역대하 21:1-23:21

 여호람은 자신의 형제와 방백들을 죽이고 산당을 세워 우상 숭배를 강요하는 등의 악정을 행하였다. 하나님께서는 그를 블레셋과 아라비아를 통해 징계하여 비참한 최후를 맞게 하셨다. 여호람의 아들 아하시야도 악정을 행하다가 예후의 손에 죽었다. 그러자 아달랴가 왕위 찬탈을 위해 다윗 왕가의 진멸을 꾀했는데, 결국은 극적으로 구출된 요아스가 여호야다의 개혁에 의해 왕위에 올랐다.
  
  여호람의 유다 통치(21:1-21:20)    
 
  1. 여호사밧이 세상을 떠나서 그의 조상에게로 가니, '다윗 성'에 있는 왕실 묘지에 장사하였다. 그의 아들 여호람이 그의 뒤를 이어 왕이 되었다.
  2. 여호사밧의 아들 여호람에게는 아우들이 있었다. 그의 아우 아사랴와 여히엘과 스가랴와 아사랴와 미가엘과 스바댜는, 모두 이스라엘의 여호사밧 왕이 낳은 아들이었다.

  1. Then Jehoshaphat rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the City of David. And Jehoram his son succeeded him as king.
  2. Jehoram's brothers, the sons of Jehoshaphat, were Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariahu, Michael and Shephatiah. All these were sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.
  3. Their father had given them many gifts of silver and gold and articles of value, as well as fortified cities in Judah, but he had given the kingdom to Jehoram because he was his firstborn son.
  4. When Jehoram established himself firmly over his father's kingdom, he put all his brothers to the sword along with some of the princes of Israel.
  5. Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years.

  1. He walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for he married a daughter of Ahab. He did evil in the eyes of the LORD.
  2. Nevertheless, because of the covenant the LORD had made with David, the LORD was not willing to destroy the house of David. He had promised to maintain a lamp for him and his descendants forever.
  3. In the time of Jehoram, Edom rebelled against Judah and set up its own king.
  4. So Jehoram went there with his officers and all his chariots. The Edomites surrounded him and his chariot commanders, but he rose up and broke through by night.
  5. To this day Edom has been in rebellion against Judah. Libnah revolted at the same time, because Jehoram had forsaken the LORD, the God of his fathers.

  1. He had also built high places on the hills of Judah and had caused the people of Jerusalem to prostitute themselves and had led Judah astray.
  2. Jehoram received a letter from Elijah the prophet, which said: "This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: 'You have not walked in the ways of your father Jehoshaphat or of Asa king of Judah.
  3. But you have walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and you have led Judah and the people of Jerusalem to prostitute themselves, just as the house of Ahab did. You have also murdered your own brothers, members of your father's house, men who were better than you.
  4. So now the LORD is about to strike your people, your sons, your wives and everything that is yours, with a heavy blow.
  5. You yourself will be very ill with a lingering disease of the bowels, until the disease causes your bowels to come out.' "
  1. 주님께서는 또 블레셋 사람과 에티오피아에 인접하여 사는 아라비아 사람들의 마음을 부추겨, 여호람을 치게 하셨다.
  2. 그들이 유다로 쳐올라 와서 왕궁의 모든 재물을 탈취하였고, 여호람의 아들들과 아내들까지 잡아 갔다. 막내 아들 아하시야 이외에는 아무도 남겨 두지 않았다.
  3. 이런 일이 있은 뒤에, 주님께서 여호람에게 벌을 내리셔서, 그의 창자에 불치의 병이 들게 하셨다.

