  1. "I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber.
  2. The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep.
  3. The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
  4. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.
  5. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger's voice."
  1. "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber.
  2. "But he who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep.
  3. "To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
  4. "When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.
  5. "A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers."
  1. Jesus used this figure of speech, but they did not understand what he was telling them.
  2. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep.
  3. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them.
  4. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture.
  5. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
  1. This figure of speech Jesus spoke to them, but they did not understand what those things were which He had been saying to them.
  2. So Jesus said to them again, "Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
  3. "All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them.
  4. "I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
  5. "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
  1. "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
  2. The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.
  3. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.
  4. "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me--
  5. just as the Father knows me and I know the Father--and I lay down my life for the sheep.
  1. "I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
  2. "He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them.
  3. "He flees because he is a hired hand and is not concerned about the sheep.
  4. "I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me,
  5. even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.
  1. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.
  2. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life--only to take it up again.
  3. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father."
  4. At these words the Jews were again divided.
  5. Many of them said, "He is demon-possessed and raving mad. Why listen to him?"
  1. "I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd.
  2. "For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again.
  3. "No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again This commandment I received from My Father."
  4. A division occurred again among the Jews because of these words.
  5. Many of them were saying, "He has a demon and is insane. Why do you listen to Him?"
  1. But others said, "These are not the sayings of a man possessed by a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?"
  1. Others were saying, "These are not the sayings of one demon-possessed A demon cannot open the eyes of the blind, can he?"
