	열왕기하 6:24-8:29 아람군의 포위로 사마리아 성에 극심한 기근과 참상이 있었다. 그러나 엘리사는 사마리아의 회복과 이를 믿지 않고 조롱하는 관리의 죽음을 예언하였고, 결국 그의 예언은 하나님의 전적인 역사로 그대로 성취되었다. 하사엘은 엘리사의 예언대로 아람 왕 벤하닷을 살해하고 왕위에 올랐다. 한편 여호사밧의 뒤를 이은 유다 왕 여호람과 아하시야는 악정을 행하였다.

	아람의 2차 침입(6:24-7:20)

Some time later, Ben-Hadad king of Aram mobilized his entire army and marched up and laid siege to Samaria.

There was a great famine in the city; the siege lasted so long that a donkey's head sold for eighty shekels of silver, and a quarter of a cab of seed pods for five shekels.

As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, "Help me, my lord the king!"

The king replied, "If the LORD does not help you, where can I get help for you? From the threshing floor? From the winepress?"

Then he asked her, "What's the matter?" She answered, "This woman said to me, 'Give up your son so we may eat him today, and tomorrow we'll eat my son.'

その後，アラムの王ベン · ハダドは全軍を召集し，攻め上って來て，サマリアを包圍した．

So we cooked my son and ate him. The next day I said to her, 'Give up your son so we may eat him,' but she had hidden him."

When the king heard the woman's words, he tore his robes. As he went along the wall, the people looked, and there, underneath, he had sackcloth on his body.

He said, "May God deal with me, be it ever so severely, if the head of Elisha son of Shaphat remains on his shoulders today!"

Now Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. The king sent a messenger ahead, but before he arrived, Elisha said to the elders, "Don't you see how this murderer is sending someone to cut off my head? Look, when the messenger comes, shut the door and hold it shut against him. Is not the sound of his master's footsteps behind him?"

While he was still talking to them, the messenger came down to him. And the king said, "This disaster is from the LORD. Why should I wait for the LORD any longer?"

わたしたちはわたしの子供を煮て食べました．しかしその翌日，わたしがこの女に，『あなたの子供をください．その子を食べましょう』と言いますと，この女は自分の子供を隱してしまったのです．」

王はこの女の話を聞いて，衣を裂いた．王は城壁の上を通っていたので，それが民に見えた．王の肌着は粗布であった．

王は言った．「シャファトの子エリシャの首が今日も彼についているなら，神が幾重にもわたしを罰してくださるように．」

Elisha said, "Hear the word of the LORD. This is what the LORD says: About this time tomorrow, a seah of flour will sell for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria."

The officer on whose arm the king was leaning said to the man of God, "Look, even if the LORD should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?" "You will see it with your own eyes," answered Elisha, "but you will not eat any of it!"

Now there were four men with leprosy at the entrance of the city gate. They said to each other, "Why stay here until we die?

If we say, 'We'll go into the city'-the famine is there, and we will die. And if we stay here, we will die. So let's go over to the camp of the Arameans and surrender. If they spare us, we live; if they kill us, then we die."

At dusk they got up and went to the camp of the Arameans. When they reached the edge of the camp, not a man was there,

エリシャは言った．「主の言葉を聞きなさい．主はこう言われる．『明日の今ごろ，サマリアの城門で上等の小麥粉一セアが一シェケル，大麥二セアが一シェケルで賣られる．』」

王の介添えをしていた侍從は神の人に答えた．「主が天に窓を造られたとしても，そんなことはなかろう．」エリシャは言った．「あなたは自分の目でそれを見る．だが，それを食べることはない．」

城門の入り口に重い皮膚病を患う者が四人いて，互いに言い合った．「どうしてわたしたちは死ぬまでここに座っていられようか．

町に入ろうと言ってみたところで，町は飢鴨に見舞われていて，わたしたちはそこで死ぬだけだし，ここに座っていても死ぬだけだ．そうならアラムの陣營に投降しよう．もし彼らが生かしてくれるなら，わたしたちは生き延びることができる．もしわたしたちを殺すなら，死ぬまでのことだ．」

夕暮れに，彼らはアラムの陣營に行こうと立ち上がったが，アラムの陣營の外れまで來たところ，そこにはだれもいなかった．

for the Lord had caused the Arameans to hear the sound of chariots and horses and a great army, so that they said to one another, "Look, the king of Israel has hired the Hittite and Egyptian kings to attack us!"

So they got up and fled in the dusk and abandoned their tents and their horses and donkeys. They left the camp as it was and ran for their lives.

