  1. Again the word of the LORD came to me:
  2. "Son of man, when the people of Israel were living in their own land, they defiled it by their conduct and their actions. Their conduct was like a woman's monthly uncleanness in my sight.
  3. So I poured out my wrath on them because they had shed blood in the land and because they had defiled it with their idols.
  4. I dispersed them among the nations, and they were scattered through the countries; I judged them according to their conduct and their actions.
  5. And wherever they went among the nations they profaned my holy name, for it was said of them, 'These are the LORD's people, and yet they had to leave his land.'
  1. Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
  2. Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman.
  3. Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it:
  4. And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them.
  5. And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of the LORD, and are gone forth out of his land.
  1. I had concern for my holy name, which the house of Israel profaned among the nations where they had gone.
  2. "Therefore say to the house of Israel, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am going to do these things, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you have gone.
  3. I will show the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, the name you have profaned among them. Then the nations will know that I am the LORD, declares the Sovereign LORD, when I show myself holy through you before their eyes.
  4. " 'For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land.
  5. I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols.
  1. But I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, whither they went.
  2. Therefore say unto the house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went.
  3. And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.
  4. For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
  5. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
  1. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
  2. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.
  3. You will live in the land I gave your forefathers; you will be my people, and I will be your God.
  4. I will save you from all your uncleanness. I will call for the grain and make it plentiful and will not bring famine upon you.
  5. I will increase the fruit of the trees and the crops of the field, so that you will no longer suffer disgrace among the nations because of famine.
  1. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
  2. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
  3. And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.
  4. I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you.
  5. And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that ye shall receive no more reproach of famine among the heathen.
  1. Then you will remember your evil ways and wicked deeds, and you will loathe yourselves for your sins and detestable practices.
  2. I want you to know that I am not doing this for your sake, declares the Sovereign LORD. Be ashamed and disgraced for your conduct, O house of Israel!
  3. " 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: On the day I cleanse you from all your sins, I will resettle your towns, and the ruins will be rebuilt.
  4. The desolate land will be cultivated instead of lying desolate in the sight of all who pass through it.
  5. They will say, "This land that was laid waste has become like the garden of Eden; the cities that were lying in ruins, desolate and destroyed, are now fortified and inhabited."
  1. Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.
  2. Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.
  3. Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be builded.
  4. And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by.
  5. And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited.
  1. Then the nations around you that remain will know that I the LORD have rebuilt what was destroyed and have replanted what was desolate. I the LORD have spoken, and I will do it.'
  2. "This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Once again I will yield to the plea of the house of Israel and do this for them: I will make their people as numerous as sheep,
  3. as numerous as the flocks for offerings at Jerusalem during her appointed feasts. So will the ruined cities be filled with flocks of people. Then they will know that I am the LORD."
  1. Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the LORD build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it.
  2. Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock.
  3. As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts; so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and they shall know that I am the LORD.

  1. The hand of the LORD was upon me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the LORD and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones.
  2. He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry.
  3. He asked me, "Son of man, can these bones live?" I said, "O Sovereign LORD, you alone know."
  4. Then he said to me, "Prophesy to these bones and say to them, 'Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD!
  5. This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.
  1. The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,
  2. And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.
  3. And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.
  4. Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.
  5. Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:
  1. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.' "
  2. So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone.
  3. I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.
  4. Then he said to me, "Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe into these slain, that they may live.' "
  5. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet--a vast army.
  1. And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
  2. So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.
  3. And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.
  4. Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.
  5. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
  1. Then he said to me: "Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They say, 'Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.'
  2. Therefore prophesy and say to them: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: O my people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel.
  3. Then you, my people, will know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves and bring you up from them.
  4. I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the LORD have spoken, and I have done it, declares the LORD.' "
  1. Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.
  2. Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.
  3. And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,
  4. And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.

  1. The word of the LORD came to me:
  2. "Son of man, take a stick of wood and write on it, 'Belonging to Judah and the Israelites associated with him.' Then take another stick of wood, and write on it, 'Ephraim's stick, belonging to Joseph and all the house of Israel associated with him.'
  3. Join them together into one stick so that they will become one in your hand.
  4. "When your countrymen ask you, 'Won't you tell us what you mean by this?'
  5. say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am going to take the stick of Joseph--which is in Ephraim's hand--and of the Israelite tribes associated with him, and join it to Judah's stick, making them a single stick of wood, and they will become one in my hand.'
  1. The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
  2. Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim and for all the house of Israel his companions:
  3. And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.
  4. And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these?
  5. Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
  1. Hold before their eyes the sticks you have written on
  2. and say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will take the Israelites out of the nations where they have gone. I will gather them from all around and bring them back into their own land.
  3. I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel. There will be one king over all of them and they will never again be two nations or be divided into two kingdoms.
  4. They will no longer defile themselves with their idols and vile images or with any of their offenses, for I will save them from all their sinful backsliding, and I will cleanse them. They will be my people, and I will be their God.
  5. " 'My servant David will be king over them, and they will all have one shepherd. They will follow my laws and be careful to keep my decrees.
  1. And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes.
  2. And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:
  3. And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all.
  4. Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.
  5. And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them.
  1. They will live in the land I gave to my servant Jacob, the land where your fathers lived. They and their children and their children's children will live there forever, and David my servant will be their prince forever.
  2. I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be an everlasting covenant. I will establish them and increase their numbers, and I will put my sanctuary among them forever.
  3. My dwelling place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people.
  4. Then the nations will know that I the LORD make Israel holy, when my sanctuary is among them forever.' "
  1. And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever.
  2. Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.
  3. My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
  4. And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.
