열왕기상 2:1-2:46

 다윗이 솔로몬에게 마지막 유언을 남기고 임종하므로써 본격적인 솔로몬 시대가 개막되었다. 솔로몬은 신정 왕국을 확립해 가는 데 걸림이 되는 자들을 차례로 제거해 가며 왕권을 공고히 해 나갔다.
  
  다윗의 죽음(2:1-2:12)    
 
  1. 다윗은 세상을 떠날 날이 가까워서, 아들 솔로몬에게 유언을 하였다.
  2. "나는 이제 세상 모든 사람이 가는 길로 간다. 너는 굳세고 장부다워야 한다.
  3. 그리고 너는 주 너의 하나님의 명령을 지키고, 모세의 율법에 기록된 대로, 주님께서 지시하시는 길을 걷고, 주님의 법률과 계명, 주님의 율례와 증거의 말씀을 지켜라. 그리하면, 네가 무엇을 하든지, 어디를 가든지, 모든 일이 형통할 것이다.
  4. 또한 주님께서 전에 나에게 '네 자손이 내 앞에서 마음과 정성을 다 기울여서, 제 길을 성실하게 걸으면, 이스라엘의 임금 자리에 오를 사람이 너에게서 끊어지지 않을 것이다' 하고 약속하신 말씀을 이루실 것이다.
  5. 더욱이 너는 스루야의 아들 요압이 나에게 한 것, 곧 그가 이스라엘 군대의 두 사령관인, 넬의 아들 아브넬과 예델의 아들 아마사에게 한 일을 알고 있을 것이다. 요압이 그들을 살해함으로써, 평화로운 때에 전쟁을 할 때나 흘릴 피를 흘려서, 내 허리띠와 신에 전쟁의 피를 묻히고 말았다.
  1. When the time drew near for David to die, he gave a charge to Solomon his son.
  2. "I am about to go the way of all the earth," he said. "So be strong, show yourself a man,
  3. and observe what the LORD your God requires: Walk in his ways, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and requirements, as written in the Law of Moses, so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go,
  4. and that the LORD may keep his promise to me: 'If your descendants watch how they live, and if they walk faithfully before me with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.'
  5. "Now you yourself know what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me--what he did to the two commanders of Israel's armies, Abner son of Ner and Amasa son of Jether. He killed them, shedding their blood in peacetime as if in battle, and with that blood stained the belt around his waist and the sandals on his feet.
  1. 그러므로 너는 지혜롭게 행동을 하여, 그가 백발이 성성하게 살다가 평안히 스올에 내려가도록 내버려 두지 말아라.
  2. 그러나 길르앗 사람인 바르실래의 아들들에게는 자비를 베풀어서, 네 상에서 함께 먹는 식구가 되게 하여라. 그들은 내가 네 형 압살롬을 피하여 도망할 때에 나를 영접해 주었다.
  3. 또 바후림 출신으로 베냐민 사람인 게라의 아들 시므이가 너와 같이 있다. 그는, 내가 마하나임으로 가던 날에 나를 심하게 저주하였지만, 그가 요단 강으로 나를 맞으려고 내려왔을 때에 내가 주님을 가리켜 맹세하기를, '너를 칼로 죽이지 않겠다' 하고 말한 일이 있다.
  4. 그러나 너는 그에게 죄가 없다고 여기지 말아라. 너는 지혜로운 사람이니, 그를 어떻게 처리해야 하는지 잘 알 것이다. 너는 그의 백발에 피를 묻혀 스올로 내려가게 해야 한다."
  5. 다윗은 죽어서, 그의 조상과 함께 '다윗 성'에 안장되었다.
  1. Deal with him according to your wisdom, but do not let his gray head go down to the grave in peace.
  2. "But show kindness to the sons of Barzillai of Gilead and let them be among those who eat at your table. They stood by me when I fled from your brother Absalom.
  3. "And remember, you have with you Shimei son of Gera, the Benjamite from Bahurim, who called down bitter curses on me the day I went to Mahanaim. When he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the LORD : 'I will not put you to death by the sword.'
  4. But now, do not consider him innocent. You are a man of wisdom; you will know what to do to him. Bring his gray head down to the grave in blood."
  5. Then David rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David.
  1. 다윗 왕이 이스라엘을 다스린 기간은 마흔 해이다. 헤브론에서 일곱 해를 다스리고, 예루살렘에서 서른세 해를 다스렸다.
  2. 솔로몬은 그의 아버지 다윗이 앉았던 자리에 앉아서, 그 왕국을 아주 튼튼하게 세웠다.
