  1. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh and say to him, 'This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: "Let my people go, so that they may worship me."
  2. If you refuse to let them go and continue to hold them back,
  3. the hand of the LORD will bring a terrible plague on your livestock in the field--on your horses and donkeys and camels and on your cattle and sheep and goats.
  4. But the LORD will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and that of Egypt, so that no animal belonging to the Israelites will die.' "
  5. The LORD set a time and said, "Tomorrow the LORD will do this in the land."
  1. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh and speak to him, 'Thus says the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, "Let My people go, that they may serve Me.
  2. "For if you refuse to let them go and continue to hold them,
  3. behold, the hand of the LORD will come with a very severe pestilence on your livestock which are in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the herds, and on the flocks.
  4. "But the LORD will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt, so that nothing will die of all that belongs to the sons of Israel."'"
  5. The LORD set a definite time, saying, "Tomorrow the LORD will do this thing in the land."
  1. And the next day the LORD did it: All the livestock of the Egyptians died, but not one animal belonging to the Israelites died.
  2. Pharaoh sent men to investigate and found that not even one of the animals of the Israelites had died. Yet his heart was unyielding and he would not let the people go.
  3. Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Take handfuls of soot from a furnace and have Moses toss it into the air in the presence of Pharaoh.
  4. It will become fine dust over the whole land of Egypt, and festering boils will break out on men and animals throughout the land."
  5. So they took soot from a furnace and stood before Pharaoh. Moses tossed it into the air, and festering boils broke out on men and animals.
  1. So the LORD did this thing on the next day, and all the livestock of Egypt died; but of the livestock of the sons of Israel, not one died.
  2. Pharaoh sent, and behold, there was not even one of the livestock of Israel dead. But the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go.
  3. Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Take for yourselves handfuls of soot from a kiln, and let Moses throw it toward the sky in the sight of Pharaoh.
  4. "It will become fine dust over all the land of Egypt, and will become boils breaking out with sores on man and beast through all the land of Egypt."
  5. So they took soot from a kiln, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses threw it toward the sky, and it became boils breaking out with sores on man and beast.
  1. The magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils that were on them and on all the Egyptians.
  2. But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart and he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had said to Moses.
  3. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Get up early in the morning, confront Pharaoh and say to him, 'This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me,
  4. or this time I will send the full force of my plagues against you and against your officials and your people, so you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth.
  5. For by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth.
  1. The magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils were on the magicians as well as on all the Egyptians.
  2. And the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not listen to them, just as the LORD had spoken to Moses.
  3. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Rise up early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh and say to him, 'Thus says the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, "Let My people go, that they may serve Me.
  4. "For this time I will send all My plagues on you and your servants and your people, so that you may know that there is no one like Me in all the earth.
  5. "For if by now I had put forth My hand and struck you and your people with pestilence, you would then have been cut off from the earth.
  1. But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.
  2. You still set yourself against my people and will not let them go.
  3. Therefore, at this time tomorrow I will send the worst hailstorm that has ever fallen on Egypt, from the day it was founded till now.
  4. Give an order now to bring your livestock and everything you have in the field to a place of shelter, because the hail will fall on every man and animal that has not been brought in and is still out in the field, and they will die.' "
  5. Those officials of Pharaoh who feared the word of the LORD hurried to bring their slaves and their livestock inside.
  1. "But, indeed, for this reason I have allowed you to remain, in order to show you My power and in order to proclaim My name through all the earth.
  2. "Still you exalt yourself against My people by not letting them go.
  3. "Behold, about this time tomorrow, I will send a very heavy hail, such as has not been seen in Egypt from the day it was founded until now.
  4. "Now therefore send, bring your livestock and whatever you have in the field to safety Every man and beast that is found in the field and is not brought home, when the hail comes down on them, will die."'"
  5. The one among the servants of Pharaoh who feared the word of the LORD made his servants and his livestock flee into the houses;
  1. But those who ignored the word of the LORD left their slaves and livestock in the field.
  2. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that hail will fall all over Egypt--on men and animals and on everything growing in the fields of Egypt."
  3. When Moses stretched out his staff toward the sky, the LORD sent thunder and hail, and lightning flashed down to the ground. So the LORD rained hail on the land of Egypt;
  4. hail fell and lightning flashed back and forth. It was the worst storm in all the land of Egypt since it had become a nation.
  5. Throughout Egypt hail struck everything in the fields--both men and animals; it beat down everything growing in the fields and stripped every tree.
  1. but he who paid no regard to the word of the LORD left his servants and his livestock in the field.
