사사기 19:1-20:16

 에브라임 산지에 살던 한 레위인이 자신의 첩이 베냐민 지파의 비류들에게 윤간당하고 죽자 그 시체를 토막 내어 이스라엘 각처로 보냈다. 이 사건을 논의하기 위해 모인 이스라엘 총회는 베냐민 지파에게 비류들을 처벌하여 악을 제거할 것을 요구했으나 베냐민은 이를 거절했다.
  
  레위인의 첩 사건(19:1-19:30)    
 
  1. In those days Israel had no king. Now a Levite who lived in a remote area in the hill country of Ephraim took a concubine from Bethlehem in Judah.
  2. But she was unfaithful to him. She left him and went back to her father's house in Bethlehem, Judah. After she had been there four months,
  3. her husband went to her to persuade her to return. He had with him his servant and two donkeys. She took him into her father's house, and when her father saw him, he gladly welcomed him.
  4. His father-in-law, the girl's father, prevailed upon him to stay; so he remained with him three days, eating and drinking, and sleeping there.
  5. On the fourth day they got up early and he prepared to leave, but the girl's father said to his son-in-law, "Refresh yourself with something to eat; then you can go."
  1. イスラエル に 王がいなかったそのころ， エフライム の 山地の 奧に 一人の レビ 人が 滯在していた． 彼は ユダ の ベツレヘム から 一人の 女を 側女として 迎え 入れた．
  2. しかし， その 側女は 主人を 裏切り， そのもとを 去って ユダ の ベツレヘム の 父の 家に 歸り， 四か 月ほどそこにいた．
  3. 夫は 若者を 伴い， 一阿のろばを 連れて 出で 立ち， 彼女の 後を 追い， その 心に 話しかけて 連れ 戾そうとした． 彼女が 彼を 父の 家に 入れると， 娘の 父は 彼を 見て， 喜び 迎えた．
  4. そのしゅうと， 娘の 父が 引き 止めるので， 彼は 三日間そこにとどまり， 食べて 飮み， 夜を 過ごした．
  5. 四日目の 朝早く 彼は 起きて 出發しようとしたが， 娘の 父が ¿に， 「パン を 一切れ 食べて 元氣をつけ， それから 出かけた 方がいい 」と 言うので，
  1. So the two of them sat down to eat and drink together. Afterward the girl's father said, "Please stay tonight and enjoy yourself."
  2. And when the man got up to go, his father-in-law persuaded him, so he stayed there that night.
  3. On the morning of the fifth day, when he rose to go, the girl's father said, "Refresh yourself. Wait till afternoon!" So the two of them ate together.
  4. Then when the man, with his concubine and his servant, got up to leave, his father-in-law, the girl's father, said, "Now look, it's almost evening. Spend the night here; the day is nearly over. Stay and enjoy yourself. Early tomorrow morning you can get up and be on your way home."
  5. But, unwilling to stay another night, the man left and went toward Jebus (that is, Jerusalem), with his two saddled donkeys and his concubine.
  1. 二人は 一緖に 座り， 食べて 飮んだ． 娘の 父は 男に， 「どうか， もう 一晩泊まってくつろいでください 」と 言った．
  2. 男は 立ち 上がって 出發しようとしたが， しゅうとがしきりに 勸めるので， また 泊まることにした．
  3. 五日目も 朝早く 彼は 出發しようとしたが， 娘の 父が， 「元氣をつけた 方がいい 」と 言うので， 二人は 日の 傾くころまでゆっくり 食事をした．
  4. 彼が 側女と 若者を 連れて 出發しようとすると， そのしゅうと， 娘の 父は， 「日もかげってきて， もう 夕方です． もう 一晩お 泊まりください． 日は 暮れかけています． ここに 泊まってくつろぎ， 明朝早く 起きて 旅路につき， 家に 歸ることにしてはどうですか 」と 言った．
  5. しかし， 男は 泊まろうとせず， 立ち 上がって 出發し， エブス すなわち エルサレム を 目の 前にするところまで 來た． 彼は 鞍をつけた 一阿のろばと 側女を 連れていた．
  1. When they were near Jebus and the day was almost gone, the servant said to his master, "Come, let's stop at this city of the Jebusites and spend the night."
