마태복음 13:44-14:12

 예수님께서는 감추인 보화와 진주와 그물의 비유를 통해 천국을 가르치셨다. 그 후 고향 나사렛에 가셨으나 나사렛 사람들은 예수님을 배척했다. 한편 세례 요한은 헤롯의 경솔한 맹세와 헤로디아의 간계에 의해 순교당했다.
  
  나사렛 사람들의 배척(13:44-13:58)    
 
  1. "하늘 나라는, 밭에 숨겨 놓은 보물과 같다. 어떤 사람이 그것을 발견하면, 제자리에 숨겨 두고, 기뻐하며 집에 돌아가서는, 가진 것을 다 팔아서 그 밭을 산다."
  2. "또 하늘 나라는, 좋은 진주를 구하는 상인과 같다.
  3. 그가 값진 진주 하나를 발견하면, 가서, 가진 것을 다 팔아서 그것을 산다."
  4. "또 하늘 나라는, 바다에 그물을 던져서 온갖 고기를 잡아 올리는 것과 같다.
  5. 그물이 가득 차면, 해변에 끌어올려 놓고 앉아서, 좋은 것들은 그릇에 담고, 나쁜 것들은 내버린다.
  1. "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
  2. "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls.
  3. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.
  4. "Once again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let down into the lake and caught all kinds of fish.
  5. When it was full, the fishermen pulled it up on the shore. Then they sat down and collected the good fish in baskets, but threw the bad away.
  1. 세상 끝 날에도 이렇게 할 것이다. 천사들이 와서, 의인들 사이에서 악한 자들을 가려내서,
  2. 그들을 불 아궁이에 쳐 넣을 것이니, 그들은 거기서 울며 이를 갈 것이다."
  3. 예수께서 제자들에게 "너희가 이것들을 모두 깨달았느냐?" 하고 물으시니, 그들이 "예" 하고 대답하였다.
  4. 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "그러므로, 하늘 나라를 위하여 훈련을 받은 율법학자는 누구나, 자기 곳간에서 새 것과 낡은 것을 꺼내는 집주인과 같다."
  5. 예수께서 이 비유들을 말씀하신 뒤에, 그 곳을 떠나셨다.
  1. This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous
  2. and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
  3. "Have you understood all these things?" Jesus asked. "Yes," they replied.
  4. He said to them, "Therefore every teacher of the law who has been instructed about the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old."
  5. When Jesus had finished these parables, he moved on from there.
  1. 예수께서 자기 고향에 가셔서, 회당에서 사람들을 가르치셨다. 사람들은 놀라서 말하였다. "이 사람이 어디에서 이런 지혜와 그 놀라운 능력을 얻었을까?
  2. 이 사람은 목수의 아들이 아닌가? 그의 어머니는 마리아라고 하는 분이 아닌가? 그의 아우들은 야고보와 요셉과 시몬과 유다가 아닌가?
  3. 또 그의 누이들은 모두 우리와 같이 살고 있지 않은가? 그런데 이 사람이 이 모든 것을 어디에서 얻었을까?"
  4. 그래서 그들은 예수를 달갑지 않게 여겼다. 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "예언자는 자기 고향과 자기 집 밖에서는 존경을 받지 않는 법이 없다."
  5. 예수께서는 그들의 믿지 않음 때문에, 거기서는 기적을 많이 행하지 않으셨다.
  1. Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. "Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?" they asked.
  2. "Isn't this the carpenter's son? Isn't his mother's name Mary, and aren't his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?
  3. Aren't all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?"
  4. And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, "Only in his hometown and in his own house is a prophet without honor."
  5. And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.
 
  세례 요한의 죽음(14:1-14:12)    
 
  1. 그 무렵에 분봉 왕 헤롯이 예수의 소문을 듣고서, 자기 신하들에게 말하였다.
  2. "이 사람은 세례자 요한이다. 그가 죽은 사람들 가운데서 살아났다. 그 때문에 그가 이런 놀라운 능력을 발휘하는 것이다."
  3. 헤롯은 일찍이, 자기 동생 빌립의 아내 헤로디아의 일 때문에 요한을 붙잡아다가 묶어서, 감옥에 가둔 일이 있었다.
  4. 그것은, 요한이 헤롯에게 "그 여자를 차지하는 것은 옳지 않습니다" 하고 여러 차례 말하였기 때문이다.
  5. 그래서 헤롯은 요한을 죽이려고 하였으나, 민중이 두려워서 그렇게 하지 못하였다. 그것은, 그들이 요한을 예언자로 여기고 있었기 때문이다.
  1. At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the reports about Jesus,
  2. and he said to his attendants, "This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead! That is why miraculous powers are at work in him."
  3. Now Herod had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife,
  4. for John had been saying to him: "It is not lawful for you to have her."
  5. Herod wanted to kill John, but he was afraid of the people, because they considered him a prophet.
  1. 그런데 마침, 헤롯의 생일에 헤로디아의 딸이 손님들 앞에서 춤을 추어서, 헤롯을 즐겁게 해주었다.
  2. 그리하여 헤롯은 그 소녀에게, 청하는 것은 무엇이든지 주겠다고, 맹세로써 약속하였다.
  3. 소녀는 자기 어머니가 시키는 대로 말하였다. "세례자 요한의 머리를 쟁반에 담아서 이리로 가져다 주십시오."
  4. 왕은 마음이 괴로웠지만, 이미 맹세를 하였고, 또 손님들이 보고 있는 앞이므로, 그렇게 해 주라는 명령을 내리게 되었다.
  5. 그래서 그는 사람을 보내서, 감옥에서 요한의 목을 베게 하였다.
  1. On Herod's birthday the daughter of Herodias danced for them and pleased Herod so much
  2. that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked.
  3. Prompted by her mother, she said, "Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist."
  4. The king was distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he ordered that her request be granted
  5. and had John beheaded in the prison.
  1. 그 머리를 쟁반에 담아서 가져다가 소녀에게 주니, 소녀는 그것을 자기 어머니에게 가져갔다.
  2. 요한의 제자들이 와서, 그 시체를 거두어다가 장사 지내고 나서, 예수께 가서 알려드렸다.
  1. His head was brought in on a platter and given to the girl, who carried it to her mother.
  2. John's disciples came and took his body and buried it. Then they went and told Jesus.
