  1. As he taught, Jesus said, "Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted in the marketplaces,
  2. and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets.
  3. They devour widows' houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Such men will be punished most severely."
  4. Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts.
  5. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny.
  1. In His teaching He was saying: "Beware of the scribes who like to walk around in long robes, and like respectful greetings in the market places,
  2. and chief seats in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets,
  3. who devour widows' houses, and for appearance's sake offer long prayers; these will receive greater condemnation."
  4. And He sat down opposite the treasury, and began observing how the people were putting money into the treasury; and many rich people were putting in large sums.
  5. A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amount to a cent.
  1. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.
  2. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything--all she had to live on."
  1. Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them, "Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the contributors to the treasury;
  2. for they all put in out of their surplus, but she, out of her poverty, put in all she owned, all she had to live on."

  1. As he was leaving the temple, one of his disciples said to him, "Look, Teacher! What massive stones! What magnificent buildings!"
  2. "Do you see all these great buildings?" replied Jesus. "Not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."
  3. As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew asked him privately,
  4. "Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are all about to be fulfilled?"
  5. Jesus said to them: "Watch out that no one deceives you.
  1. As He was going out of the temple, one of His disciples said to Him, "Teacher, behold what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!"
  2. And Jesus said to him, "Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left upon another which will not be torn down."
  3. As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew were questioning Him privately,
  4. "Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign when all these things are going to be fulfilled?"
  5. And Jesus began to say to them, "See to it that no one misleads you.
  1. Many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am he,' and will deceive many.
  2. When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
  3. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.
  4. "You must be on your guard. You will be handed over to the local councils and flogged in the synagogues. On account of me you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them.
  5. And the gospel must first be preached to all nations.
  1. "Many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He!' and will mislead many.
  2. "When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be frightened; those things must take place; but that is not yet the end.
  3. "For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will also be famines. These things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.
  4. "But be on your guard; for they will deliver you to the courts, and you will be flogged in the synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them.
  5. "The gospel must first be preached to all the nations.
  1. Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
  2. "Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.
  3. All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
  1. "When they arrest you and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but it is the Holy Spirit.
  2. "Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.
  3. "You will be hated by all because of My name, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.
