	사무엘상 26:1-28:25 사울은 다윗을 추격하다가 오히려 다윗에게 죽을 위기를 맞았으나 다윗은 또다시 그를 살려 주었다. 사울을 두려워한 다윗은 가드 왕 아기스에게 도피하였다. 블레셋의 침략에 위급해진 사울은 엔돌의 신접한 여인을 찾아가 사무엘의 혼을 불러 올리게 하였다. 그에게 나타난 사무엘은 사울의 범죄를 지적하며 그의 몰락과 죽음을 예고했다.

	사울을 다시 살려 준 다윗(26:1-26:25)

The Ziphites went to Saul at Gibeah and said, "Is not David hiding on the hill of Hakilah, which faces Jeshimon?"

So Saul went down to the Desert of Ziph, with his three thousand chosen men of Israel, to search there for David.

Saul made his camp beside the road on the hill of Hakilah facing Jeshimon, but David stayed in the desert. When he saw that Saul had followed him there,

he sent out scouts and learned that Saul had definitely arrived.

Then David set out and went to the place where Saul had camped. He saw where Saul and Abner son of Ner, the commander of the army, had lain down. Saul was lying inside the camp, with the army encamped around him.

そのころジフびとがギベアにおるサウルのもとにきて言った，「ダビデは荒野の前にあるハキラの山に隱れているではありませんか」．

サウルは立って，ジフの荒野でダビデを搜すために，イスラエルのうちから選んだ三千人をひき連れて，ジフの荒野に下った．

David then asked Ahimelech the Hittite and Abishai son of Zeruiah, Joab's brother, "Who will go down into the camp with me to Saul?" "I'll go with you," said Abishai.

So David and Abishai went to the army by night, and there was Saul, lying asleep inside the camp with his spear stuck in the ground near his head. Abner and the soldiers were lying around him.

Abishai said to David, "Today God has delivered your enemy into your hands. Now let me pin him to the ground with one thrust of my spear; I won't strike him twice."

But David said to Abishai, "Don't destroy him! Who can lay a hand on the LORD's anointed and be guiltless?

As surely as the LORD lives," he said, "the LORD himself will strike him; either his time will come and he will die, or he will go into battle and perish.

But the LORD forbid that I should lay a hand on the LORD's anointed. Now get the spear and water jug that are near his head, and let's go."

So David took the spear and water jug near Saul's head, and they left. No one saw or knew about it, nor did anyone wake up. They were all sleeping, because the LORD had put them into a deep sleep.

Then David crossed over to the other side and stood on top of the hill some distance away; there was a wide space between them.

He called out to the army and to Abner son of Ner, "Aren't you going to answer me, Abner?" Abner replied, "Who are you who calls to the king?"

David said, "You're a man, aren't you? And who is like you in Israel? Why didn't you guard your lord the king? Someone came to destroy your lord the king.

主が油を注がれた者に向かって，わたしが手をのべることを主は禁じられる．しかし今，そのまくらもとにあるやりと水のびんを取りなさい．そしてわれわれは去ろう」．

What you have done is not good. As surely as the LORD lives, you and your men deserve to die, because you did not guard your master, the LORD's anointed. Look around you. Where are the king's spear and water jug that were near his head?"

Saul recognized David's voice and said, "Is that your voice, David my son?" David replied, "Yes it is, my lord the king."

And he added, "Why is my lord pursuing his servant? What have I done, and what wrong am I guilty of?

Now let my lord the king listen to his servant's words. If the LORD has incited you against me, then may he accept an offering. If, however, men have done it, may they be cursed before the LORD! They have now driven me from my share in the LORD's inheritance and have said, 'Go, serve other gods.'

Now do not let my blood fall to the ground far from the presence of the LORD. The king of Israel has come out to look for a flea--as one hunts a partridge in the mountains."

あなたがしたこの事は良くない．主は生きておられる．あなたがたは，まさに死に値する．主が油をそそがれた，あなたの主君を守らなかったからだ．いま王のやりがどこにあるか．その枕もとにあった水のびんがどこにあるかを見なさい」．

サウルはダビデの聲を聞きわけて言った，「わが子ダビデよ，これはあなたの聲か」．ダビデは言った，「王，わが君よ，わたしの聲です」．

ダビデはまた言った，「わが君はどうしてしもべのあとを追われるのですか．わたしが何をしたのですか．わたしの手になんのわるいことがあるのですか．

王，わが君よ，どうぞ，今しもべの言葉を聞いてください．もし主があなたを動かして，わたしの敵とされたのであれば，どうぞ主が供え物を受けて和らいでくださるように．もし，それが人であるならば，どうぞその人¿が主の前にのろいを受けるように．彼らが『おまえは行って他の神¿に仕えなさい』と言って，きょう，わたしを追い出し，主の嗣業にあずかることができないようにしたからです．

それゆえ今，主の前を離れて，わたしの血が地に落ちることのないようにしてください．イスラエルの王は，人が山で，しゃこを追うように，わたしの命を取ろうとして出てこられたのです」．

Then Saul said, "I have sinned. Come back, David my son. Because you considered my life precious today, I will not try to harm you again. Surely I have acted like a fool and have erred greatly."

