  ¹ÏÀ½ÀÇ ÈÄ»ç(4:13-4:25)

  1. It was not through law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.
  2. For if those who live by law are heirs, faith has no value and the promise is worthless,
  3. because law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.
  4. Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring--not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.
  5. As it is written: "I have made you a father of many nations." He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed--the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.
  1. For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith.
  2. For if those who are of the Law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise is nullified;
  3. for the Law brings about wrath, but where there is no law, there also is no violation.
  4. For this reason it is by faith, in order that it may be in accordance with grace, so that the promise will be guaranteed to all the descendants, not only to those who are of the Law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all,
  5. (as it is written, "A FATHER OF MANY NATIONS HAVE I MADE YOU") in the presence of Him whom he believed, even God, who gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist.
  1. Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, "So shall your offspring be."
  2. Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead--since he was about a hundred years old--and that Sarah's womb was also dead.
  3. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,
  4. being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.
  5. This is why "it was credited to him as righteousness."
  1. In hope against hope he believed, so that he might become a father of many nations according to that which had been spoken, "SO SHALL YOUR DESCENDANTS BE."
  2. Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah's womb;
  3. yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God,
  4. and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform.
  5. Therefore IT WAS ALSO CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS.
  1. The words "it was credited to him" were written not for him alone,
  2. but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness--for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.
  3. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.
  1. Now not for his sake only was it written that it was credited to him,
  2. but for our sake also, to whom it will be credited, as those who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,
  3. He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification.
