열왕기상 16:1-17:24

 죄악을 답습하던 바아사는 하나님의 심판을 받았다. 이어 엘라로부터 아합에 이르는 북이스라엘의 왕들도 하나님 앞에 악을 행하여 하나님의 징계를 받았다. 선지자 엘리야는 바알을 숭배하고 악정을 행하던 아합에게 하나님의 재앙으로 가뭄이 있을 것을 선포했다. 아합의 위협을 피해 사르밧으로 피신한 엘리야는 자신을 공궤하던 한 과부의 아들을 살리는 이적을 행하였다.
  
  엘라, 시므리, 오므리, 아합의 통치(16:1-16:34)    
 
  1. 주님의 말씀이 하나니의 아들 예후에게 내려서, 바아사를 두고 이렇게 말씀하셨다.
  2. "나는 너를 먼지 속에서 이끌어 내어서, 내 백성 이스라엘의 통치자로 삼았다. 그런데 너는 여로보암과 같은 길을 걸어서, 내 백성 이스라엘로 하여금 죄를 짓게 하고, 그 죄 때문에 내 분노를 사는구나.
  3. 내가 바아사와 그의 가문을 쓸어 버리겠다. 그리하여 네 가문을 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 가문처럼 만들겠다.
  4. 바아사에게 속한 사람으로서, 성 안에서 죽는 사람은 개들이 먹어 치울 것이고, 성 바깥의 들에서 죽는 사람은 하늘의 새들이 쪼아 먹을 것이다."
  5. 바아사의 나머지 행적과 그가 한 것과 그의 권세, 이 모든 것은 '이스라엘 왕 역대지략'에 다 기록되어 있다.
  1. Then the word of the LORD came to Jehu son of Hanani against Baasha:
  2. "I lifted you up from the dust and made you leader of my people Israel, but you walked in the ways of Jeroboam and caused my people Israel to sin and to provoke me to anger by their sins.
  3. So I am about to consume Baasha and his house, and I will make your house like that of Jeroboam son of Nebat.
  4. Dogs will eat those belonging to Baasha who die in the city, and the birds of the air will feed on those who die in the country."
  5. As for the other events of Baasha's reign, what he did and his achievements, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?
  1. 바아사가 조상들과 함께 잠들어서, 디르사에 묻혔다. 아들 엘라가 그의 뒤를 이어 왕이 되었다.
  2. 주님께서 예언자 하나니의 아들 예후를 시키셔서, 바아사와 그의 가문에게 말씀하셨다. 바아사가 여로보암의 가문처럼 주님께서 보시기에 악한 일을 하므로, 주님의 노를 격동하였을 뿐만 아니라, 여로보암의 가문을 치기까지 했기 때문이다.
  3. 유다의 아사 왕 제 이십육년에, 바아사의 아들 엘라가 이스라엘의 왕이 되어서, 디르사에서 두 해 동안 다스렸다.

  1. Baasha rested with his fathers and was buried in Tirzah. And Elah his son succeeded him as king.
  2. Moreover, the word of the LORD came through the prophet Jehu son of Hanani to Baasha and his house, because of all the evil he had done in the eyes of the LORD, provoking him to anger by the things he did, and becoming like the house of Jeroboam--and also because he destroyed it.
  3. In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah son of Baasha became king of Israel, and he reigned in Tirzah two years.
  4. Zimri, one of his officials, who had command of half his chariots, plotted against him. Elah was in Tirzah at the time, getting drunk in the home of Arza, the man in charge of the palace at Tirzah.
  5. Zimri came in, struck him down and killed him in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah. Then he succeeded him as king.
  1. 시므리는 왕위에 올라서, 바아사 가문에 딸린 사람은 모두 죽였는데, 바아사 가문의 남자는, 일가 친척이든지 친구이든지, 한 사람도 남겨 두지 않았다.
  2. 시므리는, 주님께서 예후 예언자를 시키셔서 바아사에게 말씀하신 대로, 바아사 가문의 모든 사람을 멸망시켰다.

