	창세기 43:16-44:34 요셉의 형제들은 베냐민과 함께 요셉 앞에 다시 서게 되고, 요셉은 그들에게 극진한 대접을 하였다. 요셉은 베냐민의 자루에 은잔을 넣고 형들을 다시 한번 시험했다. 이에 유다는 자신을 담보로 베냐민을 보내 달라는 간곡한 탄원을 했다.

	형제들과의 2차 대면(43:16-43:34)

When Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the steward of his house, "Take these men to my house, slaughter an animal and prepare dinner; they are to eat with me at noon."

The man did as Joseph told him and took the men to Joseph's house.

Now the men were frightened when they were taken to his house. They thought, "We were brought here because of the silver that was put back into our sacks the first time. He wants to attack us and overpower us and seize us as slaves and take our donkeys."

So they went up to Joseph's steward and spoke to him at the entrance to the house.

"Please, sir," they said, "we came down here the first time to buy food.

ヨセフはベニヤミンが彼らといっしょにいるのを見るや，彼の家の管理者に言った．「この人たちを家へ連れて行き， ¿をほふり，料理をしなさい．この人たちが ¿に，私といっしょに食事をするから．」

その人はヨセフが言ったとおりにして，その人¿をヨセフの家に連れて行った．

ところが，この人たちはヨセフの家に連れて行かれたので恐れた．「われわれが連れ ¿まれたのは，この前のとき，われわれの袋に返されていたあの銀のためだ．われわれを陷れ，われわれを襲い，われわれを奴隷として，われわれのろばもいっしょに捕えるためなのだ．」と彼らは言った．

But at the place where we stopped for the night we opened our sacks and each of us found his silver--the exact weight--in the mouth of his sack. So we have brought it back with us.

We have also brought additional silver with us to buy food. We don't know who put our silver in our sacks."

"It's all right," he said. "Don't be afraid. Your God, the God of your father, has given you treasure in your sacks; I received your silver." Then he brought Simeon out to them.

The steward took the men into Joseph's house, gave them water to wash their feet and provided fodder for their donkeys.

They prepared their gifts for Joseph's arrival at noon, because they had heard that they were to eat there.

ところが，宿泊所について，袋をあけました．すると，私たちの銀がそのままそれぞれの袋の口にありました．それで，私たちはそれを返しに持って來ました．

また，食糧を買うためには，ほかに銀を私たちは持って來ました．袋の中にだれが私たちの銀を入れたのか，私たちにはわかりません．」

彼は答えた．「安心しなさい．恐れることはありません．あなたがたの神，あなたがたの父の神が，あなたがたのために袋の中に寶を入れてくださったのに違いありません．あなたがたの銀は私が受け取りました．」それから彼はシメオンを彼らのところに連れて來た．

その人は人¿をヨセフの家に連れて行き，水を與えた．彼らは足を洗い，ろばに飼料を與えた．

彼らはヨセフが ¿に歸って來るまでに，贈り物を用意しておいた．それは自分たちがそこで食事をすることになっているのを聞いたからである．

When Joseph came home, they presented to him the gifts they had brought into the house, and they bowed down before him to the ground.

He asked them how they were, and then he said, "How is your aged father you told me about? Is he still living?"

They replied, "Your servant our father is still alive and well." And they bowed low to pay him honor.

As he looked about and saw his brother Benjamin, his own mother's son, he asked, "Is this your youngest brother, the one you told me about?" And he said, "God be gracious to you, my son."

Deeply moved at the sight of his brother, Joseph hurried out and looked for a place to weep. He went into his private room and wept there.

ヨセフが家に歸って來たとき，彼らは持って來た贈り物を家に持ち ¿み，地に伏して彼を拜んだ．

ヨセフは彼らの安否を問うて言った．「あなたがたが先に話していた，あなたがたの年老いた父親は元氣か．まだ生きているのか．」

彼らは答えた．「あなたのしもべ，私たちの父は元氣で，まだ生きております．」そして，彼らはひざまずいて伏し拜んだ．

ヨセフは目を上げ，同じ母の子である弟のベニヤミンを見て言った．「これがあなたがたが私に話した末の弟か．」そして言った．「わが子よ．神があなたを惠まれるように．」

ヨセフは弟なつかしさに胸が熱くなり，泣きたくなって，急いで奧の部屋にはいって行って，そこで泣いた．

After he had washed his face, he came out and, controlling himself, said, "Serve the food."