  1. The LORD aroused against Jehoram the hostility of the Philistines and of the Arabs who lived near the Cushites.
  2. They attacked Judah, invaded it and carried off all the goods found in the king's palace, together with his sons and wives. Not a son was left to him except Ahaziah, the youngest.
  3. After all this, the LORD afflicted Jehoram with an incurable disease of the bowels.
  4. In the course of time, at the end of the second year, his bowels came out because of the disease, and he died in great pain. His people made no fire in his honor, as they had for his fathers.
  5. Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. He passed away, to no one's regret, and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
 
  아하시야의 유다 통치(22:1-22:12)    
 
  1. 예루살렘 사람들이 여호람의 막내 아들 아하시야를 왕으로 삼아, 왕위를 잇게 하였다. 전에 아라비아 사람들과 함께 진영에 쳐들어 왔던 침략군들에게 아하시야의 형들이 다 학살당하였으므로, 여호람의 아들 아하시야가 유다의 왕이 되었다.
  2. 아하시야가 왕이 되었을 때에, 그는, 스물두 살이었다. 그는 예루살렘에서 한 해밖에 다스리지 못하였다. 그의 어머니 아달랴는 오므리의 손녀이다.
  3. 아하시야 역시 아합 가문의 길을 따라 가지 않을 수 없었다. 그의 어머니가 그를 꾀어, 악을 행하게 하였기 때문이다.

  1. The people of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, Jehoram's youngest son, king in his place, since the raiders, who came with the Arabs into the camp, had killed all the older sons. So Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign.
  2. Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother's name was Athaliah, a granddaughter of Omri.
  3. He too walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother encouraged him in doing wrong.
  4. He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, as the house of Ahab had done, for after his father's death they became his advisers, to his undoing.
  5. He also followed their counsel when he went with Joram son of Ahab king of Israel to war against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth Gilead. The Arameans wounded Joram;
  1. 요람은, 시리아의 하사엘 왕과 라마에서 싸울 때에 입은 부상을 치료하려고, 이스르엘로 돌아갔다. 그 때에 아합의 아들 요람이 병이 들었으므로, 유다의 여호람 왕의 아들 아하시야가 문병을 하려고 이스르엘로 내려갔다.
  2. 아하시야는 요람에게 문병을 갔다가 오히려 해를 입게 되었다. 이것은 이미 하나님께서 일을 그렇게 꾸미셨기 때문이다. 아하시야가 병문안을 하러 갔다가, 뜻밖에도 요람과 함께 나가서, 님시의 아들 예후와 맞닥뜨리게 되었다. 예후는 이미 주님께서 아합 왕가를 멸망시키시려고 기름 부어 뽑아 세운 사람이었다.
  3. 예후는 아합 왕가를 징벌하면서, 유다 군대의 지휘관들과, 아하시야를 섬기는 조카들까지, 닥치는 대로 죽였다.

  1. so he returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds they had inflicted on him at Ramoth in his battle with Hazael king of Aram. Then Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to Jezreel to see Joram son of Ahab because he had been wounded.
  2. Through Ahaziah's visit to Joram, God brought about Ahaziah's downfall. When Ahaziah arrived, he went out with Joram to meet Jehu son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab.
  3. While Jehu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab, he found the princes of Judah and the sons of Ahaziah's relatives, who had been attending Ahaziah, and he killed them.
  4. He then went in search of Ahaziah, and his men captured him while he was hiding in Samaria. He was brought to Jehu and put to death. They buried him, for they said, "He was a son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart." So there was no one in the house of Ahaziah powerful enough to retain the kingdom.
  5. When Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she proceeded to destroy the whole royal family of the house of Judah.
  1. 그러나 왕자들이 살해되는 가운데서도, 왕의 딸 여호세바가 아하시야의 아들 요아스를 몰래 빼내어, 유모와 함께 침실에 숨겨서, 아달랴에게서 화를 면하게 하였으므로, 아달랴가 요아스는 죽이지 못하였다. 여호세바는 여호람 왕의 딸이요, 여호야다 제사장의 아내이다. 아하시야에게는 누이가 되는 사람이다.
  2. 요아스는 그들과 함께 여섯 해 동안을 하나님의 성전에 숨어 지냈으며, 그 동안에, 나라는 아달랴가 다스렸다.
  1. But Jehosheba, the daughter of King Jehoram, took Joash son of Ahaziah and stole him away from among the royal princes who were about to be murdered and put him and his nurse in a bedroom. Because Jehosheba, the daughter of King Jehoram and wife of the priest Jehoiada, was Ahaziah's sister, she hid the child from Athaliah so she could not kill him.
  2. He remained hidden with them at the temple of God for six years while Athaliah ruled the land.
 