The men who had leprosy reached the edge of the camp and entered one of the tents. They ate and drank, and carried away silver, gold and clothes, and went off and hid them. They returned and entered another tent and took some things from it and hid them also.

Then they said to each other, "We're not doing right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves. If we wait until daylight, punishment will overtake us. Let's go at once and report this to the royal palace."

So they went and called out to the city gatekeepers and told them, "We went into the Aramean camp and not a man was there--not a sound of anyone--only tethered horses and donkeys, and the tents left just as they were."

主が戰車の音や軍馬の音や大軍の音をアラムの陣營に響き渡らせられたため，彼らは，「見よ，イスラエルの王が我¿を攻めるためにヘト人の諸王やエジプトの諸王を買收したのだ」と言い合い，

彼らは行って町の門衛を呼び，こう傳えた．「わたしたちはアラムの陣營に行って來ましたが，そこにはだれもいませんでした．そこには人の聲もなく，ただ馬やろばがつながれたままで，天幕もそのままでした．」

The gatekeepers shouted the news, and it was reported within the palace.

The king got up in the night and said to his officers, "I will tell you what the Arameans have done to us. They know we are starving; so they have left the camp to hide in the countryside, thinking, 'They will surely come out, and then we will take them alive and get into the city.' "

One of his officers answered, "Have some men take five of the horses that are left in the city. Their plight will be like that of all the Israelites left here--yes, they will only be like all these Israelites who are doomed. So let us send them to find out what happened."

So they selected two chariots with their horses, and the king sent them after the Aramean army. He commanded the drivers, "Go and find out what has happened."

They followed them as far as the Jordan, and they found the whole road strewn with the clothing and equipment the Arameans had thrown away in their headlong flight. So the messengers returned and reported to the king.

門衛たちは叫んで，この知らせを中の王家の人¿に知らせた．

夜中に王は起きて家臣たちに言った．「アラム軍が我¿に對して計っていることを敎えよう．我¿が飢えているのを知って，彼らは陣營を出て野に隱れ，『イスラエル人が町から出て來たら，彼らを生け捕りにし，町に攻め入ろう』と思っているのだ．」

家臣の一人がそれにこう答えた．「ここに殘っている馬の中から五頭を選び，それに人を乘せて偵察に送りましょう．彼らも，ここに殘っているイスラエルのすべての民衆，また旣に最期を遂げたイスラエルのすべての民衆と同じ運命にあるのです．」

こうして，彼らが馬と二台の戰車を選ぶと，王は，「行って見てくるように」と命じて，アラムの軍勢の後を追わせた．

彼らはアラム軍の後を追って，ヨルダンまで來たが，その道はどこもアラム軍が慌てて投げ捨てた衣類や武具で滿ちていた．使いの者たちは歸って來てこのことを王に報告した．

Then the people went out and plundered the camp of the Arameans. So a seah of flour sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley sold for a shekel, as the LORD had said.

Now the king had put the officer on whose arm he leaned in charge of the gate, and the people trampled him in the gateway, and he died, just as the man of God had foretold when the king came down to his house.

It happened as the man of God had said to the king: "About this time tomorrow, a seah of flour will sell for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria."

The officer had said to the man of God, "Look, even if the LORD should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?" The man of God had replied, "You will see it with your own eyes, but you will not eat any of it!"

And that is exactly what happened to him, for the people trampled him in the gateway, and he died.

そこで民は出て行ってアラムの陣營で略奪をほしいままにし，主の言葉どおり上等の小麥粉一セアが一シェケル，大麥二セアが一シェケルで賣られるようになった．

王は自分の介添えをしていた例の侍從を城門の管理に當たらせたが，彼は城門で民に踏み倒されて死んだ．王が神の人のところに下って行ったときに，神の人が告げたとおりであった．

	수넴 여인의 기업 회복(8:1-8:6)

Now Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had restored to life, "Go away with your family and stay for a while wherever you can, because the LORD has decreed a famine in the land that will last seven years."

The woman proceeded to do as the man of God said. She and her family went away and stayed in the land of the Philistines seven years.

At the end of the seven years she came back from the land of the Philistines and went to the king to beg for her house and land.

The king was talking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, and had said, "Tell me about all the great things Elisha has done."

Just as Gehazi was telling the king how Elisha had restored the dead to life, the woman whose son Elisha had brought back to life came to beg the king for her house and land. Gehazi said, "This is the woman, my lord the king, and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life."

