열왕기상 19:1-20:21

 갈멜 산상의 대승으로 우상을 타파하고 야웨 신앙을 재건할 수 있으리라 기대했던 엘리야는 오히려 이세벨이 더 혹독한 보복 행위에 나서자 심히 낙심하여 도피하였다. 실의와 비탄에 잠겨 있던 엘리야는 호렙 산에서 하나님을 만나 위로를 받고 새로운 힘과 사명을 부여받았다. 한편 아람 왕 벤하닷이 사마리아를 침공했지만, 아합군은 한 선지자의 도움으로 대승을 거두었다.
  
  호렙 산에서 하나님을 만남(19:1-19:21)    
 
  1. Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword.
  2. So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, "May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them."
  3. Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there,
  4. while he himself went a day's journey into the desert. He came to a broom tree, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. "I have had enough, LORD," he said. "Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors."
  5. Then he lay down under the tree and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, "Get up and eat."
  1. アハブ は エリヤ のしたすべての 事， また 彼がすべての 預言者を 刀で 殺したことを イゼベル に 告げたので，
  2. イゼベル は 使者を エリヤ につかわして 言った， 「もしわたしが， あすの 今ごろ， あなたの 命をあの 人¿のひとりの 命のようにしていないならば， 神¿がどんなにでも， わたしを 罰してくださるように 」．
  3. そこで エリヤ は 恐れて， 自分の 命を 救うために 立って 逃げ， ユダ に 屬する ベエルシバ へ 行って， しもべをそこに 殘し，
  4. 自分は 一日の 道のりほど 荒野にはいって 行って， れだまの 木の 下に 座し， 自分の 死を 求めて 言った， 「主よ， もはや， じゅうぶんです． 今わたしの 命を 取ってください． わたしは 先祖にまさる 者ではありません 」．
  5. 彼はれだまの 木の 下に 伏して 眠ったが， 天の 使が 彼にさわり， 「起きて 食べなさい 」と 言ったので，
  1. He looked around, and there by his head was a cake of bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.
  2. The angel of the LORD came back a second time and touched him and said, "Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you."
  3. So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.
  4. There he went into a cave and spent the night. And the word of the LORD came to him: "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
  5. He replied, "I have been very zealous for the LORD God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, broken down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too."
  1. 起きて 見ると， 頭のそばに， 燒け 石の 上で 燒いた パン 一個と， 一びんの 水があった． 彼は 食べ， かつ 飮んでまた 寢た．
  2. 主の 使は 再びきて， 彼にさわって 言った， 「起きて 食べなさい． 道が 遠くて 耐えられないでしょうから 」．
  3. 彼は 起きて 食べ， かつ 飮み， その 食物で 力づいて 四十日四十夜行って， 神の 山 ホレブ に 着いた．
  4. その 所で 彼はほら 穴にはいって， そこに 宿ったが， 主の 言葉が 彼に 臨んで， 彼に 言われた， 「エリヤ よ， あなたはここで 何をしているのか 」．

  1. The LORD said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by." Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake.
  2. After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
  3. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
  4. He replied, "I have been very zealous for the LORD God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, broken down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too."
  5. The LORD said to him, "Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there, anoint Hazael king over Aram.
  1. 主は 言われた， 「出て， 山の 上で 主の 前に， 立ちなさい 」． その 時主は 通り 過ぎられ， 主の 前に 大きな 强い 風が 吹き， 山を 裂き， 岩を ¿いた． しかし 主は 風の 中におられなかった． 風の 後に 地震があったが， 地震の 中にも 主はおられなかった．
  2. 地震の 後に 火があったが， 火の 中にも 主はおられなかった． 火の 後に 靜かな 細い 聲が 聞えた．
  3. エリヤ はそれを 聞いて 顔を 外套に 包み， 出てほら 穴の 口に 立つと， 彼に 語る 聲が 聞えた， 「エリヤ よ， あなたはここで 何をしているのか 」．

