민수기 22:1-23:30

 이스라엘 자손이 모압 평지에 진을 치자, 위협을 느낀 모압 왕 발락은 우상의 힘이라도 빌려 이를 저지하고자 당대의 유명한 복술가인 발람을 초청하였다. 그러나 하나님께서 발람에게 임하셔서 이스라엘을 저주하는 대신 오히려 축복하게 하셨다.
  
  발락의 발람 초청(22:1-22:41)    
 
  1. Then the Israelites traveled to the plains of Moab and camped along the Jordan across from Jericho.
  2. Now Balak son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites,
  3. and Moab was terrified because there were so many people. Indeed, Moab was filled with dread because of the Israelites.
  4. The Moabites said to the elders of Midian, "This horde is going to lick up everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field." So Balak son of Zippor, who was king of Moab at that time,
  5. sent messengers to summon Balaam son of Beor, who was at Pethor, near the River, in his native land. Balak said: "A people has come out of Egypt; they cover the face of the land and have settled next to me.
  1. イスラエル の 人¿は 更に 進んで， エリコ に 近い ヨルダン 川の 對岸にある モアブ の 平野に 宿營した．
  2. ツィポル の 子 バラク は， イスラエル が アモリ 人に 對してした 事をことごとく 見た．
  3. モアブ は， このおびただしい 數の 民に 恐れを 抱いていた． モアブ は イスラエル の 人¿の 前に 氣力もうせ，

  1. Now come and put a curse on these people, because they are too powerful for me. Perhaps then I will be able to defeat them and drive them out of the country. For I know that those you bless are blessed, and those you curse are cursed."
  2. The elders of Moab and Midian left, taking with them the fee for divination. When they came to Balaam, they told him what Balak had said.
  3. "Spend the night here," Balaam said to them, "and I will bring you back the answer the LORD gives me." So the Moabite princes stayed with him.
  4. God came to Balaam and asked, "Who are these men with you?"
  5. Balaam said to God, "Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, sent me this message:
  1. この 民はわたしよりも 强大だ． 今すぐに 來て， わたしのためにこの 民を 呪ってもらいたい． そうすれば， わたしはこれを 擊ち 破って， この 國から 追い 出すことができるだろう． あなたが 祝福する 者は 祝福され， あなたが 呪う 者は 呪われることを， わたしは 知っている． 」
  2. モアブ と ミディアン の 長老たちは 占いの 禮物を 携えて バラム の 所に 行き， バラク の 言葉を 傳えた．
  3. バラム は 彼らに 言った． 「今夜はここに 泊まりなさい． 主がわたしに 告げられるとおりに， あなたたちに 傳えよう． 」 モアブ の 長たちは， バラム のもとにとどまった．

  1. 'A people that has come out of Egypt covers the face of the land. Now come and put a curse on them for me. Perhaps then I will be able to fight them and drive them away.' "
  2. But God said to Balaam, "Do not go with them. You must not put a curse on those people, because they are blessed."
  3. The next morning Balaam got up and said to Balak's princes, "Go back to your own country, for the LORD has refused to let me go with you."
  4. So the Moabite princes returned to Balak and said, "Balaam refused to come with us."
  5. Then Balak sent other princes, more numerous and more distinguished than the first.
  1. 『今ここに， エジプト から 出て 來た 民がいて， 地の 面を 覆っている． 今すぐに 來て， わたしのために 彼らに 呪いをかけてもらいたい． そうすれば， わたしはこれと 戰って， 追い 出すことができるだろう 』と 申しました． 」
  2. 神は バラム に 言われた． 「あなたは 彼らと 一緖に 行ってはならない． この 民を 呪ってはならない． 彼らは 祝福されているからだ． 」
  3. バラム は 朝起きると， バラク の 長たちに 言った． 「自分の 國に 歸りなさい． 主は， わたしがあなたたちと 一緖に 行くことをお 許しになりません． 」
  4. モアブ の 長たちは 立ち 去り， バラク のもとに 來て， 「バラム はわたしどもと 一緖に 來ることを 承知しませんでした 」と 傳えた．
  5. バラク はもう 一度， 前よりも 多くの， 位の 高い 使者を 遣わした．
  1. They came to Balaam and said: "This is what Balak son of Zippor says: Do not let anything keep you from coming to me,
  2. because I will reward you handsomely and do whatever you say. Come and put a curse on these people for me."
  3. But Balaam answered them, "Even if Balak gave me his palace filled with silver and gold, I could not do anything great or small to go beyond the command of the LORD my God.
  4. Now stay here tonight as the others did, and I will find out what else the LORD will tell me."
  5. That night God came to Balaam and said, "Since these men have come to summon you, go with them, but do only what I tell you."
  1. 彼らは バラム の 所に 來て 言った． 「ツィポル の 子 バラク はこう 申します． 『どうかわたしのところに 來るのを 拒まないでください．
  2. あなたを 大いに 優遇します． あなたが 言われることは 何でもします． どうか 來て， わたしのために イスラエル の 民に 呪いをかけてください． 』」