  1. He had reigned forty years over Israel--seven years in Hebron and thirty-three in Jerusalem.
  2. So Solomon sat on the throne of his father David, and his rule was firmly established.
 
  솔로몬의 왕권 강화(2:13-2:46)    
 
  1. 학깃의 아들 아도니야가 솔로몬의 어머니 밧세바를 찾아왔다. 밧세바가 "좋은 일로 왔느냐?" 하고 물으니, 그는 "좋은 일로 왔습니다" 하고 대답하였다.
  2. 그러면서 그가 말하였다. "드릴 말씀이 있습니다." 밧세바가 대답하였다. "말하여라."
  3. 그러자 그가 말하였다. "어머니께서도 아시다시피, 임금 자리는 저의 것이었고, 모든 이스라엘 사람은, 제가 임금이 되기를 바라고 있었습니다. 그런데 그 임금 자리는, 주님의 뜻이 있어서, 이제는 아우의 것이 되었습니다.
  4. 이제 어머니께 한 가지 청할 것이 있습니다. 거절하지 말아 주시기 바랍니다." 밧세바가 그에게, 말하라고 하였다.
  5. 아도니야가 말하였다. "임금이 어머니의 청을 거절하지는 않을 것입니다. 그러니 솔로몬 임금에게 말씀하셔서, 수넴 여자 아비삭을 나의 아내로 삼게 해주십시오."
  1. Now Adonijah, the son of Haggith, went to Bathsheba, Solomon's mother. Bathsheba asked him, "Do you come peacefully?" He answered, "Yes, peacefully."
  2. Then he added, "I have something to say to you." "You may say it," she replied.
  3. "As you know," he said, "the kingdom was mine. All Israel looked to me as their king. But things changed, and the kingdom has gone to my brother; for it has come to him from the LORD.
  4. Now I have one request to make of you. Do not refuse me." "You may make it," she said.
  5. So he continued, "Please ask King Solomon--he will not refuse you--to give me Abishag the Shunammite as my wife."
  1. 밧세바가 말하였다. "좋다. 내가 너를 대신하여, 임금께 말하여 주마."
  2. 그리하여 밧세바는 아도니야의 청을 대신 말하여 주려고, 솔로몬 왕을 찾아갔다. 왕은 어머니를 맞이하려고, 일어나서 절을 한 뒤에 다시 자리에 앉았다. 그리고는 어머니에게 자리를 권하여, 자기 옆에 앉게 하였다.
  3. 그러자 밧세바가 말하였다. "나에게 한 가지 작은 소원이 있는데, 거절하지 않으면 좋겠소." 왕이 대답하였다. "어머니, 말씀하여 보십시오. 거절하지 않겠습니다."
  4. 밧세바가 말하였다. "수넴 여자 아비삭과 임금의 형 아도니야를 결혼시키면 좋겠소."
  5. 그러자 솔로몬 왕이 어머니에게 대답하였다. "아도니야를 생각하신다면, 어찌하여 수넴 여자 아비삭과 결혼시키라고만 하십니까? 그는 나의 형이니, 차라리 그에게 임금의 자리까지 내주라고 하시지 그러십니까? 또 아도니야만을 생각하여서 청하실 것이 아니라, 그를 편든 아비아달 제사장과 스루야의 아들 요압을 생각하여서도 그렇게 하시지 그러십니까?"
  1. "Very well," Bathsheba replied, "I will speak to the king for you."
  2. When Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah, the king stood up to meet her, bowed down to her and sat down on his throne. He had a throne brought for the king's mother, and she sat down at his right hand.
  3. "I have one small request to make of you," she said. "Do not refuse me." The king replied, "Make it, my mother; I will not refuse you."
  4. So she said, "Let Abishag the Shunammite be given in marriage to your brother Adonijah."
  5. King Solomon answered his mother, "Why do you request Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? You might as well request the kingdom for him--after all, he is my older brother--yes, for him and for Abiathar the priest and Joab son of Zeruiah!"
  1. 솔로몬 왕은 주님을 가리켜 맹세하였다. "아도니야가 자기 목숨을 걸고 이런 말을 하였으니, 그의 목숨을 살려 두면, 하나님이 나에게 벌을 내리시고, 또 내리실지도 모릅니다.
  2. 이제 주님께서 나를 세워 아버지 다윗의 자리에 앉게 하시고, 말씀하신 대로 나를 시켜서 왕실을 세워 주셨으니, 주님의 살아 계심을 두고 맹세합니다. 오늘 아도니야는 반드시 처형당할 것입니다."
