- Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him, and he began to teach them.
- As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.
- While Jesus was having dinner at Levi's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him.
- When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the "sinners" and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: "Why does he eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"
- On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

- イエス はまた 湖のほとりに 出て 行かれた． すると 群衆がみな， みもとにやって 來たので， 彼らに 敎えられた．
- イエス は， 道を 通りながら， アルパヨ の 子 レビ が 收稅所にすわっているのをご 覽になって， 「わたしについて 來なさい． 」と 言われた． すると 彼は 立ち 上がって 從った．
- それから， イエス は， 彼の 家で 食卓に 着かれた． 取稅人や 罪人たちも 大ぜい， イエス や 弟子たちといっしょに 食卓に 着いていた． こういう 人たちが 大ぜいいて， イエス に 從っていたのである．
- パリサイ 派の 律法學者たちは， イエス が 罪人や 取稅人たちといっしょに 食事をしておられるのを 見て， イエス の 弟子たちにこう 言った． 「なぜ， あの 人は 取稅人や 罪人たちといっしょに 食事をするのですか． 」
- イエス はこれを 聞いて， 彼らにこう 言われた． 「醫者を 必要とするのは 丈夫な 者ではなく， 病人です． わたしは 正しい 人を 招くためではなく， 罪人を 招くために 來たのです． 」

- Now John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. Some people came and asked Jesus, "How is it that John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees are fasting, but yours are not?"
- Jesus answered, "How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? They cannot, so long as they have him with them.
- But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and on that day they will fast.
- "No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse.
- And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, he pours new wine into new wineskins."

- ヨハネ の 弟子たちと パリサイ 人たちは 斷食をしていた． そして， イエス のもとに 來て 言った． 「ヨハネ の 弟子たちや パリサイ 人の 弟子たちは 斷食するのに， あなたの 弟子たちはなぜ 斷食しないのですか． 」
- イエス は 彼らに 言われた． 「花¿が 自分たちといっしょにいる 間， 花¿につき 添う 友だちが 斷食できるでしょうか． 花¿といっしょにいる 時は， 斷食できないのです．
- しかし， 花¿が 彼らから 取り 去られる 時が 來ます． その 日には 斷食します．
- だれも， 眞新しい 布切れで 古い 着物の 繼ぎをするようなことはしません． そんなことをすれば， 新しい 繼ぎ 切れは 古い 着物を 引き 裂き， 破れはもっとひどくなります．
- また， だれも 新しいぶどう 酒を 古い 皮袋に 入れるようなことはしません． そんなことをすれば， ぶどう 酒は 皮袋を 張り 裂き， ぶどう 酒も 皮袋もだめになってしまいます． 新しいぶどう 酒は 新しい 皮袋に 入れるのです． 」

- One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain.
- The Pharisees said to him, "Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?"
- He answered, "Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need?
- In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions."
- Then he said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.

- ある 安息日のこと， イエス は 麥畑の 中を 通って 行かれた． すると， 弟子たちが 道¿穗を 摘み 始めた．
- すると， パリサイ 人たちが イエス に 言った． 「ご 覽なさい． なぜ 彼らは， 安息日なのに， してはならないことをするのですか． 」
- イエス は 彼らに 言われた． 「ダビデ とその 連れの 者たちが， 食物がなくてひもじかったとき， ダビデ が 何をしたか， 讀まなかったのですか．
- アビヤタル が 大祭司のころ， ダビデ は 神の 家にはいって， 祭司以外の 者が 食べてはならない 供えの パン を， 自分も 食べ， またともにいた 者たちにも 與えたではありませんか． 」
- また 言われた． 「安息日は 人間のために 設けられたのです． 人間が 安息日のために 造られたのではありません．

- So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."

- 人の 子は 安息日にも 主です． 」