  2. His master replied, "No. We won't go into an alien city, whose people are not Israelites. We will go on to Gibeah."
  3. He added, "Come, let's try to reach Gibeah or Ramah and spend the night in one of those places."
  4. So they went on, and the sun set as they neared Gibeah in Benjamin.
  5. There they stopped to spend the night. They went and sat in the city square, but no one took them into his home for the night.
  1. 彼らが エブス の 近くに 來たとき， 日は 大きく 傾いていた． 若者は 主人に， 「あの エブス 人の 町に 向かい， そこに 泊まることにしてはいかがですか 」と 言ったが，
  2. 主人は， 「イスラエル の 人¿ではないこの 異國人の 町には 入るまい． ギブア まで 進むことにしよ ／う 」と 答えた．
  3. 更に 彼は 若者に， 「さあ， このいずれかの 場所に 近づいて 行き， ギブア か ラマ に 泊まることにしよう 」と 言った．
  4. 彼らは 旅を 續け， ベニヤミン 領の ギブア の 近くで 日は ¿した．
  5. 彼らは ギブア に 入って 泊まろうとして 進み， 町の 廣場に 來て 腰を 下ろした． 彼らを 家に 迎えて 泊めてくれる 者はいなかった．
  1. That evening an old man from the hill country of Ephraim, who was living in Gibeah (the men of the place were Benjamites), came in from his work in the fields.
  2. When he looked and saw the traveler in the city square, the old man asked, "Where are you going? Where did you come from?"
  3. He answered, "We are on our way from Bethlehem in Judah to a remote area in the hill country of Ephraim where I live. I have been to Bethlehem in Judah and now I am going to the house of the LORD. No one has taken me into his house.
  4. We have both straw and fodder for our donkeys and bread and wine for ourselves your servants--me, your maidservant, and the young man with us. We don't need anything."
  5. "You are welcome at my house," the old man said. "Let me supply whatever you need. Only don't spend the night in the square."
  1. 夕暮れに， 一人の 老人が 畑仕事を 終えて 歸って 來た． この 人は エフライム 山地の 出身であったが， ギブア に 滯在していた． 土地の 人¿は ベニヤミン 族であった．
  2. 老人は 目を 上げて， 町の 廣場にいる 旅人を 見， 「どちらにおいでになりますか． どちらからおいでになりましたか 」と 聲をかけた．
  3. 彼は 老人に 答えた． 「わたしたちは， ユダ の ベツレヘム から エフライム 山地の 奧にあるわたしの 鄕里まで， 旅をしているところです． ユダ の ベツレヘム に 行って， 今， 主の 神殿に 歸る 途中ですが， わたしたちを 家に 迎えてくれる 人がいません．
  4. ろばのためのわらも 飼い 葉もありますし， わたしとこの 女， あなたの 僕の 連れている 若者のための パン もぶどう 酒もあります． 必要なものはすべてそろっています． 」
  5. 老人は， 「安心しなさい． あなたが 必要とするものはわたしにまかせなさい． 廣場で 夜を 過ごしてはいけません 」と 言って，
  1. So he took him into his house and fed his donkeys. After they had washed their feet, they had something to eat and drink.
  2. While they were enjoying themselves, some of the wicked men of the city surrounded the house. Pounding on the door, they shouted to the old man who owned the house, "Bring out the man who came to your house so we can have sex with him."
  3. The owner of the house went outside and said to them, "No, my friends, don't be so vile. Since this man is my guest, don't do this disgraceful thing.
  4. Look, here is my virgin daughter, and his concubine. I will bring them out to you now, and you can use them and do to them whatever you wish. But to this man, don't do such a disgraceful thing."
