느헤미야 5:1-6:19

 성벽 공사가 어렵게 진행되는 동안 백성들 사이에서 취리 행위로 인한 문제가 발생하였고, 백성들은 부르짖어 불평하였다. 이에 느헤미야는 취리 행위를 금지시키고 발생한 문제들을 해결하였다. 또한 대적들은 느헤미야를 죽이려는 음모를 꾸몄으나 실패로 돌아갔다. 성벽 건축은 완료되었다.
  
  가난한 자들을 도움(5:1-5:19)    
 
  1. Now the men and their wives raised a great outcry against their Jewish brothers.
  2. Some were saying, "We and our sons and daughters are numerous; in order for us to eat and stay alive, we must get grain."
  3. Others were saying, "We are mortgaging our fields, our vineyards and our homes to get grain during the famine."
  4. Still others were saying, "We have had to borrow money to pay the king's tax on our fields and vineyards.
  5. Although we are of the same flesh and blood as our countrymen and though our sons are as good as theirs, yet we have to subject our sons and daughters to slavery. Some of our daughters have already been enslaved, but we are powerless, because our fields and our vineyards belong to others."
  1. 民とその 妻たちから， 同胞の ユダ の 人¿に 對して 大きな 訴えの 叫びがあがった．
  2. ある 者は 言った． 「わたしたちには 多くの 息子や 娘がいる． 食べて 生き 延びるために 穀物がほしい． 」
  3. またある 者は 言った． 「この 飢鴨のときに 穀物を 得るには 畑も， ぶどう 園も， 家も 抵當に 入れなければならない． 」
  4. またある 者は 言った． 「王が 稅をかけるので， 畑もぶどう 園も 擔保にして 金を 借りなければならない．
  5. 同胞もわたしたちも 同じ 人間だ． 彼らに 子供があれば， わたしたちにも 子供がある． だが， わたしたちは 息子や 娘を 手放して 奴隷にしなければならない． ある 娘はもう 奴隷になっている． どうすることもできない． 畑とぶどう 園はもう 他人のものだ． 」
  1. When I heard their outcry and these charges, I was very angry.
  2. I pondered them in my mind and then accused the nobles and officials. I told them, "You are exacting usury from your own countrymen!" So I called together a large meeting to deal with them
  3. and said: "As far as possible, we have bought back our Jewish brothers who were sold to the Gentiles. Now you are selling your brothers, only for them to be sold back to us!" They kept quiet, because they could find nothing to say.
  4. So I continued, "What you are doing is not right. Shouldn't you walk in the fear of our God to avoid the reproach of our Gentile enemies?
  5. I and my brothers and my men are also lending the people money and grain. But let the exacting of usury stop!
  1. この 嘆きと 訴えを 聞いて， わたしは 大いに 憤りを 覺え，
  2. 居たたまれなくなって 貴族と 役人をこう 非難した． 「あなたたちは 同胞に 重荷を 負わせているではないか． 」わたしはまた 大きな 集會を 召集して，
  3. 言った． 「わたしたちは 異邦人に 賣られていた 同胞の ユダ の 人¿を， できるかぎり 買い 戾した． それなのに， あなたたちはその 同胞を 賣ろうというのか． 彼らはわたしたち 自身に 賣られることになるのに． 」彼らは 默りこみ， 何も 言えなかった．
  4. わたしは 言った． 「あなたたちの 行いはよくない． 敵である 異邦人に 辱められないために， 神を 畏れて 生きるはずではないのか．
  5. わたしも， わたしの 兄弟も 部下も 金や 穀物を 貸している． わたしたちはその 負債を 帳消しにする．