  3. 솔로몬 왕이 여호야다의 아들 브나야를 보내니, 그가 아도니야를 쳐죽였다.
  4. 솔로몬 왕은 아비아달 제사장에게 이렇게 말하였다. "제사장께서는 상속받은 땅 아나돗으로 가시오. 제사장께서는 이미 죽었어야 할 목숨이지만, 나의 아버지 다윗 앞에서 제사장으로서 주 하나님의 법궤를 메었고, 또 나의 아버지께서 고통을 받으실 때에 그 모든 고통을 함께 나누었기 때문에, 오늘은 내가 제사장을 죽이지는 않겠소."
  5. 솔로몬은 아비아달을 주님의 제사장 직에서 파면하여 내쫓았다. 이렇게 하여서, 주님께서는 실로에 있는 엘리의 가문을 두고 하신 말씀을 이루셨다.
  1. Then King Solomon swore by the LORD : "May God deal with me, be it ever so severely, if Adonijah does not pay with his life for this request!
  2. And now, as surely as the LORD lives--he who has established me securely on the throne of my father David and has founded a dynasty for me as he promised--Adonijah shall be put to death today!"
  3. So King Solomon gave orders to Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he struck down Adonijah and he died.
  4. To Abiathar the priest the king said, "Go back to your fields in Anathoth. You deserve to die, but I will not put you to death now, because you carried the ark of the Sovereign LORD before my father David and shared all my father's hardships."
  5. So Solomon removed Abiathar from the priesthood of the LORD, fulfilling the word the LORD had spoken at Shiloh about the house of Eli.
  1. 이런 소문이 요압에게 들렸다. 비록 그는 압살롬의 편을 들지는 않았으나, 아도니야의 편을 들었으므로, 주님의 장막으로 도망하여, 제단 뿔을 잡았다.
  2. 요압이 이렇게 주님의 장막으로 도망하여 제단 곁에 피하여 있다는 사실이, 솔로몬 왕에게 전해지니, 솔로몬은 여호야다의 아들 브나야를 보내면서 "가서, 그를 쳐죽여라!" 하였다.
  3. 브나야가 주님의 장막에 들어가서, 그에게 말하였다. "어명이오. 바깥으로 나오시오." 그러자 그가 말하였다. "못 나가겠소. 차라리 나는 여기에서 죽겠소." 브나야가 왕에게 돌아가서, 요압이 한 말을 전하니,
  4. 왕이 그에게 말하였다. "그가 말한 대로, 그를 쳐서 죽인 뒤에 묻어라. 그리하면 요압이 흘린 죄 없는 사람의 피를, 나와 나의 가문에서 지울 수 있을 것이다.
  5. 주님께서, 요압이 흘린 그 피를 그에게 돌리실 것이다. 그는 나의 아버지 다윗께서 모르시는 사이에, 자기보다 더 의롭고 나은 두 사람, 곧 넬의 아들인 이스라엘 군사령관 아브넬과, 예델의 아들인 유다의 군사령관 아마사를, 칼로 죽인 사람이다.
  1. When the news reached Joab, who had conspired with Adonijah though not with Absalom, he fled to the tent of the LORD and took hold of the horns of the altar.
  2. King Solomon was told that Joab had fled to the tent of the LORD and was beside the altar. Then Solomon ordered Benaiah son of Jehoiada, "Go, strike him down!"
  3. So Benaiah entered the tent of the LORD and said to Joab, "The king says, 'Come out!' " But he answered, "No, I will die here." Benaiah reported to the king, "This is how Joab answered me."
  4. Then the king commanded Benaiah, "Do as he says. Strike him down and bury him, and so clear me and my father's house of the guilt of the innocent blood that Joab shed.
  5. The LORD will repay him for the blood he shed, because without the knowledge of my father David he attacked two men and killed them with the sword. Both of them--Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel's army, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah's army--were better men and more upright than he.
  1. 그들의 피는 영원히 요압과 그의 자손에게로 돌아갈 것이며, 다윗과 그의 자손과 그의 왕실과 그의 왕좌에는, 주님께서 주시는 평화가 영원토록 있을 것이다."
  2. 이에 여호야다의 아들 브나야가 올라가서, 그를 쳐죽였다. 요압은 광야에 있는 그의 땅에 매장되었다.