  1. As soon as he began to reign and was seated on the throne, he killed off Baasha's whole family. He did not spare a single male, whether relative or friend.
  2. So Zimri destroyed the whole family of Baasha, in accordance with the word of the LORD spoken against Baasha through the prophet Jehu-
  3. because of all the sins Baasha and his son Elah had committed and had caused Israel to commit, so that they provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger by their worthless idols.
  4. As for the other events of Elah's reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?
  5. In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, Zimri reigned in Tirzah seven days. The army was encamped near Gibbethon, a Philistine town.
  1. 그러나 진을 치고 있던 군대는, 시므리가 반역하여 왕을 살해하였다는 소식을 듣고서, 바로 그 진에서 그 날로 군사령관인 오므리 장군을 온 이스라엘의 왕으로 세웠다.
  2. 오므리는 온 이스라엘을 이끌고 깁브돈으로부터 올라와서, 디르사를 포위하였다.
  3. 이 때에 시므리는, 그 성읍이 함락될 것을 알고는, 왕궁의 요새로 들어가서, 그 왕궁에 불을 지르고, 그 불길 속으로 들어가서, 자기도 불에 타 죽었다.
  4. 이것은 시므리가, 주님께서 보시기에 악행을 하고, 여로보암의 길을 따라 가서, 이스라엘에게 죄를 짓게 한 그 죄 때문에 생긴 일이다.

  1. When the Israelites in the camp heard that Zimri had plotted against the king and murdered him, they proclaimed Omri, the commander of the army, king over Israel that very day there in the camp.
  2. Then Omri and all the Israelites with him withdrew from Gibbethon and laid siege to Tirzah.
  3. When Zimri saw that the city was taken, he went into the citadel of the royal palace and set the palace on fire around him. So he died,
  4. because of the sins he had committed, doing evil in the eyes of the LORD and walking in the ways of Jeroboam and in the sin he had committed and had caused Israel to commit.
  5. As for the other events of Zimri's reign, and the rebellion he carried out, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?
  1. 그 때에 이스라엘 백성은 둘로 나뉘어, 그 절반은 기낫의 아들 디브니를 따라 가서 그를 왕으로 삼았고, 그 나머지는 오므리를 따랐다.
  2. 그러나 오므리를 따르는 백성이 기낫의 아들 디브니를 따르는 백성보다 강하여서, 디브니는 살해되고, 오므리는 왕이 되었다.
  3. 유다의 아사 왕 제 삼십일년에 오므리는 이스라엘의 왕이 되어서 열두 해 동안 다스렸는데, 여섯 해 동안은 디르사에서 다스렸다.
  4. 그는 세멜에게서 은 두 달란트를 주고, 사마리아 산지를 사들였다. 그리고 그 산에다가 도성을 건설하였는데, 그 산의 소유자인 세멜의 이름을 따라서 그 도성의 이름을 사마리아라고 하였다.

  1. Then the people of Israel were split into two factions; half supported Tibni son of Ginath for king, and the other half supported Omri.
  2. But Omri's followers proved stronger than those of Tibni son of Ginath. So Tibni died and Omri became king.
  3. In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, Omri became king of Israel, and he reigned twelve years, six of them in Tirzah.
  4. He bought the hill of Samaria from Shemer for two talents of silver and built a city on the hill, calling it Samaria, after Shemer, the name of the former owner of the hill.
  5. But Omri did evil in the eyes of the LORD and sinned more than all those before him.
  1. 그는 느밧의 아들 여로보암이 걸은 모든 길을 그대로 따랐다. 오므리는 이스라엘에게 죄를 짓게 하고, 또 우상을 만들어서, 이스라엘의 하나님께서 진노하시게 하였다.
  2. 오므리가 한 나머지 행적과 그가 부린 권세는, '이스라엘 왕 역대지략'에 모두 기록되어 있다.

