- "Four things on earth are small, yet they are extremely wise:
- Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer;
- coneys are creatures of little power, yet they make their home in the crags;
- locusts have no king, yet they advance together in ranks;
- a lizard can be caught with the hand, yet it is found in kings' palaces.

- Four things are small on the earth, But they are exceedingly wise:
- The ants are not a strong people, But they prepare their food in the summer;
- The shephanim are not mighty people, Yet they make their houses in the rocks;
- The locusts have no king, Yet all of them go out in ranks;
- The lizard you may grasp with the hands, Yet it is in kings' palaces.

- "There are three things that are stately in their stride, four that move with stately bearing:
- a lion, mighty among beasts, who retreats before nothing;
- a strutting rooster, a he-goat, and a king with his army around him.
- "If you have played the fool and exalted yourself, or if you have planned evil, clap your hand over your mouth!
- For as churning the milk produces butter, and as twisting the nose produces blood, so stirring up anger produces strife."

- There are three things which are stately in their march, Even four which are stately when they walk:
- The lion which is mighty among beasts And does not retreat before any,
- The strutting rooster, the male goat also, And a king when his army is with him.
- If you have been foolish in exalting yourself Or if you have plotted evil, put your hand on your mouth.
- For the churning of milk produces butter, And pressing the nose brings forth blood; So the churning of anger produces strife.
