- Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him, and he began to teach them.
- As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.
- While Jesus was having dinner at Levi's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him.
- When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the "sinners" and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: "Why does he eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"
- On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

- イエス は， 再び 湖のほとりに 出て 行かれた． 群衆が 皆そばに 集まって 來たので， イエス は 敎えられた．
- そして 通りがかりに， アルファイ の 子 レビ が 收稅所に 座っているのを 見かけて， 「わたしに 從いなさい 」と 言われた． 彼は 立ち 上がって イエス に 從った．
- イエス が レビ の 家で 食事の 席に 着いておられたときのことである． 多くの 徵稅人や 罪人も イエス や 弟子たちと 同席していた． 實に 大勢の 人がいて， イエス に 從っていたのである．
- ファリサイ 派の 律法學者は， イエス が 罪人や 徵稅人と 一緖に 食事をされるのを 見て， 弟子たちに， 「どうして 彼は 徵稅人や 罪人と 一緖に 食事をするのか 」と 言った．
- イエス はこれを 聞いて 言われた． 「醫者を 必要とするのは， 丈夫な 人ではなく 病人である． わたしが 來たのは， 正しい 人を 招くためではなく， 罪人を 招くためである． 」

- Now John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. Some people came and asked Jesus, "How is it that John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees are fasting, but yours are not?"
- Jesus answered, "How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? They cannot, so long as they have him with them.
- But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and on that day they will fast.
- "No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse.
- And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, he pours new wine into new wineskins."

- ヨハネ の 弟子たちと ファリサイ 派の 人¿は， 斷食していた． そこで， 人¿は イエス のところに 來て 言った． 「ヨハネ の 弟子たちと ファリサイ 派の 弟子たちは 斷食しているのに， なぜ， あなたの 弟子たちは 斷食しないのですか． 」
- イエス は 言われた． 「花¿が 一緖にいるのに， 婚禮の 客は 斷食できるだろうか． 花¿が 一緖にいるかぎり， 斷食はできない．
- しかし， 花¿が 奪い 取られる 時が 來る． その 日には， 彼らは 斷食することになる．
- だれも， 織りたての 布から 布切れを 取って， 古い 服に 繼ぎを 當てたりはしない． そんなことをすれば， 新しい 布切れが 古い 服を 引き 裂き， 破れはいっそうひどくなる．
- また， だれも， 新しいぶどう 酒を 古い 革袋に 入れたりはしない． そんなことをすれば， ぶどう 酒は 革袋を 破り， ぶどう 酒も 革袋もだめになる． 新しいぶどう 酒は， 新しい 革袋に 入れるものだ． 」

- One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain.
- The Pharisees said to him, "Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?"
- He answered, "Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need?
- In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions."
- Then he said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.

- ある 安息日に， イエス が 麥畑を 通って 行かれると， 弟子たちは 步きながら 麥の 穗を 摘み 始めた．
- ファリサイ 派の 人¿が イエス に， 「御覽なさい． なぜ， 彼らは 安息日にしてはならないことをするのか 」と 言った．
- イエス は 言われた． 「ダビデ が， 自分も 供の 者たちも， 食べ 物がなくて 空腹だったときに 何をしたか， 一度も 讀んだことがないのか．
- アビアタル が 大祭司であったとき， ダビデ は 神の 家に 入り， 祭司のほかにはだれも 食べてはならない 供えの パン を 食べ， 一緖にいた 者たちにも 與えたではないか． 」
- そして 更に 言われた． 「安息日は， 人のために 定められた． 人が 安息日のためにあるのではない．

- So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."

- だから， 人の 子は 安息日の 主でもある． 」