  1. He walked in all the ways of Jeroboam son of Nebat and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit, so that they provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger by their worthless idols.
  2. As for the other events of Omri's reign, what he did and the things he achieved, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?
  3. Omri rested with his fathers and was buried in Samaria. And Ahab his son succeeded him as king.
  4. In the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, Ahab son of Omri became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria over Israel twenty-two years.
  5. Ahab son of Omri did more evil in the eyes of the LORD than any of those before him.
  1. 그는 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 죄를 따라 가는 정도가 아니라, 오히려 더 앞질렀다. 그는 시돈 왕 엣바알의 딸인 이세벨을 아내로 삼았으며, 더 나아가서 바알을 섬기고 예배하였다.
  2. 또 그는 사마리아에 세운 바알의 신전에다가 바알을 섬기는 제단을 세우고,
  3. 아세라 목상도 만들어 세웠다. 그래서 그는 그 이전의 이스라엘 왕들보다 더 심하게 주 이스라엘의 하나님을 진노하시게 하였다.
  4. 아합 시대에 베델 사람 히엘이 여리고를 건축하였다. 주님께서 눈의 아들 여호수아를 시켜서 하신 주님의 말씀대로, 그는 그 성의 기초를 놓으면서는 그의 맏아들 아비람을 잃었고, 성문을 달면서는 그의 막내 아들 스굽을 잃었다.
  1. He not only considered it trivial to commit the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, but he also married Jezebel daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and began to serve Baal and worship him.
  2. He set up an altar for Baal in the temple of Baal that he built in Samaria.
  3. Ahab also made an Asherah pole and did more to provoke the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger than did all the kings of Israel before him.
  4. In Ahab's time, Hiel of Bethel rebuilt Jericho. He laid its foundations at the cost of his firstborn son Abiram, and he set up its gates at the cost of his youngest son Segub, in accordance with the word of the LORD spoken by Joshua son of Nun.
 
  엘리야의 사역(17:1-17:24)    
 