  2. Now the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that hail may fall on all the land of Egypt, on man and on beast and on every plant of the field, throughout the land of Egypt."
  3. Moses stretched out his staff toward the sky, and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and fire ran down to the earth. And the LORD rained hail on the land of Egypt.
  4. So there was hail, and fire flashing continually in the midst of the hail, very severe, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.
  5. The hail struck all that was in the field through all the land of Egypt, both man and beast; the hail also struck every plant of the field and shattered every tree of the field.
  1. The only place it did not hail was the land of Goshen, where the Israelites were.
  2. Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron. "This time I have sinned," he said to them. "The LORD is in the right, and I and my people are in the wrong.
  3. Pray to the LORD, for we have had enough thunder and hail. I will let you go; you don't have to stay any longer."
  4. Moses replied, "When I have gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands in prayer to the LORD. The thunder will stop and there will be no more hail, so you may know that the earth is the LORD's.
  5. But I know that you and your officials still do not fear the LORD God."
  1. Only in the land of Goshen, where the sons of Israel were, there was no hail.
  2. Then Pharaoh sent for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, "I have sinned this time; the LORD is the righteous one, and I and my people are the wicked ones.
  3. "Make supplication to the LORD, for there has been enough of God's thunder and hail; and I will let you go, and you shall stay no longer."
  4. Moses said to him, "As soon as I go out of the city, I will spread out my hands to the LORD; the thunder will cease and there will be hail no longer, that you may know that the earth is the LORD'S.
  5. "But as for you and your servants, I know that you do not yet fear the LORD God."
  1. (The flax and barley were destroyed, since the barley had headed and the flax was in bloom.
  2. The wheat and spelt, however, were not destroyed, because they ripen later.)
  3. Then Moses left Pharaoh and went out of the city. He spread out his hands toward the LORD; the thunder and hail stopped, and the rain no longer poured down on the land.
  4. When Pharaoh saw that the rain and hail and thunder had stopped, he sinned again: He and his officials hardened their hearts.
  5. So Pharaoh's heart was hard and he would not let the Israelites go, just as the LORD had said through Moses.
  1. (Now the flax and the barley were ruined, for the barley was in the ear and the flax was in bud.
  2. But the wheat and the spelt were not ruined, for they ripen late.)
  3. So Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread out his hands to the LORD; and the thunder and the hail ceased, and rain no longer poured on the earth.
  4. But when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunder had ceased, he sinned again and hardened his heart, he and his servants.
  5. Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he did not let the sons of Israel go, just as the LORD had spoken through Moses.

  ¸Þ¶Ñ±â, Èæ¾Ï Àç¾Ó(10:1-10:29)

  1. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials so that I may perform these miraculous signs of mine among them
  2. that you may tell your children and grandchildren how I dealt harshly with the Egyptians and how I performed my signs among them, and that you may know that I am the LORD."
  3. So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said to him, "This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: 'How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, so that they may worship me.
  4. If you refuse to let them go, I will bring locusts into your country tomorrow.
  5. They will cover the face of the ground so that it cannot be seen. They will devour what little you have left after the hail, including every tree that is growing in your fields.
  1. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the heart of his servants, that I may perform these signs of Mine among them,
  2. and that you may tell in the hearing of your son, and of your grandson, how I made a mockery of the Egyptians and how I performed My signs among them, that you may know that I am the LORD."
  3. Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said to him, "Thus says the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, 'How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, that they may serve Me.
  4. 'For if you refuse to let My people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your territory.
  5. 'They shall cover the surface of the land, so that no one will be able to see the land. They will also eat the rest of what has escaped--what is left to you from the hail--and they will eat every tree which sprouts for you out of the field.
  1. They will fill your houses and those of all your officials and all the Egyptians--something neither your fathers nor your forefathers have ever seen from the day they settled in this land till now.' " Then Moses turned and left Pharaoh.
  2. Pharaoh's officials said to him, "How long will this man be a snare to us? Let the people go, so that they may worship the LORD their God. Do you not yet realize that Egypt is ruined?"
  3. Then Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh. "Go, worship the LORD your God," he said. "But just who will be going?"
  4. Moses answered, "We will go with our young and old, with our sons and daughters, and with our flocks and herds, because we are to celebrate a festival to the LORD."
  5. Pharaoh said, "The LORD be with you--if I let you go, along with your women and children! Clearly you are bent on evil.
  1. 'Then your houses shall be filled and the houses of all your servants and the houses of all the Egyptians, something which neither your fathers nor your grandfathers have seen, from the day that they came upon the earth until this day.'" And he turned and went out from Pharaoh.