  5. But the men would not listen to him. So the man took his concubine and sent her outside to them, and they raped her and abused her throughout the night, and at dawn they let her go.
  1. 彼らを 自分の 家に 入れ， ろばに 餌を 與えた． 彼らは 足を 洗い， 食べて 飮んだ．
  2. 彼らがくつろいでいると， 町のならず 者が 家を 圍み， 戶をたたいて， 家の 主人である 老人にこう 言った． 「お 前の 家に 來た 男を 出せ． 我¿はその 男を 知りたい． 」
  3. 家の 主人は 彼らのところに 出て 行って 言った． 「兄弟たちよ， それはいけない． 惡いことをしないでください． この 人がわたしの 家に 入った 後で， そのような 非道なふるまいは 許されない．
  4. ここに 處女であるわたしの 娘と， あの 人の 側女がいる． この 二人を 連れ 出すから， 辱め， 思いどおりにするがよい． だがあの 人には 非道なふるまいをしてはならない． 」
  5. しかし， 人¿は 彼に 耳を 貸そうとしなかった． 男が 側女をつかんで， 外にいる 人¿のところへ 押し 出すと， 彼らは 彼女を 知り， 一晩中朝になるまでもてあそび， 朝の 光が 射すころようやく 彼女を 放した．
  1. At daybreak the woman went back to the house where her master was staying, fell down at the door and lay there until daylight.
  2. When her master got up in the morning and opened the door of the house and stepped out to continue on his way, there lay his concubine, fallen in the doorway of the house, with her hands on the threshold.
  3. He said to her, "Get up; let's go." But there was no answer. Then the man put her on his donkey and set out for home.
  4. When he reached home, he took a knife and cut up his concubine, limb by limb, into twelve parts and sent them into all the areas of Israel.
  5. Everyone who saw it said, "Such a thing has never been seen or done, not since the day the Israelites came up out of Egypt. Think about it! Consider it! Tell us what to do!"
  1. 朝になるころ， 女は 主人のいる 家の 入り 口までたどりつき， 明るくなるまでそこに 倒れていた．
  2. 彼女の 主人が 朝起きて， 旅を 續けようと 戶を 開け， 外に 出て 見ると， 自分の 側女が 家の 入り 口で 手を 敷居にかけて 倒れていたので，
  3. 「起きなさい． 出かけよう 」と 言った． しかし， 答えはなかった． 彼は 彼女をろばに 乘せ， 自分の 鄕里に 向かって 旅立った．
  4. 家に 着くと， 彼は 刃物をとって 側女をつかみ， その 體を 十二の 部分に 切り 離し， イスラエル の 全土に 送りつけた．
  5. これを 見た 者は 皆言った． 「イスラエル の 人¿が エジプト の 地から 上って 來た 日から 今日に 至るまで， このようなことは 決して 起こらず， 目にしたこともなかった． このことを 心に 留め， よく 考えて 語れ． 」
 
  이스라엘의 결의(20:1-20:16)    
 
  1. Then all the Israelites from Dan to Beersheba and from the land of Gilead came out as one man and assembled before the LORD in Mizpah.
  2. The leaders of all the people of the tribes of Israel took their places in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand soldiers armed with swords.
  3. (The Benjamites heard that the Israelites had gone up to Mizpah.) Then the Israelites said, "Tell us how this awful thing happened."
  4. So the Levite, the husband of the murdered woman, said, "I and my concubine came to Gibeah in Benjamin to spend the night.
  5. During the night the men of Gibeah came after me and surrounded the house, intending to kill me. They raped my concubine, and she died.