  1. 길르앗의 디셉에 사는 디셉 사람 엘리야가 아합에게 말하였다. "내가 섬기는 주 이스라엘의 하나님께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세합니다. 내가 다시 입을 열기까지 앞으로 몇 해 동안은, 비는 커녕 이슬 한 방울도 내리지 않을 것입니다."
  2. 주님께서 엘리야에게 말씀하셨다.
  3. "이 곳을 떠나서, 동쪽으로 가거라. 그리고 거기 요단 강 동쪽에 있는 그릿 시냇가에 숨어서 지내며,
  4. 그 시냇물을 마셔라. 내가 까마귀에게 명하여서, 네게 먹을 것을 날라다 주게 하겠다."
  5. 엘리야는 주님의 말씀대로 가서, 그대로 하였다. 그는 곧 가서, 요단 강 앞에 있는 그릿 시냇가에 머물렀다.
  1. Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word."
  2. Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah:
  3. "Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan.
  4. You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there."
  5. So he did what the LORD had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there.
  1. 까마귀들이 아침에도 빵과 고기를 그에게 가져다 주었고, 저녁에도 빵과 고기를 그에게 가져다 주었다. 그리고 물은 그 곳 시냇물을 마셨다.
  2. 그런데 그 땅에 비가 내리지 않으므로, 얼마 있지 않아서, 시냇물까지 말라 버렸다.
  3. 주님께서 엘리야에게 말씀하셨다.
  4. "이제 너는, 시돈에 있는 사르밧으로 가서, 거기에서 지내도록 하여라. 내가 그 곳에 있는 한 과부에게 명하여서, 네게 먹을 것을 주도록 일러두었다."
  5. 엘리야는 곧 일어나서, 사르밧으로 갔다. 그가 성문 안으로 들어설 때에, 마침 한 과부가 땔감을 줍고 있었다. 엘리야가 그 여인을 불러서 말하였다. "마실 물을 한 그릇만 좀 떠다 주십시오."
  1. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.
  2. Some time later the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land.
  3. Then the word of the LORD came to him:
  4. "Go at once to Zarephath of Sidon and stay there. I have commanded a widow in that place to supply you with food."
  5. So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, "Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?"
  1. 그 여인이 물을 가지러 가려고 하니, 엘리야가 다시 여인을 불러서 말하였다. "먹을 것도 조금 가져다 주시면 좋겠습니다."
  2. 그 여인이 말하였다. "어른께서 섬기시는 주 하나님께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세합니다. 저에게는 빵 한 조각도 없습니다. 다만, 뒤주에 밀가루가 한 줌 정도, 그리고 병에 기름이 몇 방울 남아 있을 뿐입니다. 보시다시피, 저는 지금 땔감을 줍고 있습니다. 이것을 가지고 가서, 저와 제 아들이 죽기 전에 마지막으로, 남아 있는 것을 모두 먹으려고 합니다."
  3. 엘리야가 그 여인에게 말하였다. "두려워하지 말고 가서, 방금 말한 대로 하십시오. 그러나 음식을 만들어서, 우선 나에게 먼저 가지고 오십시오. 그 뒤에 그대와, 아들이 먹을 음식을 만들도록 하십시오.
  4. 주님께서 이 땅에 다시 비를 내려 주실 때까지, 그 뒤주의 밀가루가 떨어지지 않을 것이며, 병의 기름이 마르지 않을 것이라고, 주 이스라엘의 하나님께서 말씀하셨습니다."
  5. 그 여인은 가서, 엘리야의 말대로 하였다. 과연 그 여인과 엘리야와 그 여인의 식구가 여러 날 동안 먹었지만,
  1. As she was going to get it, he called, "And bring me, please, a piece of bread."
  2. "As surely as the LORD your God lives," she replied, "I don't have any bread--only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it--and die."
  3. Elijah said to her, "Don't be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small cake of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son.
  4. For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD gives rain on the land.' "
  5. She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family.
  1. 뒤주의 밀가루가 떨어지지 않고, 병의 기름도 마르지 않았다. 주님께서 엘리야를 시켜서 하신 주님의 말씀대로 되었다.
  2. 이런 일이 있은 뒤에, 이 집 여주인의 아들이 병이 들었다. 그의 병은 매우 위중하여서, 끝내는 숨을 거두고 말았다.
  3. 그러자 그 여인은 엘리야에게 이렇게 말하였다. "하나님의 사람이신 어른께서 저와 무슨 상관이 있다고, 이렇게 저에게 오셔서, 저의 죄를 기억나게 하시고, 제 아들을 죽게 하십니까?"
  4. 엘리야가 그 여인에게 아들을 달라고 하면서, 그 여인의 품에서 그 아이를 받아 안고, 자기가 머물고 있는 다락으로 올라갔다. 그리고 그를 자기의 침대 위에 뉘어 놓고,
  5. 주님께 부르짖었다. "주 나의 하나님, 어찌하여 내가 머물고 있는 이 집의 과부에게 이렇게 재앙을 내리시어, 그 아들을 죽게 하십니까?"
  1. For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the LORD spoken by Elijah.
  2. Some time later the son of the woman who owned the house became ill. He grew worse and worse, and finally stopped breathing.
  3. She said to Elijah, "What do you have against me, man of God? Did you come to remind me of my sin and kill my son?"
  4. "Give me your son," Elijah replied. He took him from her arms, carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his bed.
  5. Then he cried out to the LORD, "O LORD my God, have you brought tragedy also upon this widow I am staying with, by causing her son to die?"
  1. 그는 그 아이의 몸 위에 세 번이나 엎드려서, 몸과 몸을 맞춘 다음, 주님께 또 부르짖었다. "주 나의 하나님, 제발 이 아이의 호흡이 되돌아오게 하여 주십시오!"
  2. 주님께서 엘리야가 부르짖는 소리를 들으시고, 그 아이의 호흡을 되돌아오게 하여 주셔서, 그 아이가 살아났다.
  3. 엘리야는, 그 아이를 안고 다락에서 내려와서, 아이를 돌려주면서 말하였다. "보시오, 아들이 살아났습니다."
  4. 그 여인이 엘리야에게 말하였다. "이제야 저는, 어른이 바로 하나님의 사람이시라는 것과, 어른이 하시는 말씀은 참으로 주님의 말씀이라는 것을 알았습니다."
  1. Then he stretched himself out on the boy three times and cried to the LORD, "O LORD my God, let this boy's life return to him!"
  2. The LORD heard Elijah's cry, and the boy's life returned to him, and he lived.
  3. Elijah picked up the child and carried him down from the room into the house. He gave him to his mother and said, "Look, your son is alive!"
  4. Then the woman said to Elijah, "Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is the truth."