  4. あなたがたも， 今夜はここにとどまって， 主がわたしに， この 上何とお 告げになるか， 確かめさせてください． 」

  1. Balaam got up in the morning, saddled his donkey and went with the princes of Moab.
  2. But God was very angry when he went, and the angel of the LORD stood in the road to oppose him. Balaam was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him.
  3. When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with a drawn sword in his hand, she turned off the road into a field. Balaam beat her to get her back on the road.
  4. Then the angel of the LORD stood in a narrow path between two vineyards, with walls on both sides.
  5. When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD, she pressed close to the wall, crushing Balaam's foot against it. So he beat her again.
  1. バラム は 朝起きるとろばに 鞍をつけ， モアブ の 長と 共に 出かけた．
  2. ところが， 彼が 出發すると， 神の 怒りが 燃え 上がった． 主の 御使いは 彼を 妨げる 者となって， 道に 立ちふさがった． バラム はろばに 乘り， 二人の 若者を 從えていた．
  3. 主の 御使いが 拔き 身の 劍を 手にして 道に 立ちふさがっているのを 見たろばは， 道をそれて 畑に 踏み ¿んだ． バラム はろばを 打って， 道に 戾そうとした．
  4. 主の 御使いは， ぶどう 畑の 間の 狹い 道に 立っていた． 道の 兩側には 石垣があった．
  5. ろばは 主の 御使いを 見て， 石垣に 體を 押しつけ， バラム の 足も 石垣に 押しつけたので， バラム はまた， ろばを 打った．
  1. Then the angel of the LORD moved on ahead and stood in a narrow place where there was no room to turn, either to the right or to the left.
  2. When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD, she lay down under Balaam, and he was angry and beat her with his staff.
  3. Then the LORD opened the donkey's mouth, and she said to Balaam, "What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?"
  4. Balaam answered the donkey, "You have made a fool of me! If I had a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now."
  5. The donkey said to Balaam, "Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?" "No," he said.
  1. 主の 御使いは 更に 進んで 來て， 右にも 左にもそれる 余地のない 狹い 場所に 立ちふさがった．
  2. ろばは 主の 御使いを 見て， バラム を 乘せたままうずくまってしまった． バラム は 怒りを 燃え 上がらせ， ろばを 杖で 打った．