  제사장 여호야다의 개혁(23:1-23:21)    
 
  1. 여섯 해를 기다린 여호야다 제사장은, 일곱째 해가 되자, 드디어 용기 있게 결단을 내리고, 군대 지휘관들인 백부장들, 곧 여로함의 아들 아사랴와, 여호하난의 아들 이스마엘과, 오벳의 아들 아사랴와, 아다야의 아들 마아세야와, 시그리의 아들 엘리사밧과 밀약을 맺었다.
  2. 이들 백부장들은 유다의 모든 성읍으로 돌아다니며, 레위 사람들과 이스라엘 각 가문의 족장들을 모아서, 예루살렘으로 데리고 왔다.
  3. 그들이 모두 하나님의 성전에 모여, 왕의 아들 요아스와 언약을 세웠다. 여호야다가 그들에게 말하였다. "여기에 왕세자가 계십니다. 이 분이 왕이 되셔야 합니다. 이것은 다윗 자손이 왕이 되어야 한다는 주님의 약속을 따르는 것입니다.
  4. 이제 여러분이 하여야 할 일을 말하겠습니다. 이번 안식일에 맡은 일을 하러 오는 당번 제사장들과 레위 사람들은, 여기 성전에 도착하여, 삼분의 일은 성전 문을 지키고,
  5. 또 삼분의 일은 왕궁을 지키고, 나머지는 '기초문'을 지키십시오. 일반 백성은 주님의 성전 뜰로 모입니다.
  1. In the seventh year Jehoiada showed his strength. He made a covenant with the commanders of units of a hundred: Azariah son of Jeroham, Ishmael son of Jehohanan, Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat son of Zicri.
  2. They went throughout Judah and gathered the Levites and the heads of Israelite families from all the towns. When they came to Jerusalem,
  3. the whole assembly made a covenant with the king at the temple of God. Jehoiada said to them, "The king's son shall reign, as the LORD promised concerning the descendants of David.
  4. Now this is what you are to do: A third of you priests and Levites who are going on duty on the Sabbath are to keep watch at the doors,
  5. a third of you at the royal palace and a third at the Foundation Gate, and all the other men are to be in the courtyards of the temple of the LORD.
  1. 그 날 일을 맡은 제사장들과 그들을 돕는 레위 사람들 말고는, 어느 누구도 성전 안으로 들어오지 못합니다. 거룩하게 구별된 제사장들과 레위 사람들만 주님의 성전 안으로 들어오고, 그밖의 일반 백성은 주님께서 지시하신 대로 성전 밖에 서 있어야 합니다.
  2. 레위 사람들은 제각기 병기를 들고 왕을 호위하십시오. 임금님께서 드나드실 때에는 반드시 경호하도록 하십시오. 그리고 어느 누구라도 이 성전 안으로 들어오려고 하면 모두 죽여야 합니다."
  3. 레위 사람들과 모든 유다 사람들은, 여호야다가 명령한 것을 그대로 다 하였다. 여호야다 제사장이 안식일에 맡은 일을 끝낸 사람들마저 집으로 돌아가지 못하게 붙들어 두었으므로, 지휘관들은 안식일 당번인 사람들과 비번인 사람들을 다 데리고 있었다.
  4. 여호야다 제사장이 백부장들에게 창과 크고 작은 방패들을 나누어 주었다. 그것들은 다윗 왕의 것으로서, 하나님의 성전 안에 간직되어 있던 것들이었다.
  5. 그는 또 일반 백성에게도 무기를 들려, 성전 남쪽에서 북쪽 끝에 이르기까지 전 지역에 그들을 배치시키고, 제단 근처에서나 성전 안에서 왕을 경호하게 하였다.
  1. No one is to enter the temple of the LORD except the priests and Levites on duty; they may enter because they are consecrated, but all the other men are to guard what the LORD has assigned to them.
  2. The Levites are to station themselves around the king, each man with his weapons in his hand. Anyone who enters the temple must be put to death. Stay close to the king wherever he goes."
  3. The Levites and all the men of Judah did just as Jehoiada the priest ordered. Each one took his men--those who were going on duty on the Sabbath and those who were going off duty--for Jehoiada the priest had not released any of the divisions.
  4. Then he gave the commanders of units of a hundred the spears and the large and small shields that had belonged to King David and that were in the temple of God.
  5. He stationed all the men, each with his weapon in his hand, around the king--near the altar and the temple, from the south side to the north side of the temple.
  1. 그런 다음에, 여호야다와 그의 아들들이 요아스 왕세자를 데리고 와서, 그에게 왕관을 씌우고, 왕의 직무를 규정한 규례서를 그에게 주고, 기름을 부어 왕으로 삼고 "임금님 만세!" 하고 외쳤다.