  1. Give back to them immediately their fields, vineyards, olive groves and houses, and also the usury you are charging them--the hundredth part of the money, grain, new wine and oil."
  2. "We will give it back," they said. "And we will not demand anything more from them. We will do as you say." Then I summoned the priests and made the nobles and officials take an oath to do what they had promised.
  3. I also shook out the folds of my robe and said, "In this way may God shake out of his house and possessions every man who does not keep this promise. So may such a man be shaken out and emptied!" At this the whole assembly said, "Amen," and praised the LORD. And the people did as they had promised.
  4. Moreover, from the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, until his thirty-second year--twelve years--neither I nor my brothers ate the food allotted to the governor.
  5. But the earlier governors--those preceding me--placed a heavy burden on the people and took forty shekels of silver from them in addition to food and wine. Their assistants also lorded it over the people. But out of reverence for God I did not act like that.
  1. あなたたちも 今日あなたたちに 負債のある 者に 返しなさい． 畑も， ぶどう 園も， オリ ― ブ 園も， 家も， 利子も， 穀物も， ぶどう 酒も， 油も． 」
  2. 彼らはそれに 答えた． 「返します． 何も 要求しません． お 言葉どおりにします． 」わたしはこの 言葉どおり 行うよう 誓わせるために 祭司たちを 呼んだ．
  3. わたしはまた 衣の 折り 重ねたところを 振るいながら 言った． 「この 約束を 守らない 者はだれでも， このように 神によってその 家と 財産から 離され， 振るい 落とされるように． このように 振るい 落とされて 無一物となるように． 」會衆は 皆で， 「ア ― メン 」と 答え， 神を 贊美した． 民はその 言葉どおり 行った．
  4. アルタクセルクセス 王の 第二十年に， わたしは ユダ の 地の 長官に 任命されたが， その 日から 第三十二年までの 十二年間， わたしも 兄弟たちも 長官の 給與を 一度も 受け 取らなかった．
  5. わたしの 前任者は 民に 重荷を 負わせ， パン とぶどう 酒に 加えて， 銀四十 シェケル を 徵收した． 彼らの 配下の 者も 民を 壓迫した． しかし， わたしは 神を 畏れ， そのようなことを 決して 行わなかった．
  1. Instead, I devoted myself to the work on this wall. All my men were assembled there for the work; we did not acquire any land.
  2. Furthermore, a hundred and fifty Jews and officials ate at my table, as well as those who came to us from the surrounding nations.
  3. Each day one ox, six choice sheep and some poultry were prepared for me, and every ten days an abundant supply of wine of all kinds. In spite of all this, I never demanded the food allotted to the governor, because the demands were heavy on these people.
  4. Remember me with favor, O my God, for all I have done for these people.
  1. わたしはこの 城壁の 工事にも 力を 注ぎ， 土地を 買收したりはしなかった． 配下の 者も 皆， 工事のためにここに 集まっていた．
  2. ユダ の 人¿と 役人合わせて 百五十人， それに 周りの 國¿から 來た 人¿も， わたしの 食卓に 着いた．
  3. 每日用意されたものは， 牛一頭， 特選の 羊六匹， 鳥で， わたしのために 用意され， 十日ごとにはあらゆる 種類のぶどう 酒が 十分用意された． だが， このためにも 長官の 手當を 要求しなかった． 再建作業がこの 民にとって 重荷となっていたからである．
  4. 神よ， わたしがこの 民に 盡くしたすべてのことを 快く 心に 留めてください．
 