  5. ろばは バラム に 言った． 「わたしはあなたのろばですし， あなたは 今日までずっとわたしに 乘って 來られたではありませんか． 今まであなたに， このようなことをしたことがあるでしょうか． 」彼は 言った． 「いや， なかった． 」
  1. Then the LORD opened Balaam's eyes, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low and fell facedown.
  2. The angel of the LORD asked him, "Why have you beaten your donkey these three times? I have come here to oppose you because your path is a reckless one before me.
  3. The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. If she had not turned away, I would certainly have killed you by now, but I would have spared her."
  4. Balaam said to the angel of the LORD, "I have sinned. I did not realize you were standing in the road to oppose me. Now if you are displeased, I will go back."
  5. The angel of the LORD said to Balaam, "Go with the men, but speak only what I tell you." So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.
  1. 主はこのとき， バラム の 目を 開かれた． 彼は， 主の 御使いが 拔き 身の 劍を 手にして， 道に 立ちふさがっているのを 見た． 彼は 身をかがめてひれ 伏した．
  2. 主の 御使いは 言った． 「なぜ， このろばを 三度も 打ったのか． 見よ， あなたはわたしに 向かって 道を 進み， 危險だったから， わたしは 妨げる 者として 出て 來たのだ．
  3. このろばはわたしを 見たから， 三度わたしを 避けたのだ． ろばがわたしを 避けていなかったなら， きっと 今は， ろばを 生かしておいても， あなたを 殺していたであろう． 」
  4. バラム は 主の 御使いに 言った． 「わたしの 間違いでした． あなたがわたしの 行く 手に 立ちふさがっておられるのをわたしは 知らなかったのです． もしも， 意に 反するのでしたら， わたしは 引き 返します． 」
  5. 主の 御使いは バラム に 言った． 「この 人たちと 共に 行きなさい． しかし， ただわたしがあなたに 告げることだけを 告げなさい． 」 バラム は バラク の 長たちと 共に 行った．
  1. When Balak heard that Balaam was coming, he went out to meet him at the Moabite town on the Arnon border, at the edge of his territory.
  2. Balak said to Balaam, "Did I not send you an urgent summons? Why didn't you come to me? Am I really not able to reward you?"
  3. "Well, I have come to you now," Balaam replied. "But can I say just anything? I must speak only what God puts in my mouth."
  4. Then Balaam went with Balak to Kiriath Huzoth.
  5. Balak sacrificed cattle and sheep, and gave some to Balaam and the princes who were with him.
  1. バラク は バラム が 來たと 聞くと， モアブ の アル まで 行って 迎えた． この 町は 國境沿いの アルノン 河畔にあった．
  2. バラク は バラム に 言った． 「あなたを 招くために， 何度も 使いを 送らなければなりませんでした． どうして 來られなかったのですか． あなたを 優遇することがわたしにできないでしょうか． 」
  3. バラム は バラク に 答えた． 「御覽のとおり， あなたのところにやって 來ました． しかしわたしに， 何かを 自由に 告げる 力があるでしょうか． わたしは， 神がわたしの 口に 授けられる 言葉だけを 告げねばなりません． 」
  4. バラム は バラク に 同行し， キルヤト · フツォト に 着いた．
  5. バラク は 牛と 羊の 群れを 屠って， バラム に 贈り， また 彼と 共に 歸って 來た 長たちに 贈った．
  1. The next morning Balak took Balaam up to Bamoth Baal, and from there he saw part of the people.

  발람의 예언(23:1-23:30)    
 
  1. Balaam said, "Build me seven altars here, and prepare seven bulls and seven rams for me."
  2. Balak did as Balaam said, and the two of them offered a bull and a ram on each altar.
  3. Then Balaam said to Balak, "Stay here beside your offering while I go aside. Perhaps the LORD will come to meet with me. Whatever he reveals to me I will tell you." Then he went off to a barren height.
  4. God met with him, and Balaam said, "I have prepared seven altars, and on each altar I have offered a bull and a ram."
  5. The LORD put a message in Balaam's mouth and said, "Go back to Balak and give him this message."
  1. バラム は バラク に 言った． 「わたしのために， ここに 七つの 祭壇を 築き， 七頭の 雄牛と 雄羊を 用意しなさい． 」
  2. バラク は， バラム が 言ったとおりにした． そして バラク と バラム は， どの 祭壇にも 雄牛と 雄羊をささげた．

  1. So he went back to him and found him standing beside his offering, with all the princes of Moab.
  2. Then Balaam uttered his oracle: "Balak brought me from Aram, the king of Moab from the eastern mountains. 'Come,' he said, 'curse Jacob for me; come, denounce Israel.'
  3. How can I curse those whom God has not cursed? How can I denounce those whom the LORD has not denounced?
  4. From the rocky peaks I see them, from the heights I view them. I see a people who live apart and do not consider themselves one of the nations.
  5. Who can count the dust of Jacob or number the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and may my end be like theirs!"
  1. バラム が 戾ると， バラク は， モアブ の 長たちと 共に， 燒き 盡くす 獻げ 物のそばに 立っていた．
  2. バラム はこの 託宣を 述べた． バラク は アラム から ／ モアブ の 王は 東の 山¿からわたしを 連れて 來た． 「來て， わたしのために ヤコブ を 呪え． 來て， イスラエル をののしれ． 」
  3. 神が 呪いをかけぬものに ／どうしてわたしが 呪いをかけられよう． 主がののしらぬものを ／どうしてわたしがののしれよう．
  4. わたしは 岩山の 頂から 彼らを 見 ／丘の 上から 彼らを 見渡す． 見よ， これは 獨り 離れて 住む 民 ／自分を 諸國の 民のうちに 數えない．
  5. 誰が ヤコブ の 砂粒を 數えられようか． 誰が イスラエル の 無數の 民を 數えられようか． わたしは 正しい 人が 死ぬように 死に ／わたしの 終わりは 彼らと 同じようでありたい．
  1. Balak said to Balaam, "What have you done to me? I brought you to curse my enemies, but you have done nothing but bless them!"
  2. He answered, "Must I not speak what the LORD puts in my mouth?"
  3. Then Balak said to him, "Come with me to another place where you can see them; you will see only a part but not all of them. And from there, curse them for me."
  4. So he took him to the field of Zophim on the top of Pisgah, and there he built seven altars and offered a bull and a ram on each altar.
  5. Balaam said to Balak, "Stay here beside your offering while I meet with him over there."
  1. バラク は バラム に， 「あなたは， 何ということをしたのですか． わたしは 敵に 呪いをかけるために， あなたを 連れて 來たのに， あなたは 彼らを 祝福してしまった 」と 言うと，