  4. 그 때에 여호야다 제사장이 군대를 거느린 백부장들을 불러 내어, 그들에게 명령을 내렸다. "저 여자를 대열 밖으로 끌어 내시오. 저 여자를 따르는 사람도 모두 칼로 쳐죽이시오." 여호야다는 주님의 성전 안에서는 그 여자를 죽이지 말라고 하였다.
  5. 그래서 그들은 그 여자를 이끌고 왕궁 '말의 문' 어귀로 들어가, 거기에서 그 여자를 처형하였다.
  1. Jehoiada and his sons brought out the king's son and put the crown on him; they presented him with a copy of the covenant and proclaimed him king. They anointed him and shouted, "Long live the king!"
  2. When Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and cheering the king, she went to them at the temple of the LORD.
  3. She looked, and there was the king, standing by his pillar at the entrance. The officers and the trumpeters were beside the king, and all the people of the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets, and singers with musical instruments were leading the praises. Then Athaliah tore her robes and shouted, "Treason! Treason!"
  4. Jehoiada the priest sent out the commanders of units of a hundred, who were in charge of the troops, and said to them: "Bring her out between the ranks and put to the sword anyone who follows her." For the priest had said, "Do not put her to death at the temple of the LORD."
  5. So they seized her as she reached the entrance of the Horse Gate on the palace grounds, and there they put her to death.
  1. 그런 다음에 여호야다는, 자신과 백성과 왕이 주님의 백성이 되는 언약을 세웠다.
  2. 그렇게 하고 난 다음에, 모든 백성이 바알 신전으로 몰려가서, 그 신전을 허물고, 제단들을 뒤엎고, 신상들을 완전히 부수어 버렸다. 또 그들은 거기 제단 앞에서 바알의 맛단 제사장을 죽였다.

  1. Jehoiada then made a covenant that he and the people and the king would be the LORD's people.
  2. All the people went to the temple of Baal and tore it down. They smashed the altars and idols and killed Mattan the priest of Baal in front of the altars.
  3. Then Jehoiada placed the oversight of the temple of the LORD in the hands of the priests, who were Levites, to whom David had made assignments in the temple, to present the burnt offerings of the LORD as written in the Law of Moses, with rejoicing and singing, as David had ordered.
  4. He also stationed doorkeepers at the gates of the LORD's temple so that no one who was in any way unclean might enter.
  5. He took with him the commanders of hundreds, the nobles, the rulers of the people and all the people of the land and brought the king down from the temple of the LORD. They went into the palace through the Upper Gate and seated the king on the royal throne,
  1. 그 땅의 모든 백성들이 기뻐하였다. 아달랴가 살해된 뒤로, 도성은 평온을 되찾았다.
  1. and all the people of the land rejoiced. And the city was quiet, because Athaliah had been slain with the sword.