  1. Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet.
  2. Jehu will put to death any who escape the sword of Hazael, and Elisha will put to death any who escape the sword of Jehu.
  3. Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel--all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and all whose mouths have not kissed him."
  4. So Elijah went from there and found Elisha son of Shaphat. He was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen, and he himself was driving the twelfth pair. Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak around him.
  5. Elisha then left his oxen and ran after Elijah. "Let me kiss my father and mother good-by," he said, "and then I will come with you." "Go back," Elijah replied. "What have I done to you?"
  1. また ニムシ の 子 エヒウ に 油を 注いで イスラエル の 王としなさい． また アベルメホラ の シャパテ の 子 エリシャ に 油を 注いで， あなたに 代って 預言者としなさい．
  2. ハザエル のつるぎをのがれる 者を エヒウ が 殺し， エヒウ のつるぎをのがれる 者を エリシャ が 殺すであろう．
  3. また， わたしは イスラエル のうちに 七千人を 殘すであろう． 皆 バアル にひざをかがめず， それに 口づけしない 者である 」．
  4. さて エリヤ はそこを 去って 行って， シャパテ の 子 エリシャ に 會った． 彼は 十二くびきの 牛を 前に 行かせ， 自分は 十二番目のくびきと 共にいて 耕していた． エリヤ は 彼のかたわらを 通り 過ぎて 外套を 彼の 上にかけた．
  5. エリシャ は 牛を 捨て， エリヤ のあとに 走ってきて 言った， 「わたしの 父母に 口づけさせてください． そして 後あなたに 從いましょう 」． エリヤ は 彼に 言った， 「行ってきなさい． わたしはあなたに 何をしましたか 」．
  1. So Elisha left him and went back. He took his yoke of oxen and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his attendant.
  1. エリシャ は 彼を 離れて 歸り， ひとくびきの 牛を 取って 殺し， 牛のくびきを 燃やしてその 肉を 煮， それを 民に 與えて 食べさせ， 立って 行って エリヤ に 從い， 彼に 仕えた．
 
  아람과의 전쟁(20:1-20:21)    
 
  1. Now Ben-Hadad king of Aram mustered his entire army. Accompanied by thirty-two kings with their horses and chariots, he went up and besieged Samaria and attacked it.
  2. He sent messengers into the city to Ahab king of Israel, saying, "This is what Ben-Hadad says:
  3. 'Your silver and gold are mine, and the best of your wives and children are mine.' "
  4. The king of Israel answered, "Just as you say, my lord the king. I and all I have are yours."
  5. The messengers came again and said, "This is what Ben-Hadad says: 'I sent to demand your silver and gold, your wives and your children.
  1. スリヤ の 王 ベネハダデ はその 軍勢をことごとく 集めた． 三十二人の 王が 彼と 共におり， また 馬と 戰車もあった． 彼は 上って サマリヤ を 圍み， これを 攻めた．
  2. また 彼は 町に 使者をつかわし， イスラエル の 王 アハブ に 言った， 「ベネハダデ はこう 申します，
  3. 『あなたの 金銀はわたしのもの， またあなたの 妻たちと 子供たちの 最も 美しい 者もわたしのものです 』」．
  4. イスラエル の 王は 答えた， 「王， わが 主よ， 仰せのとおり， わたしと， わたしの 持ち 物は 皆あなたのものです 」．
  5. 使者は 再びきて 言った， 「ベネハダデ はこう 申します， 『わたしはさきに 人をつかわして， あなたの 金銀， 妻子を 引きわたせと 言いました．
  1. But about this time tomorrow I am going to send my officials to search your palace and the houses of your officials. They will seize everything you value and carry it away.' "
  2. The king of Israel summoned all the elders of the land and said to them, "See how this man is looking for trouble! When he sent for my wives and my children, my silver and my gold, I did not refuse him."
  3. The elders and the people all answered, "Don't listen to him or agree to his demands."
  4. So he replied to Ben-Hadad's messengers, "Tell my lord the king, 'Your servant will do all you demanded the first time, but this demand I cannot meet.' " They left and took the answer back to Ben-Hadad.
  5. Then Ben-Hadad sent another message to Ahab: "May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if enough dust remains in Samaria to give each of my men a handful."
  1. しかし， あすの 今ごろ， しもべたちをあなたにつかわします． 彼らはあなたの 家と， あなたの 家來の 家を 探って， すべて 彼らの 氣にいる 物を 手に 入れて 奪い 去るでしょう 』」．

