- I repeat: Let no one take me for a fool. But if you do, then receive me just as you would a fool, so that I may do a little boasting.

- 繰り 返して 言うが， だれも， わたしを 愚か 者と 思わないでほしい． もしそう 思うなら， 愚か 者あつかいにされてもよいから， わたしにも， 少し 誇らせてほしい．
- いま 言うことは， 主によって 言うのではなく， 愚か 者のように， 自分の 誇とするところを 信じきって 言うのである．

- To my shame I admit that we were too weak for that! What anyone else dares to boast about--I am speaking as a fool--I also dare to boast about.

- 言うのも 恥ずかしいことだが， わたしたちは 弱すぎたのだ． もしある 人があえて 誇るなら， わたしは 愚か 者になって 言うが， わたしもあえて 誇ろう．

- ユダヤ 人から 四十に 一つ 足りないむちを 受けたことが 五度，
- ロ ― マ 人にむちで 打たれたことが 三度， 石で 打たれたことが 一度， 難船したことが 三度， そして， 一¿夜， 海の 上を 漂ったこともある．

- I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my own countrymen, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false brothers.