  3. 왕은 요압 대신에 여호야다의 아들 브나야를 군사령관으로 삼고, 아비아달의 자리에는 사독 제사장을 임명하였다.
  4. 그 뒤에 왕은 사람을 보내어서, 시므이를 불러다 놓고, 이렇게 말하였다. "당신은 예루살렘에다가 당신이 살 집을 짓고, 거기에서만 살도록 하시오. 다른 어느 곳으로든지, 한 발짝도 나가서는 안 되오.
  5. 바깥으로 나가서 기드론 시내를 건너는 날에는, 당신은 반드시 죽을 것이오. 당신이 죽는 것은 바로 당신 죄 때문임을 명심하시오."
  1. May the guilt of their blood rest on the head of Joab and his descendants forever. But on David and his descendants, his house and his throne, may there be the LORD's peace forever."
  2. So Benaiah son of Jehoiada went up and struck down Joab and killed him, and he was buried on his own land in the desert.
  3. The king put Benaiah son of Jehoiada over the army in Joab's position and replaced Abiathar with Zadok the priest.
  4. Then the king sent for Shimei and said to him, "Build yourself a house in Jerusalem and live there, but do not go anywhere else.
  5. The day you leave and cross the Kidron Valley, you can be sure you will die; your blood will be on your own head."
  1. 그러자 시므이는 "임금님께서 하신 말씀은 지당하신 말씀입니다. 임금님의 종은 그대로 이행할 따름입니다" 하고 대답하고, 오랫동안 예루살렘을 떠나지 않고, 거기에서 지냈다.
  2. 그로부터 거의 세 해가 지났을 무렵에, 시므이의 종들 가운데서 두 사람이 가드 왕 마아가의 아들 아기스에게로 도망하였다. 어떤 사람들이 시므이에게, 그 종들이 가드에 있다고 알려 주었다.
  3. 그래서 시므이는 나귀에 안장을 얹고, 자기의 종들을 찾아 오려고 가드에 있는 아기스에게로 갔다. 시므이가 직접 내려가, 가드에서 자기 종들을 데리고 왔다.
  4. 시므이가 이와 같이, 예루살렘에서 가드로 내려갔다가 돌아왔다는 소식이 솔로몬에게 전해지니,
  5. 왕은 사람을 보내어서, 시므이를 불러다 놓고 문책하였다. "내가 당신에게, 주님을 가리켜 맹세하게 하고, 당신에게 경고하기를, 당신이 바깥으로 나가서 어느 곳이든지 가는 날에는, 반드시 죽을 것이라고 하지 않았소? 당신도 나에게 좋다고 하였고, 내 말에 순종하겠다고 하지 않았소?
  1. Shimei answered the king, "What you say is good. Your servant will do as my lord the king has said." And Shimei stayed in Jerusalem for a long time.
  2. But three years later, two of Shimei's slaves ran off to Achish son of Maacah, king of Gath, and Shimei was told, "Your slaves are in Gath."
  3. At this, he saddled his donkey and went to Achish at Gath in search of his slaves. So Shimei went away and brought the slaves back from Gath.
  4. When Solomon was told that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath and had returned,
  5. the king summoned Shimei and said to him, "Did I not make you swear by the LORD and warn you, 'On the day you leave to go anywhere else, you can be sure you will die'? At that time you said to me, 'What you say is good. I will obey.'
  1. 그런데 어찌하여, 주님께 맹세한 것과, 내가 당신에게 명령한 것을, 당신은 지키지 않았소?"
  2. 왕은 계속하여 시므이에게 말하였다. "당신은, 당신이 나의 아버지 다윗 왕에게 저지른 그 모든 일을, 스스로 잘 알고 있을 것이오. 그러므로 주님께서 당신이 저지른 일을 당신에게 갚으실 것이오.
  3. 그러나 나 솔로몬 왕은 복을 받고, 다윗의 보좌는 주님 앞에서 영원토록 견고하게 서 있을 것이오."
  4. 왕이 여호야다의 아들 브나야에게 명령하니, 그가 바깥으로 나가서, 시므이를 쳐죽였다. 솔로몬은 권력을 완전히 장악하였다.
  1. Why then did you not keep your oath to the LORD and obey the command I gave you?"
  2. The king also said to Shimei, "You know in your heart all the wrong you did to my father David. Now the LORD will repay you for your wrongdoing.
  3. But King Solomon will be blessed, and David's throne will remain secure before the LORD forever."
  4. Then the king gave the order to Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he went out and struck Shimei down and killed him. The kingdom was now firmly established in Solomon's hands.
