- 그런데 한 사람이 예수께 다가와서 물었다. "선생님, 내가 영원한 생명을 얻으려면, 무슨 선한 일을 해야 합니까?"
- 예수께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. "어찌하여 너는 나에게 선한 일을 묻느냐. 선한 분은 한 분이다. 네가 생명에 들어가기를 원하면, 계명들을 지켜라."
- 그가 예수께 물었다. "어느 계명들을 지켜야 합니까?" 예수께서 대답하셨다. "살인하지 말아라. 간음하지 말아라. 도둑질하지 말아라. 거짓 증언을 하지 말아라.
- 아버지와 어머니를 공경하여라. 그리고, 네 이웃을 네 몸과 같이 사랑하여라."
- 그 젊은이가 예수께 말하였다. "나는 이 모든 것을 다 지켰습니다. 아직도 무엇이 부족합니까?"

- Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?"
- "Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments."
- "Which ones?" the man inquired. Jesus replied, " 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony,
- honor your father and mother,' and 'love your neighbor as yourself.'"
- "All these I have kept," the young man said. "What do I still lack?"

- 예수께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. "네가 완전한 사람이 되려고 하면, 가서 네 소유를 팔아서, 가난한 사람에게 주어라. 그리하면, 네가 하늘에서 보화를 차지하게 될 것이다. 그리고, 와서 나를 따라라."
- 그러나 그 젊은이는 이 말씀을 듣고, 근심을 하면서 떠나갔다. 그에게는 재산이 많았기 때문이다.
- 예수께서 제자들에게 말씀하셨다. "내가 진정으로 너희에게 말한다. 부자는 하늘나라에 들어가기가 어렵다.
- 내가 다시 너희에게 말한다. 부자가 하나님 나라에 들어가는 것보다 낙타가 바늘귀로 지나가는 것이 더 쉽다."
- 제자들이 이 말씀을 듣고, 깜짝 놀라서, 말하였다. "그러면, 누가 구원을 얻을 수 있습니까?"

- Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
- When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.
- Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
- Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
- When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, "Who then can be saved?"

- 예수께서 그들을 눈여겨보시고, 말씀하셨다. "사람은 이 일을 할 수 없으나, 하나님은 무슨 일이나 다 하실 수 있다."

- Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