  3. すべての 長老および 民は 皆彼に 言った， 「聞いてはなりません． 承諾してはなりません 」．
  4. それで 彼は ベネハダデ の 使者に 言った， 「王， わが 主に 告げなさい． 『あなたが 初めに 要求されたことは 皆いたしましょう． しかし 今度の 事はできません 』」． 使者は 去って 復命した．
  5. ベネハダデ は 彼に 人をつかわして 言った， 「もし サマリヤ のちりが， わたしに 從うすべての 民の 手を 滿たすに 足りるならば， 神¿がどんなにでも， わたしを 罰してくださるように 」．
  1. The king of Israel answered, "Tell him: 'One who puts on his armor should not boast like one who takes it off.' "
  2. Ben-Hadad heard this message while he and the kings were drinking in their tents, and he ordered his men: "Prepare to attack." So they prepared to attack the city.
  3. Meanwhile a prophet came to Ahab king of Israel and announced, "This is what the LORD says: 'Do you see this vast army? I will give it into your hand today, and then you will know that I am the LORD.' "
  4. "But who will do this?" asked Ahab. The prophet replied, "This is what the LORD says: 'The young officers of the provincial commanders will do it.' " "And who will start the battle?" he asked. The prophet answered, "You will."
  5. So Ahab summoned the young officers of the provincial commanders, 232 men. Then he assembled the rest of the Israelites, 7,000 in all.
  1. イスラエル の 王は 答えた， 「『武具を 帶びる 者は， それを 脫ぐ 者のように 誇ってはならない 』と 告げなさい 」．
  2. ベネハダデ は 假小屋で， 王たちと 酒を 飮んでいたが， この 事を 聞いて， その 家來たちに 言った， 「戰いの 備えをせよ 」． 彼らは 町にむかって 戰いの 備えをした．
  3. この 時ひとりの 預言者が イスラエル の 王 アハブ のもとにきて 言った， 「主はこう 仰せられる， 『あなたはこの 大軍を 見たか． わたしはきょう， これをあなたの 手にわたす． あなたは， わたしが 主であることを， 知るようになるであろう 』」．
  4. アハブ は 言った， 「だれにさせましょうか 」． 彼は 言った， 「主はこう 仰せられる， 『地方の 代官の 家來たちにさせよ 』」． アハブ は 言った， 「だれが 戰いを 始めましょうか 」． 彼は 答えた， 「あなたです 」．
  5. そこで アハブ は 地方の 代官の 家來たちを 調べたところ 二百三十二人あった． 次にすべての 民， すなわち イスラエル のすべての 人を 調べたところ 七千人あった．
  1. They set out at noon while Ben-Hadad and the 32 kings allied with him were in their tents getting drunk.
  2. The young officers of the provincial commanders went out first. Now Ben-Hadad had dispatched scouts, who reported, "Men are advancing from Samaria."
  3. He said, "If they have come out for peace, take them alive; if they have come out for war, take them alive."
  4. The young officers of the provincial commanders marched out of the city with the army behind them
  5. and each one struck down his opponent. At that, the Arameans fled, with the Israelites in pursuit. But Ben-Hadad king of Aram escaped on horseback with some of his horsemen.
  1. 彼らは ¿ごろ 出ていったが， ベネハダデ は 假小屋で， 味方の 三十二人の 王たちと 共に 酒を 飮んで 醉っていた．
  2. 地方の 代官の 家來たちが 先に 出ていった． ベネハダデ は 斥候をつかわしたが， 彼らは「サマリヤ から 人¿が 出てきた 」と 報告したので，
  3. 彼は 言った， 「和解のために 出てきたのであっても， 生どりにせよ． また 戰いのために 出てきたのであっても， 生どりにせよ 」．
  4. 地方の 代官の 家來たちと， それに 從う 軍勢が 町から 出ていって，
  5. おのおのその 相手を 擊ち 殺したので， スリヤ びとは 逃げた． イスラエル はこれを 追ったが， スリヤ の 王 ベネハダデ は 馬に 乘り， 騎兵を 從えてのがれた．
  1. The king of Israel advanced and overpowered the horses and chariots and inflicted heavy losses on the Arameans.
  1. イスラエル の 王は 出ていって， 馬と 戰車をぶんどり， また 大いに スリヤ びとを 擊ち 殺した．