  1. イスラエル の 人¿は 皆出て 來て， ダン から ベエル · シェバ ， また ギレアド の 地まで， 一團となって 一人の 人のようになり， ミツパ で 主の 前に 集まった．
  2. イスラエル の 全部族， すべての 民の 要職にある 者たちも， 神の 民， 劍を 携えた 四十万の 步兵たちの 集いに 參加した．
  3. ベニヤミン の 人¿は， イスラエル の 人¿が ミツパ に 上って 來たことを 傳え 聞いた． イスラエル の 人¿が， 「このような 犯行がどうして 行われたのか 說明してもらいたい 」と 言ったので，
  4. 殺された 女の 夫である レビ 人はこう 答えた． 「ベニヤミン の ギブア に 來て， わたしは 側女と 共に 宿をとっておりました．
  5. ギブア の 首長たちがわたしに 向かって 來て， 夜， わたしの 泊まった 家を 取り 圍み， わたしを 殺そうとし， 側女を 辱めて 死に 至らせたのです．
  1. I took my concubine, cut her into pieces and sent one piece to each region of Israel's inheritance, because they committed this lewd and disgraceful act in Israel.
  2. Now, all you Israelites, speak up and give your verdict."
  3. All the people rose as one man, saying, "None of us will go home. No, not one of us will return to his house.
  4. But now this is what we'll do to Gibeah: We'll go up against it as the lot directs.
  5. We'll take ten men out of every hundred from all the tribes of Israel, and a hundred from a thousand, and a thousand from ten thousand, to get provisions for the army. Then, when the army arrives at Gibeah in Benjamin, it can give them what they deserve for all this vileness done in Israel."
  1. わたしは 側女をつかみ， その 體を 切り 離して， イスラエル の 嗣業の 全耕地に 送りました． 彼らが イスラエル の 中で 極惡非道なことをしたからです．
  2. あなたたち イスラエル のすべての 人¿よ． ここで 話し 合って 協議していただきたい． 」
  3. すべての 民は 一人の 人のように 立ち 上がり， こう 言った． 「我¿はだれも 自分の 天幕に 歸らず， だれも 家に 戾らない．
  4. 我¿が 今， ギブア に 對してなすべきことはこうだ． ギブア に 對してまずくじを 引いて 攻め 上ろう．
  5. イスラエル 全部族から 百人につき 十人， 從って 千人なら 百人， 一万人いれば 千人を 選んで 糧食を 調達させ， 部隊を ベニヤミン の ギブア に 行かせ， ベニヤミン が イスラエル の 中で 行ったすべての 非道を 制裁しよう． 」
  1. So all the men of Israel got together and united as one man against the city.
  2. The tribes of Israel sent men throughout the tribe of Benjamin, saying, "What about this awful crime that was committed among you?
  3. Now surrender those wicked men of Gibeah so that we may put them to death and purge the evil from Israel." But the Benjamites would not listen to their fellow Israelites.
  4. From their towns they came together at Gibeah to fight against the Israelites.
  5. At once the Benjamites mobilized twenty-six thousand swordsmen from their towns, in addition to seven hundred chosen men from those living in Gibeah.
  1. こうして イスラエル の 者が 皆， 一人の 人のように 連帶を 固めてその 町に 向かって 集まった．
  2. イスラエル の 諸部族は， 全 ベニヤミン 族に 人を 送って， こう 告げた． 「あなたたちの 中で 行われたあの 犯行はなんということか．
  3. 今， あのならず 者の 犯人が ギブア にいれば， 引き 渡せ． 犯人を 殺して イスラエル の 中から 惡を 取り 除こう． 」だが， ベニヤミン の 人¿は， その 兄弟たち， イスラエル の 人¿の 聲を 聞こうとはしなかった．
  4. かえって ベニヤミン の 人¿は 町¿から ギブア に 集まり， イスラエル の 人¿と 戰おうとして 出て 來た．
  5. その 日， 町¿からはせ 參じた ベニヤミン の 人¿は， 數を 調べると， 劍を 携えた 兵士二万六千人， そのほかに ギブア の 住民からえり 拔きの 兵士七百人であった．
  1. Among all these soldiers there were seven hundred chosen men who were left-handed, each of whom could sling a stone at a hair and not miss.
  1. 七百人のえり 拔きの 兵士からなるこの 部隊の 皆が 左利きで， 髮の 毛一筋をねらって 石を 投げても， その 的をはずすことがなかった．