エリシャは，かつてその子供を生き返らせてやったことのある婦人に言った．「あなたは家族と共に立ち去り，住める所に移り住みなさい．主が飢鴨を呼び起こし，それはこの地にも及んで七年も續くからだ．」

婦人は直ちに神の人の言葉どおりに行動し，家族と共に立ち去り，ペリシテ人の地に七年間住んだ．

七年たってから，その婦人はペリシテ人の地から歸り，王のもとに自分の家と畑の返還を求めて訴え出た．

そのとき，王は神の人の從者ゲハジに話しかけ，「エリシャの行った大いなる業をすべて語り聞かせてくれ」と言っていた．

神の人が死人を生き返らせたことをゲハジが王に語り聞かせていると，ちょうどそのとき，かつて子供を生き返らせてもらった婦人が，自分の家と畑のことで訴えに來たのであった．ゲハジは，「わたしの主君，王よ，これがその婦人です．またこれがその子で，エリシャはこの子を生き返らせたのです」と言った．

The king asked the woman about it, and she told him. Then he assigned an official to her case and said to him, "Give back everything that belonged to her, including all the income from her land from the day she left the country until now."

婦人は王の求めに應じてその事實を語った．そこで王は彼女のために，一人の宦官に次のように命じた．「この婦人の物をすべて返しなさい．またこの地を後にした日から今に至るまでの畑のすべての收穫も返しなさい．」

	하사엘의 등극(8:7-8:29)

Elisha went to Damascus, and Ben-Hadad king of Aram was ill. When the king was told, "The man of God has come all the way up here,"

he said to Hazael, "Take a gift with you and go to meet the man of God. Consult the LORD through him; ask him, 'Will I recover from this illness?' "

Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him as a gift forty camel-loads of all the finest wares of Damascus. He went in and stood before him, and said, "Your son Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to ask, 'Will I recover from this illness?' "

Elisha answered, "Go and say to him, 'You will certainly recover'; but the LORD has revealed to me that he will in fact die."

He stared at him with a fixed gaze until Hazael felt ashamed. Then the man of God began to weep.

エリシャがダマスコに來たとき，アラムの王ベン · ハダドは病氣であった．「神の人がここに來た」と知らせる者があって，

Hazael said, "How could your servant, a mere dog, accomplish such a feat?" "The LORD has shown me that you will become king of Aram," answered Elisha.

Then Hazael left Elisha and returned to his master. When Ben-Hadad asked, "What did Elisha say to you?" Hazael replied, "He told me that you would certainly recover."

But the next day he took a thick cloth, soaked it in water and spread it over the king's face, so that he died. Then Hazael succeeded him as king.

In the fifth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel, when Jehoshaphat was king of Judah, Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat began his reign as king of Judah.

ハザエルは，「どうしてあなたは泣かれるのですか」と尋ねた．エリシャは答えた．「わたしはあなたがイスラエルの人¿に災いをもたらすことを知っているからです．あなたはその砦に火を放ち，若者を劍にかけて殺し，幼子を打ちつけ，妊婦を切り裂きます．」

He was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years.

He walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for he married a daughter of Ahab. He did evil in the eyes of the LORD.

Nevertheless, for the sake of his servant David, the LORD was not willing to destroy Judah. He had promised to maintain a lamp for David and his descendants forever.

In the time of Jehoram, Edom rebelled against Judah and set up its own king.

So Jehoram went to Zair with all his chariots. The Edomites surrounded him and his chariot commanders, but he rose up and broke through by night; his army, however, fled back home.

彼は三十二歲で王となり，八年間エルサレムで王位にあった．

彼はアハブの娘を妻としていたので，アハブの家が行ったように，イスラエルの王たちの道を步み，主の目に惡とされることを行った．

In the twelfth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign.

Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother's name was Athaliah, a granddaughter of Omri king of Israel.

こうしてエドムはユダに反旗を飜してその支配から脫し，今日に至っている．そのころ，同時にリブナが反旗を飜した．

He walked in the ways of the house of Ahab and did evil in the eyes of the LORD, as the house of Ahab had done, for he was related by marriage to Ahab's family.

Ahaziah went with Joram son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth Gilead. The Arameans wounded Joram;

so King Joram returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds the Arameans had inflicted on him at Ramoth in his battle with Hazael king of Aram. Then Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to Jezreel to see Joram son of Ahab, because he had been wounded.

アハズヤはこのようにアハブの家と姻戚關係にあったため，アハブの家の道を步み，アハブの家と同じように主の目に惡とされることを行った．

彼はアハブの子ヨラムと共にアラムの王ハザエルと戰うため，ラモト · ギレアドに行った．しかし，アラム兵がヨラムに傷を負わせた．