"Here is the king's spear," David answered. "Let one of your young men come over and get it.

The LORD rewards every man for his righteousness and faithfulness. The LORD delivered you into my hands today, but I would not lay a hand on the LORD's anointed.

As surely as I valued your life today, so may the LORD value my life and deliver me from all trouble."

Then Saul said to David, "May you be blessed, my son David; you will do great things and surely triumph." So David went on his way, and Saul returned home.

その時，サウルは言った，「わたしは罪を犯した．わが子ダビデよ，歸ってきてください．きょう，わたしの命があなたの目に尊く見られたゆえ，わたしは，もはやあなたに害を加えないであろう．わたしは愚かなことをして，非常なまちがいをした」．

きょう，わたしがあなたの命を重んじたように，どうぞ主がわたしの命を重んじて，もろもろの苦難から救い出してくださるように」．

サウルはダビデに言った，「わが子ダビデよ，あなたはほむべきかな．あなたは多くの事をおこなって，それをなし遂げるであろう」．こうしてダビデはその道を行き，サウルは自分の所へ歸った．

	다윗의 블레셋 망명(27:1-27:12)

But David thought to himself, "One of these days I will be destroyed by the hand of Saul. The best thing I can do is to escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will give up searching for me anywhere in Israel, and I will slip out of his hand."

So David and the six hundred men with him left and went over to Achish son of Maoch king of Gath.

David and his men settled in Gath with Achish. Each man had his family with him, and David had his two wives: Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail of Carmel, the widow of Nabal.

When Saul was told that David had fled to Gath, he no longer searched for him.

Then David said to Achish, "If I have found favor in your eyes, let a place be assigned to me in one of the country towns, that I may live there. Why should your servant live in the royal city with you?"

ダビデは心にうちに言った，「わたしは，いつかはサウルの手にかかって滅ぼされるであろう．早くペリシテびとの地へのがれるほかはない．そうすればサウルはこの上イスラエルの地にわたしをくまなく搜すことはやめ，わたしは彼の手からのがれることができるであろう」．

こうしてダビデは，共にいた六百人と一緖に，立ってガテの王マオクの子アキシの所へ行った．

ダビデと從者たちは，おのおのその家族とともに，ガテでアキシと共に住んだ．ダビデはそのふたりの妻，すなわちエズレルの女アヒノアムと，カルメルの女でナバルの妻であったアビガイルと共におった．

ダビデがガテにのがれたことがサウルに聞えたので，サウルはもはや彼を搜さなかった．

さてダビデはアキシに言った，「もしわたしがあなたの前に惠みを得るならば，どうぞ，いなかにある町のうちで一つの場所をわたしに與えてそこに住まわせてください．どうしてしもべがあなたと共に王の町に住むことができましょうか」．

So on that day Achish gave him Ziklag, and it has belonged to the kings of Judah ever since.

David lived in Philistine territory a year and four months.

Now David and his men went up and raided the Geshurites, the Girzites and the Amalekites. (From ancient times these peoples had lived in the land extending to Shur and Egypt.)

Whenever David attacked an area, he did not leave a man or woman alive, but took sheep and cattle, donkeys and camels, and clothes. Then he returned to Achish.

When Achish asked, "Where did you go raiding today?" David would say, "Against the Negev of Judah" or "Against the Negev of Jerahmeel" or "Against the Negev of the Kenites."

He did not leave a man or woman alive to be brought to Gath, for he thought, "They might inform on us and say, 'This is what David did.' " And such was his practice as long as he lived in Philistine territory.

Achish trusted David and said to himself, "He has become so odious to his people, the Israelites, that he will be my servant forever."

ダビデは男も女も生かしおかず，ひとりをもガテに引いて行かなかった．それはダビデが，「恐らくは，彼らが，『ダビデはこうした』と言って，われわれのことを告げるであろう」と思ったからである．ダビデはペリシテびとのいなかに住んでいる間はこうするのが常であった．

アキシはダビデを信じて言った，「彼は自分を全くその民イスラエルに憎まれるようにした．それゆえ彼は永久にわたしのしもべとなるであろう」．

	엔돌의 무당을 찾아간 사울(28:1-28:25)

In those days the Philistines gathered their forces to fight against Israel. Achish said to David, "You must understand that you and your men will accompany me in the army."

David said, "Then you will see for yourself what your servant can do." Achish replied, "Very well, I will make you my bodyguard for life."

Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had mourned for him and buried him in his own town of Ramah. Saul had expelled the mediums and spiritists from the land.

The Philistines assembled and came and set up camp at Shunem, while Saul gathered all the Israelites and set up camp at Gilboa.