  1. The LORD met with Balaam and put a message in his mouth and said, "Go back to Balak and give him this message."
  2. So he went to him and found him standing beside his offering, with the princes of Moab. Balak asked him, "What did the LORD say?"
  3. Then he uttered his oracle: "Arise, Balak, and listen; hear me, son of Zippor.
  4. God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?
  5. I have received a command to bless; he has blessed, and I cannot change it.
  1. 主は バラム に 會い， 彼の 口に 言葉を 授け， 「バラク のもとに 歸ってこう 告げなさい 」と 命じられた．
  2. バラム が 戾ると， バラク は モアブ の 長たちと 共に 燒き 盡くす 獻げ 物のそばに 立っていた． バラク が， 「主は 何と 告げられましたか 」と 尋ねると，
  3. バラム はこの 託宣を 述べた． 立て， バラク よ， 聞け． ツィポル の 子よ， わたしに 耳を 傾けよ．
  4. 神は 人ではないから， 僞ることはない． 人の 子ではないから， 悔いることはない． 言われたことを， なされないことがあろうか． 告げられたことを， 成就されないことがあろうか．
  5. 見よ， 祝福の 命令をわたしは 受けた． 神の 祝福されたものを ／わたしが 取り 消すことはできない．
  1. "No misfortune is seen in Jacob, no misery observed in Israel. The LORD their God is with them; the shout of the King is among them.
  2. God brought them out of Egypt; they have the strength of a wild ox.
  3. There is no sorcery against Jacob, no divination against Israel. It will now be said of Jacob and of Israel, 'See what God has done!'
  4. The people rise like a lioness; they rouse themselves like a lion that does not rest till he devours his prey and drinks the blood of his victims."
  5. Then Balak said to Balaam, "Neither curse them at all nor bless them at all!"
  1. だれも ヤコブ のうちに 災いを 認めず ／ イスラエル のうちに 惱みを 見る 者はない． 彼らの 神， 主が 共にいまし ／彼らのうちに 王をたたえる 聲が 響く．
  2. エジプト から 彼らを 導き 出された 神は ／彼らにとって 野牛の 角のようだ．
  3. ヤコブ のうちにまじないはなく ／ イスラエル のうちに 占いはない． 神はその ¿きを 時に 應じて ヤコブ に 告げ ／ イスラエル に 示される．
  4. 見よ， この 民は 雌獅子のように 身を 起こし ／雄獅子のように 立ち 上がる． 獲物を 食らい， 殺したものの 血を 飮むまで ／身を 橫たえることはない．
  5. バラク は バラム に 言った． 「彼らに 呪いをかけることができないなら， 祝福もしないでください． 」
  1. Balaam answered, "Did I not tell you I must do whatever the LORD says?"
  2. Then Balak said to Balaam, "Come, let me take you to another place. Perhaps it will please God to let you curse them for me from there."
  3. And Balak took Balaam to the top of Peor, overlooking the wasteland.
  4. Balaam said, "Build me seven altars here, and prepare seven bulls and seven rams for me."
  5. Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered a bull and a ram on each altar.
  1. バラム は バラク に 答えた． 「わたしは， 主が 告げられることだけをする， と 言ったではありませんか． 」
  2. バラク は バラム に 言った． 「それでは， あなたを 別の 場所に 連れて 行きましょう． たぶん， それは 神が 正しいとされ， そこからなら， わたしのために 彼らに 呪いをかけることができるかもしれません． 」
  3. バラク は バラム を 連れて， 荒れ 果てた 地を 見下ろす ペオル の 頂に 行った．
  4. バラム は バラク に 言った． 「わたしのために， ここに 七つの 祭壇を 築き， 七頭の 雄牛と 七匹の 雄羊を 用意しなさい． 」
  5. バラク は バラム が 言ったとおりにし， 雄牛と 雄羊をどの 祭壇にもささげた．