  대적들의 음모(6:1-6:19)    
 
  1. When word came to Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab and the rest of our enemies that I had rebuilt the wall and not a gap was left in it--though up to that time I had not set the doors in the gates-
  2. Sanballat and Geshem sent me this message: "Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono." But they were scheming to harm me;
  3. so I sent messengers to them with this reply: "I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you?"
  4. Four times they sent me the same message, and each time I gave them the same answer.
  5. Then, the fifth time, Sanballat sent his aide to me with the same message, and in his hand was an unsealed letter
  1. サンバラト ， トビヤ ， アラブ 人 ゲシェム ， その 他わたしたちの 敵は， わたしが 城壁を 再建し， 崩れた 所が 一つとして 殘らず， あとは 城門に 扉を 付けるだけだということを 耳にした．
  2. サンバラト と ゲシェム はわたしのもとに 使者をよこして， 「オノ の 谷にある ケフィリム で 會おう 」と 言った． 彼らはわたしに 危害を 加えようとたくらんだのであった．
  3. そこでわたしは 使者を 送って 言わせた． 「わたしは 大きな 工事をしているので， 行けません． 中斷して 出かけたのでは， どうして 工事が 終わるでしょうか． 」
  4. 彼らは 同じことを 四度も 言ってきたが， わたしも 同じように 返事を 繰り 返した．
  5. 五度目に サンバラト は， 配下の 者を 同じ 言葉をもってわたしのもとによこしたが， その 手には 開封の 手紙があった．
  1. in which was written: "It is reported among the nations--and Geshem says it is true--that you and the Jews are plotting to revolt, and therefore you are building the wall. Moreover, according to these reports you are about to become their king
  2. and have even appointed prophets to make this proclamation about you in Jerusalem: 'There is a king in Judah!' Now this report will get back to the king; so come, let us confer together."
  3. I sent him this reply: "Nothing like what you are saying is happening; you are just making it up out of your head."
  4. They were all trying to frighten us, thinking, "Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed." But I prayed, "Now strengthen my hands."
  5. One day I went to the house of Shemaiah son of Delaiah, the son of Mehetabel, who was shut in at his home. He said, "Let us meet in the house of God, inside the temple, and let us close the temple doors, because men are coming to kill you--by night they are coming to kill you."
  1. そこには， こう 書かれていた． 「あなたと ユダ の 人¿は 反逆を 企てていると， 諸國のうわさにもなっているし， ガシュム も 言っている． 城壁を 建てているのはそのためであろう． あなたは ユダ の 人¿の 王になろうとしているということだ．
  2. また， あなたはあなたのことを 宣言する 預言者を エルサレム に 立てて， ユダ の 王だと 言わせているそうだ． 今このうわさは， 王のもとに 屆こうとしている． 早速相談しようではないか． 」
  3. そこでわたしは 返事を 送った． 「あなたの 言うことは 事實に 反する． あなたの 勝手な 作り 事だ． 」
  4. 彼らは 皆， わたしたちの 手が 弱り， 工事は 完成しないだろうと 言って， わたしたちに 恐怖を 與えている． 神よ， 今こそわたしの 手を 强くしてください．
  5. わたしが， メヘタブエル の 孫で デラヤ の 子である シェマヤ の 家に 行くと， 彼は 閉じこもっていた． 彼は 言った． 「神殿で 會おう， 聖所の 中で． 聖所の 扉を 閉じよう． あなたを 殺しに 來る 者がある． 夜， あなたを 殺しにやって 來る． 」
  1. But I said, "Should a man like me run away? Or should one like me go into the temple to save his life? I will not go!"
  2. I realized that God had not sent him, but that he had prophesied against me because Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.
  3. He had been hired to intimidate me so that I would commit a sin by doing this, and then they would give me a bad name to discredit me.
  4. Remember Tobiah and Sanballat, O my God, because of what they have done; remember also the prophetess Noadiah and the rest of the prophets who have been trying to intimidate me.
  5. So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of Elul, in fifty-two days.
  1. しかし， わたしは 言った． 「わたしの 立場にある 者は 逃げることはできない． わたしのような 者で， 聖所に 入って， なお 生き 長らえることのできる 者があろうか． わたしは 入らない． 」
  2. 彼は 神が 遣わした 者ではなく， トビヤ と サンバラト に 買收されてわたしに 預言したのだということをわたしは 悟った．
  3. なぜ 彼を 買收したのか． それはわたしが 恐怖心から 彼らの 言いなりになって 罪を 犯せば， 彼らはそれを 利用してわたしの 惡口を 言い， わたしを 辱めることができるからである．
  4. わが 神よ， トビヤ と サンバラト のこの 仕業と， わたしを 脅迫した 女預言者 ノアドヤ や 他の 預言者たちを 覺えていてください．
  5. 城壁は 五十二日かかって， エルル の 月の 二十五日に 完成した．
  1. When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God.
  2. Also, in those days the nobles of Judah were sending many letters to Tobiah, and replies from Tobiah kept coming to them.
  3. For many in Judah were under oath to him, since he was son-in-law to Shecaniah son of Arah, and his son Jehohanan had married the daughter of Meshullam son of Berekiah.
  4. Moreover, they kept reporting to me his good deeds and then telling him what I said. And Tobiah sent letters to intimidate me.
  1. わたしたちのすべての 敵がそれを 聞くに 及んで， わたしたちの 周圍にいる 諸國の 民も 皆， 恐れを 抱き， 自らの 目に 大いに 面目を 失った． わたしたちの 神の 助けによってこの 工事がなされたのだということを 悟ったからである．
  2. そのころ， ユダ の 貴族は 頻繁に トビヤ に 手紙を 送り， トビヤ の 手紙も 彼らに 屆いていた．
  3. ユダ の 多くの 人は 彼と 互いに 誓約を 交わす 關係にあったからで， トビヤ は アラ の 子 シェカンヤ の 娘¿であり， トビヤ の 子 ヨハナン は ベレクヤ の 子 メシュラム の 娘をめとっていた．
  4. 彼らはわたしの 前では トビヤ への 贊辭を 述べ， トビヤ にはわたしの 言葉を 密告した． トビヤ はわたしに 脅迫の 手紙をよこした．