When Saul saw the Philistine army, he was afraid; terror filled his heart.

そのころ，ペリシテびとがイスラエルと戰おうとして，いくさのために軍勢を集めたので，アキシはダビデに言った，「あなたは，しかと承知してください．あなたとあなたの從者たちとは，わたしと共に出て，軍勢に加わらなければなりません」．

He inquired of the LORD, but the LORD did not answer him by dreams or Urim or prophets.

Saul then said to his attendants, "Find me a woman who is a medium, so I may go and inquire of her." "There is one in Endor," they said.

So Saul disguised himself, putting on other clothes, and at night he and two men went to the woman. "Consult a spirit for me," he said, "and bring up for me the one I name."

But the woman said to him, "Surely you know what Saul has done. He has cut off the mediums and spiritists from the land. Why have you set a trap for my life to bring about my death?"

Saul swore to her by the LORD, "As surely as the LORD lives, you will not be punished for this."

そこでサウルは主に伺いをたてたが，主は夢によっても，ウリムによっても，預言者によっても彼に答えられなかった．

サウルはしもべたちに言った，「わたしのために，口寄せの女を搜し出しなさい．わたしは行ってその女に尋ねよう」．しもべたちは彼に言った，「見よ，エンドルにひとりの口寄せがいます」．

サウルは姿を變えてほかの着物をまとい，ふたりの從者を伴って行き，夜の間に，その女の所にきた．そしてサウルは言った，「わたしのために口寄せの術を行って，わたしがあなたに告げる人を呼び起してください」．

女は彼に言った，「あなたはサウルがしたことをごぞんじでしょう．彼は口寄せや占い師をその國から斷ち滅ぼしました．どうしてあなたは，わたしの命にわなをかけて，わたしを死なせようとするのですか」．

サウルは主をさして彼女に誓って言った，「主は生きておられる．この事のためにあなたが罰を受けることはないでしょう」．

Then the woman asked, "Whom shall I bring up for you?" "Bring up Samuel," he said.

When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out at the top of her voice and said to Saul, "Why have you deceived me? You are Saul!"

The king said to her, "Don't be afraid. What do you see?" The woman said, "I see a spirit coming up out of the ground."

"What does he look like?" he asked. "An old man wearing a robe is coming up," she said. Then Saul knew it was Samuel, and he bowed down and prostrated himself with his face to the ground.

Samuel said to Saul, "Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?" "I am in great distress," Saul said. "The Philistines are fighting against me, and God has turned away from me. He no longer answers me, either by prophets or by dreams. So I have called on you to tell me what to do."

女は言った，「あなたのためにだれを呼び起しましょうか」．サウルは言った，「サムエルを呼び起してください」．

女はサムエルを見た時，大聲で叫んだ．そしてその女はサウルに言った，「どうしてあなたはわたしを欺かれたのですか．あなたはサウルです」．

Samuel said, "Why do you consult me, now that the LORD has turned away from you and become your enemy?

The LORD has done what he predicted through me. The LORD has torn the kingdom out of your hands and given it to one of your neighbors--to David.

Because you did not obey the LORD or carry out his fierce wrath against the Amalekites, the LORD has done this to you today.

The LORD will hand over both Israel and you to the Philistines, and tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The LORD will also hand over the army of Israel to the Philistines."

Immediately Saul fell full length on the ground, filled with fear because of Samuel's words. His strength was gone, for he had eaten nothing all that day and night.

サムエルは言った，「主があなたを離れて，あなたの敵となられたのに，どうしてあなたはわたしに問うのですか．

When the woman came to Saul and saw that he was greatly shaken, she said, "Look, your maidservant has obeyed you. I took my life in my hands and did what you told me to do.

Now please listen to your servant and let me give you some food so you may eat and have the strength to go on your way."

He refused and said, "I will not eat." But his men joined the woman in urging him, and he listened to them. He got up from the ground and sat on the couch.

The woman had a fattened calf at the house, which she butchered at once. She took some flour, kneaded it and baked bread without yeast.

Then she set it before Saul and his men, and they ate. That same night they got up and left.

女はサウルのもとにきて，彼のおののいているのを見て言った，「あなたのつかえめは，あなたの聲に聞き從い，わたしの命をかけて，あなたの言われた言葉に從いました．

それゆえ今あなたも，つかえめの聲に聞き從い，一口のパンをあなたの前にそなえさせてください．あなたはそれをめしあがって力をつけ，道を行ってください」．

ところがサウルは斷って言った，「わたしは食べません」．しかし彼のしもべたちも，その女もしいてすすめたので，サウルはその言葉を聞きいれ，地から起きあがり，床の上にすわった．

その女は家に肥えた子牛があったので，急いでそれをほふり，また麥粉をとり，こねて，種入れぬパンを燒き，

サウルとそのしもべたちの前に持ってきたので，彼らは食べた．そして彼らは立ち上がって，その夜のうちに去った．
