his brothers, Asaph son of Berekiah; and from their brothers the Merarites, Ethan son of Kushaiah;
  3. and with them their brothers next in rank: Zechariah, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom and Jeiel, the gatekeepers.
  4. The musicians Heman, Asaph and Ethan were to sound the bronze cymbals;
  5. Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah and Benaiah were to play the lyres according to alamoth ,
  1. And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of musick, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy.
  2. So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brethren, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;
  3. And with them their brethren of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, the porters.
  4. So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed to sound with cymbals of brass;
  5. And Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalteries on Alamoth;
  1. and Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jeiel and Azaziah were to play the harps, directing according to sheminith .
  2. Kenaniah the head Levite was in charge of the singing; that was his responsibility because he was skillful at it.
  3. Berekiah and Elkanah were to be doorkeepers for the ark.
  4. Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah and Eliezer the priests were to blow trumpets before the ark of God. Obed-Edom and Jehiah were also to be doorkeepers for the ark.
  5. So David and the elders of Israel and the commanders of units of a thousand went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the house of Obed-Edom, with rejoicing.
  1. And Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps on the Sheminith to excel.
  2. And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was for song: he instructed about the song, because he was skilful.
  3. And Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.
  4. And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, did blow with the trumpets before the ark of God: and Obededom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.
  5. So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the house of Obededom with joy.
  1. Because God had helped the Levites who were carrying the ark of the covenant of the LORD, seven bulls and seven rams were sacrificed.
  2. Now David was clothed in a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who were carrying the ark, and as were the singers, and Kenaniah, who was in charge of the singing of the choirs. David also wore a linen ephod.
  3. So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouts, with the sounding of rams' horns and trumpets, and of cymbals, and the playing of lyres and harps.
  4. As the ark of the covenant of the LORD was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David dancing and celebrating, she despised him in her heart.
  1. And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.
  2. And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also had upon him an ephod of linen.
  3. Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.
  4. And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the city of David, that Michal, the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.

  1. They brought the ark of God and set it inside the tent that David had pitched for it, and they presented burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before God.
  2. After David had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.
  3. Then he gave a loaf of bread, a cake of dates and a cake of raisins to each Israelite man and woman.
  4. He appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, to make petition, to give thanks, and to praise the LORD, the God of Israel:
  5. Asaph was the chief, Zechariah second, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom and Jeiel. They were to play the lyres and harps, Asaph was to sound the cymbals,
  1. So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.
  2. And when David had made an end of offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.
  3. And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine.
  4. And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:
  5. Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obededom: and Jeiel with psalteries and with harps; but Asaph made a sound with cymbals;
  1. and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests were to blow the trumpets regularly before the ark of the covenant of God.
  2. That day David first committed to Asaph and his associates this psalm of thanks to the LORD :
  3. Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done.
  4. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts.
  5. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
  1. Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.
  2. Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the LORD into the hand of Asaph and his brethren.
  3. Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.
  4. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.
  5. Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.
  1. Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.
  2. Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,
  3. O descendants of Israel his servant, O sons of Jacob, his chosen ones.
  4. He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
  5. He remembers his covenant forever, the word he commanded, for a thousand generations,
  1. Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.
  2. Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;
  3. O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones.
  4. He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
  5. Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;
  1. the covenant he made with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac.
  2. He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant:
  3. "To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion you will inherit."
  4. When they were but few in number, few indeed, and strangers in it,
  5. they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another.
  1. Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;
  2. And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,
  3. Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance;
  4. When ye were but few, even a few, and strangers in it.
  5. And when they went from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people;
  1. He allowed no man to oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings:
  2. "Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm."
  3. Sing to the LORD, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day.
  4. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.
  5. For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.
  1. He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes,
  2. Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.
  3. Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.
  4. Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations.
  5. For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods.
  1. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.
  2. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy in his dwelling place.
  3. Ascribe to the LORD, O families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength,
  4. ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name. Bring an offering and come before him; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.
  5. Tremble before him, all the earth! The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.
  1. For all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.
  2. Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place.
  3. Give unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
  4. Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
  5. Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.
  1. Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, "The LORD reigns!"
  2. Let the sea resound, and all that is in it; let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them!
  3. Then the trees of the forest will sing, they will sing for joy before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth.
  4. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
  5. Cry out, "Save us, O God our Savior; gather us and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name, that we may glory in your praise."
  1. Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The LORD reigneth.
  2. Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all that is therein.
  3. Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the LORD, because he cometh to judge the earth.
  4. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
  5. And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.
  1. Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Then all the people said "Amen" and "Praise the LORD."
  2. David left Asaph and his associates before the ark of the covenant of the LORD to minister there regularly, according to each day's requirements.
  3. He also left Obed-Edom and his sixty-eight associates to minister with them. Obed-Edom son of Jeduthun, and also Hosah, were gatekeepers.
  4. David left Zadok the priest and his fellow priests before the tabernacle of the LORD at the high place in Gibeon
  5. to present burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of burnt offering regularly, morning and evening, in accordance with everything written in the Law of the LORD, which he had given Israel.
  1. Blessed be the LORD God of Israel for ever and ever. And all the people said, Amen, and praised the LORD.
  2. So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required:
  3. And Obededom with their brethren, threescore and eight; Obededom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be porters:
  4. And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon,
  5. To offer burnt offerings unto the LORD upon the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, and to do according to all that is written in the law of the LORD, which he commanded Israel;
  1. With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the LORD, "for his love endures forever."
  2. Heman and Jeduthun were responsible for the sounding of the trumpets and cymbals and for the playing of the other instruments for sacred song. The sons of Jeduthun were stationed at the gate.
  3. Then all the people left, each for his own home, and David returned home to bless his family.
  1. And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever;
  2. And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.
  3. And all the people departed every man to his house: and David returned to bless his house.