  2. Pharaoh's servants said to him, "How long will this man be a snare to us? Let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their God. Do you not realize that Egypt is destroyed?"
  3. So Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh, and he said to them, "Go, serve the LORD your God! Who are the ones that are going?"
  4. Moses said, "We shall go with our young and our old; with our sons and our daughters, with our flocks and our herds we shall go, for we must hold a feast to the LORD."
  5. Then he said to them, "Thus may the LORD be with you, if ever I let you and your little ones go! Take heed, for evil is in your mind.
  1. No! Have only the men go; and worship the LORD, since that's what you have been asking for." Then Moses and Aaron were driven out of Pharaoh's presence.
  2. And the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over Egypt so that locusts will swarm over the land and devour everything growing in the fields, everything left by the hail."
  3. So Moses stretched out his staff over Egypt, and the LORD made an east wind blow across the land all that day and all that night. By morning the wind had brought the locusts;
  4. they invaded all Egypt and settled down in every area of the country in great numbers. Never before had there been such a plague of locusts, nor will there ever be again.
  5. They covered all the ground until it was black. They devoured all that was left after the hail--everything growing in the fields and the fruit on the trees. Nothing green remained on tree or plant in all the land of Egypt.
  1. "Not so! Go now, the men among you, and serve the LORD, for that is what you desire." So they were driven out from Pharaoh's presence.
  2. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up on the land of Egypt and eat every plant of the land, even all that the hail has left."
  3. So Moses stretched out his staff over the land of Egypt, and the LORD directed an east wind on the land all that day and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.
  4. The locusts came up over all the land of Egypt and settled in all the territory of Egypt; they were very numerous. There had never been so many locusts, nor would there be so many again.
  5. For they covered the surface of the whole land, so that the land was darkened; and they ate every plant of the land and all the fruit of the trees that the hail had left. Thus nothing green was left on tree or plant of the field through all the land of Egypt.
  1. Pharaoh quickly summoned Moses and Aaron and said, "I have sinned against the LORD your God and against you.
  2. Now forgive my sin once more and pray to the LORD your God to take this deadly plague away from me."
  3. Moses then left Pharaoh and prayed to the LORD.
  4. And the LORD changed the wind to a very strong west wind, which caught up the locusts and carried them into the Red Sea. Not a locust was left anywhere in Egypt.
  5. But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he would not let the Israelites go.
  1. Then Pharaoh hurriedly called for Moses and Aaron, and he said, "I have sinned against the LORD your God and against you.
  2. "Now therefore, please forgive my sin only this once, and make supplication to the LORD your God, that He would only remove this death from me."
  3. He went out from Pharaoh and made supplication to the LORD.
  4. So the LORD shifted the wind to a very strong west wind which took up the locusts and drove them into the Red Sea; not one locust was left in all the territory of Egypt.
  5. But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not let the sons of Israel go.
  1. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that darkness will spread over Egypt--darkness that can be felt."
  2. So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and total darkness covered all Egypt for three days.
  3. No one could see anyone else or leave his place for three days. Yet all the Israelites had light in the places where they lived.
  4. Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, "Go, worship the LORD. Even your women and children may go with you; only leave your flocks and herds behind."
  5. But Moses said, "You must allow us to have sacrifices and burnt offerings to present to the LORD our God.
  1. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even a darkness which may be felt."
  2. So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days.
  3. They did not see one another, nor did anyone rise from his place for three days, but all the sons of Israel had light in their dwellings.
  4. Then Pharaoh called to Moses, and said, "Go, serve the LORD; only let your flocks and your herds be detained Even your little ones may go with you."
  5. But Moses said, "You must also let us have sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice them to the LORD our God.
  1. Our livestock too must go with us; not a hoof is to be left behind. We have to use some of them in worshiping the LORD our God, and until we get there we will not know what we are to use to worship the LORD."
  2. But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he was not willing to let them go.
  3. Pharaoh said to Moses, "Get out of my sight! Make sure you do not appear before me again! The day you see my face you will die."
  4. "Just as you say," Moses replied, "I will never appear before you again."
  1. "Therefore, our livestock too shall go with us; not a hoof shall be left behind, for we shall take some of them to serve the LORD our God. And until we arrive there, we ourselves do not know with what we shall serve the LORD."
  2. But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he was not willing to let them go.
  3. Then Pharaoh said to him, "Get away from me! Beware, do not see my face again, for in the day you see my face you shall die!"
  4. Moses said, "You are right; I shall never see your face again!"
