- Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil.
- After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
- The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread."
- Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"
- Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.

- さて， イエス は 惡魔から 誘惑を 受けるため， “靈 ＂に 導かれて 荒れ 野に 行かれた．
- そして 四十日間， ¿も 夜も 斷食した 後， 空腹を 覺えられた．
- すると， 誘惑する 者が 來て， イエス に 言った． 「神の 子なら， これらの 石が パン になるように 命じたらどうだ． 」
- イエス はお 答えになった． 「『人は パン だけで 生きるものではない． 神の 口から 出る 一つ 一つの 言葉で 生きる 』／と 書いてある． 」
- 次に， 惡魔は イエス を 聖なる 都に 連れて 行き， 神殿の 屋根の 端に 立たせて，

- "If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written: " 'He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'"
- Jesus answered him, "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"
- Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.
- "All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me."
- Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'"

- 言った． 「神の 子なら， 飛び 降りたらどうだ． 『神があなたのために 天使たちに 命じると， ／あなたの 足が 石に 打ち 當たることのないように， ／天使たちは 手であなたを 支える 』／と 書いてある． 」
- イエス は， 「『あなたの 神である 主を 試してはならない 』とも 書いてある 」と 言われた．
- 更に， 惡魔は イエス を 非常に 高い 山に 連れて 行き， 世のすべての 國¿とその 繁榮ぶりを 見せて，
- 「もし， ひれ 伏してわたしを 拜むなら， これをみんな 與えよう 」と 言った．
- すると， イエス は 言われた． 「退け， サタン ． 『あなたの 神である 主を 拜み， ／ただ 主に 仕えよ 』／と 書いてある． 」

- Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
- When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he returned to Galilee.
- Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali--
- to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah:
- "Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way to the sea, along the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles--

- そこで， 惡魔は 離れ 去った． すると， 天使たちが 來て イエス に 仕えた．
- イエス は， ヨハネ が 捕らえられたと 聞き， ガリラヤ に 退かれた．
- そして， ナザレ を 離れ， ゼブルン と ナフタリ の 地方にある 湖畔の 町 カファルナウム に 來て 住まわれた．
- それは， 預言者 イザヤ を 通して 言われていたことが 實現するためであった．
- 「ゼブルン の 地と ナフタリ の 地， ／湖沿いの 道， ヨルダン 川のかなたの 地， ／異邦人の ガリラヤ ，

- the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned."
- From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."
- As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.
- "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."
- At once they left their nets and followed him.

- 暗闇に 住む 民は 大きな 光を 見， ／死の 陰の 地に 住む 者に 光が 射し ¿んだ． 」
- そのときから， イエス は， 「悔い 改めよ． 天の 國は 近づいた 」と 言って， 宣べ 傳え 始められた．
- イエス は， ガリラヤ 湖のほとりを 步いておられたとき， 二人の 兄弟， ペトロ と 呼ばれる シモン とその 兄弟 アンデレ が， 湖で 網を 打っているのを 御覽になった． 彼らは 漁師だった．
- イエス は， 「わたしについて 來なさい． 人間をとる 漁師にしよう 」と 言われた．
- 二人はすぐに 網を 捨てて 從った．

- Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them,
- and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
- Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.
- News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them.
- Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him.

- そこから 進んで， 別の 二人の 兄弟， ゼベダイ の 子 ヤコブ とその 兄弟 ヨハネ が， 父親の ゼベダイ と 一緖に， 舟の 中で 網の 手入れをしているのを 御覽になると， 彼らをお 呼びになった．
- この 二人もすぐに， 舟と 父親とを 殘して イエス に 從った．
- イエス は ガリラヤ 中を 回って， 諸會堂で 敎え， 御國の 福音を 宣べ 傳え， また， 民衆のありとあらゆる 病氣や 患いをいやされた．
- そこで， イエス の 評判が シリア 中に 廣まった． 人¿が イエス のところへ， いろいろな 病氣や 苦しみに 惱む 者， 惡靈に 取りつかれた 者， てんかんの 者， 中風の 者など， あらゆる 病人を 連れて 來たので， これらの 人¿をいやされた．
- こうして， ガリラヤ ， デカポリス ， エルサレム ， ユダヤ ， ヨルダン 川の 向こう 側から， 大勢の 群衆が 來て イエス に 從った．