They served him by himself, the brothers by themselves, and the Egyptians who ate with him by themselves, because Egyptians could not eat with Hebrews, for that is detestable to Egyptians.

The men had been seated before him in the order of their ages, from the firstborn to the youngest; and they looked at each other in astonishment.

When portions were served to them from Joseph's table, Benjamin's portion was five times as much as anyone else's. So they feasted and drank freely with him.

やがて，彼は顔を洗って出て來た．そして自分を制して，「食事を出せ．」と言いつけた．

それでヨセフにはヨセフにだけ，彼らには彼らにだけ，ヨセフと食事を共にするエジプト人にはその者にだけ，それぞれ別に食事を出した．エジプト人はヘブル人とはいっしょに食事ができなかったからである．それはエジプト人の忌みきらうところであった．

彼らはヨセフの指圖によって，年長者は年長の座に，年下の者は年下の座にすわらされたので，この人たちは互いに驚き合った．

Now Joseph gave these instructions to the steward of his house: "Fill the men's sacks with as much food as they can carry, and put each man's silver in the mouth of his sack.

Then put my cup, the silver one, in the mouth of the youngest one's sack, along with the silver for his grain." And he did as Joseph said.

As morning dawned, the men were sent on their way with their donkeys.

They had not gone far from the city when Joseph said to his steward, "Go after those men at once, and when you catch up with them, say to them, 'Why have you repaid good with evil?

Isn't this the cup my master drinks from and also uses for divination? This is a wicked thing you have done.' "

さて，ヨセフは家の管理者に命じて言った．「あの人¿の袋を彼らに運べるだけの食糧で滿たし，おのおのの銀を彼らの袋の口に入れておけ．

また，私の杯，あの銀の杯を一番年下の者の袋の口に，穀物の代金といっしょに入れておけ．」彼はヨセフの言いつけどおりにした．

明け方，人¿はろばといっしょに送り出された．

彼らが町を出てまだ遠くへ行かないうちに，ヨセフは家の管理者に言った．「さあ，あの人¿のあとを追え．追いついたら彼らに，『なぜ，あなたがたは惡をもって善に報いるのか．

これは，私の主人が，これで飮み，また，これでいつもまじないをしておられるのではないか．あなたがたのしたことは惡らつだ．』と言うのだ．」

When he caught up with them, he repeated these words to them.

But they said to him, "Why does my lord say such things? Far be it from your servants to do anything like that!

We even brought back to you from the land of Canaan the silver we found inside the mouths of our sacks. So why would we steal silver or gold from your master's house?

If any of your servants is found to have it, he will die; and the rest of us will become my lord's slaves."

"Very well, then," he said, "let it be as you say. Whoever is found to have it will become my slave; the rest of you will be free from blame."

彼は彼らに追いついて，このことばを彼らに告げた．

Each of them quickly lowered his sack to the ground and opened it.

Then the steward proceeded to search, beginning with the oldest and ending with the youngest. And the cup was found in Benjamin's sack.

At this, they tore their clothes. Then they all loaded their donkeys and returned to the city.

Joseph was still in the house when Judah and his brothers came in, and they threw themselves to the ground before him.

Joseph said to them, "What is this you have done? Don't you know that a man like me can find things out by divination?"

そこで，彼らは急いで自分の袋を地に降ろし，おのおのその袋を開いた．

彼は年長の者から調べ始めて年下の者で終わった．ところがその杯はベニヤミンの袋から見つかった．

そこで彼らは着物を引き裂き，おのおのろばに荷を負わせて町に引き返した．

ヨセフは彼らに言った．「あなたがたのしたこのしわざは，何だ．私のような者はまじないをするということを知らなかったのか．」

"What can we say to my lord?" Judah replied. "What can we say? How can we prove our innocence? God has uncovered your servants' guilt. We are now my lord's slaves--we ourselves and the one who was found to have the cup."

But Joseph said, "Far be it from me to do such a thing! Only the man who was found to have the cup will become my slave. The rest of you, go back to your father in peace."

Then Judah went up to him and said: "Please, my lord, let your servant speak a word to my lord. Do not be angry with your servant, though you are equal to Pharaoh himself.

My lord asked his servants, 'Do you have a father or a brother?'

And we answered, 'We have an aged father, and there is a young son born to him in his old age. His brother is dead, and he is the only one of his mother's sons left, and his father loves him.'

ユダが答えた．「私たちはあなたさまに何を申せましょう．何の申し開きができましょう．また何と言って弁解することができましょう．神がしもべどもの咎をあばかれたのです．今このとおり，私たちも，そして杯を持っているのを見つかった者も，あなたさまの奴隷となりましょう．」

しかし，ヨセフは言った．「そんなことはとんでもないことだ．杯を持っているのを見つかった者だけが，私の奴隷となればよい．ほかのあなたがたは安心して父のもとへ歸るがよい．」

すると，ユダが彼に近づいて言った．「あなたさま．どうかあなたのしもべの申し上げることに耳を貸してください．そして，どうかしもべを激しくお怒りにならないでください．あなたはパロのようなお方なのですから．

あなたさまは，しもべどもに，あなたがたに父や弟があるかとお尋ねになりました．

それで，私たちはあなたさまに，『私たちには年老いた父と，年寄り子の末の弟がおります．そしてその兄は死にました．彼だけがその母に殘されましたので，父は彼を愛しています．』と申し上げました．

"Then you said to your servants, 'Bring him down to me so I can see him for myself.'

And we said to my lord, 'The boy cannot leave his father; if he leaves him, his father will die.'

But you told your servants, 'Unless your youngest brother comes down with you, you will not see my face again.'

When we went back to your servant my father, we told him what my lord had said.

"Then our father said, 'Go back and buy a little more food.'

するとあなたは，しもべどもに，『彼を私のところに連れて來い．私はこの目で彼を見たい．』と言われました．

それで，私たちはあなたさまに，『その子は父親と離れることはできません．父親と離れたら，父親は死ぬでしょう．』と申し上げました．

しかし，あなたはしもべどもに言われました．『末の弟といっしょに下って來なければ，二度とあなたがたは私の顔を見ることはできない．』

それで，私たちは，あなたのしもべである私の父のもとに歸ったとき，父にあなたさまのおことばを傳えました．

それから私たちの父が，『また行って，われわれのために少し食糧を買って來てくれ．』と言ったので，

But we said, 'We cannot go down. Only if our youngest brother is with us will we go. We cannot see the man's face unless our youngest brother is with us.'

"Your servant my father said to us, 'You know that my wife bore me two sons.

One of them went away from me, and I said, "He has surely been torn to pieces." And I have not seen him since.

If you take this one from me too and harm comes to him, you will bring my gray head down to the grave in misery.'

"So now, if the boy is not with us when I go back to your servant my father and if my father, whose life is closely bound up with the boy's life,

私たちは，『私たちは下って行くことはできません．もし，末の弟が私たちといっしょなら，私たちは下って行きます．というのは，末の弟といっしょでなければあの方のお顔を見ることはできないのです．』と答えました．

すると，あなたのしもべである私の父が言いました．『あなたがたも知っているように，私の妻はふたりの子を産んだ．

そしてひとりは私のところから出て行ったきりだ．確かに裂き殺されてしまったのだ，と私は言った．そして，それ以來，今まで私は彼を見ない．

あなたがたがこの子をも私から取ってしまって，この子にわざわいが起こるなら，あなたがたは，しらが頭の私を，苦しみながらよみに下らせることになるのだ．』

私が今，あなたのしもべである私の父のもとへ歸ったとき，あの子が私たちといっしょにいなかったら，父のいのちは彼のいのちにかかっているのですから，

sees that the boy isn't there, he will die. Your servants will bring the gray head of our father down to the grave in sorrow.

Your servant guaranteed the boy's safety to my father. I said, 'If I do not bring him back to you, I will bear the blame before you, my father, all my life!'

"Now then, please let your servant remain here as my lord's slave in place of the boy, and let the boy return with his brothers.

How can I go back to my father if the boy is not with me? No! Do not let me see the misery that would come upon my father."

あの子がいないのを見たら，父は死んでしまうでしょう．そして，しもべどもが，あなたのしもべであるしらが頭の私たちの父を，悲しみながら，よみに下らせることになります．

というのは，このしもべは私の父に，『もし私があの子をあなたのところに連れ戾さなかったら，私は永久にあなたに對して罪ある者となります．』と言って，あの子の保證をしているのです．

ですから，どうか今，このしもべを，あの子の代わりに，あなたさまの奴隷としてとどめ，あの子を兄弟たちと歸らせてください．

あの子が私といっしょでなくて，どうして私は父のところへ歸れましょう．私の父に起こるわざわいを見たくありません．」
