예레미야 7:1-8:22

 유다의 죄는 성전 예배에서도 지적되었다. 즉 유다 백성들은 성전에서 제사를 드리면서 우상을 숭배하였고, 영적 지도자들은 율법을 잘못 해석하고 기록하여 백성들을 잘못 인도하였다. 하나님께서는 이 죄를 회개하지 않으면 형벌을 내리겠다고 선언하셨지만, 유다는 끝내 회개하지 않아 바벨론의 침략이라는 하나님의 징계를 받게 되었다.
  
  유다의 책망(7:1-8:3)    
 
  1. 주님께서 예레미야에게,
  2. 주님의 성전 문에 서서, 주님께 예배하려고 문으로 들어오는 모든 유다 사람에게 주님의 말씀을 큰소리로 일러주라고 하셨다.
  3. "나 만군의 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 말한다. 너희의 모든 생활과 행실을 고쳐라. 그러면 내가 이 곳에서 너희와 함께 머물러 살겠다.
  4. '이것이 주님의 성전이다, 주님의 성전이다, 주님의 성전이다' 하고 속이는 말을, 너희는 의지하지 말아라.
  5. 너희가, 모든 생활과 행실을 참으로 바르게 고치고, 참으로 이웃끼리 서로 정직하게 살면서,
  1. This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD :
  2. "Stand at the gate of the LORD's house and there proclaim this message: " 'Hear the word of the LORD, all you people of Judah who come through these gates to worship the LORD.
  3. This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Reform your ways and your actions, and I will let you live in this place.
  4. Do not trust in deceptive words and say, "This is the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD!"
  5. If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly,
  1. 나그네와 고아와 과부를 억압하지 않고, 이 곳에서 죄 없는 사람을 살해하지 않고, 다른 신들을 섬겨 스스로 재앙을 불러들이지 않으면,
  2. 내가 너희 조상에게 영원무궁 하도록 준 이 땅, 바로 이 곳에서 너희가 머물러 살도록 하겠다.
  3. 그런데도 너희는 지금 전혀 무익한 거짓말을 의지하고 있다.
  4. 너희는 모두 도둑질을 하고, 사람을 죽이고, 음행을 하고, 거짓으로 맹세를 하고, 바알에게 분향을 하고, 너희가 알지 못하는 다른 신들을 섬긴다.
  5. 너희는 이처럼 내가 미워하는 일만 저지르고서도, 내 이름으로 불리는 이 성전으로 들어와서, 내 앞에 서서 '우리는 안전하다' 하고 말한다. 너희는 그런 역겨운 모든 일들을 또 되풀이하고 싶어서 그렇게 말한다.
  1. if you do not oppress the alien, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm,
  2. then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave your forefathers for ever and ever.
  3. But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless.
  4. " 'Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury, burn incense to Baal and follow other gods you have not known,
  5. and then come and stand before me in this house, which bears my Name, and say, "We are safe"-safe to do all these detestable things?
  1. 그래, 내 이름으로 불리는 이 성전이, 너희의 눈에는 도둑들이 숨는 곳으로 보이느냐? 여기에서 벌어진 온갖 악을 나도 똑똑히 다 보았다. 나 주의 말이다.
  2. 너희는 내가 처음으로 내 이름을 두었던 실로에 있는 내 처소로 가서, 내 백성 이스라엘의 죄악 때문에 내가 그 곳을 어떻게 하였는지 보아라.
  3. 너희가 온갖 죄를 지었으므로, 내가 너희에게 서둘러서 경고하였으나, 너희는 듣지 않았다. 내가 불렀으나, 너희는 대답도 하지 않았다. 나 주의 말이다.
  4. 그러므로 내가 실로에서 한 것과 똑같이, 내 이름으로 불리며 너희가 의지하는 이 성전, 곧 내가 너희와 너희 조상에게 준 이 장소에, 내가 똑같이 하겠다.
  5. 내가 너희의 모든 친척 곧 에브라임 자손 모두를 내 앞에서 쫓아 버렸던 것과 똑같이, 너희도 내 앞에서 멀리 쫓아 버리겠다."
  1. Has this house, which bears my Name, become a den of robbers to you? But I have been watching! declares the LORD.
  2. " 'Go now to the place in Shiloh where I first made a dwelling for my Name, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel.
  3. While you were doing all these things, declares the LORD, I spoke to you again and again, but you did not listen; I called you, but you did not answer.
  4. Therefore, what I did to Shiloh I will now do to the house that bears my Name, the temple you trust in, the place I gave to you and your fathers.
  5. I will thrust you from my presence, just as I did all your brothers, the people of Ephraim.'
  1. "그러므로 너 예레미야는 이 백성을 보살펴 달라고 기도하지 말아라. 너는 그들을 도와달라고 나에게 호소하거나 간구하지도 말고, 나에게 조르지도 말아라. 나는 이제 너의 말을 들어주지 않을 것이다.
  2. 너는 지금 그들이 유다의 성읍들과 예루살렘의 모든 거리에서 하는 일들을 보고 있지 않느냐?
  3. 자식들은 땔감을 줍고, 아버지들은 불을 피우고, 어머니들은 하늘 여신에게 줄 빵을 만들려고 가루로 반죽을 하고 있다. 또 그들은 나의 노를 격동시키려고, 다른 신들에게 술을 부어 바친다.
  4. 그러나 그들이 그렇게 함으로 나를 격노하게 하는 것으로 그치느냐? 그렇지 않다. 오히려 그들 스스로가 낯뜨거운 수치를 당하는 것이 아니냐? 나 주의 말이다.
  5. 그러므로 나 주 하나님이 말한다. 나의 무서운 분노가 바로 이 땅으로 쏟아져서, 사람과 짐승과 들의 나무와 땅의 열매 위로 쏟아져서, 꺼지지 않고 탈 것이다."
  1. "So do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them; do not plead with me, for I will not listen to you.
  2. Do you not see what they are doing in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
  3. The children gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough and make cakes of bread for the Queen of Heaven. They pour out drink offerings to other gods to provoke me to anger.
  4. But am I the one they are provoking? declares the LORD. Are they not rather harming themselves, to their own shame?
  5. " 'Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: My anger and my wrath will be poured out on this place, on man and beast, on the trees of the field and on the fruit of the ground, and it will burn and not be quenched.
  1. "나 만군의 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 말한다. 내가 너희에게 받고 싶은 것은 제사가 아니다. 너희가 번제는 다 태워 내게 바치고 다른 제물은 너희가 먹는다고 하지만, 내가 허락할 터이니, 번제든 무슨 제사든 고기는 다 너희들이나 먹어라.
  2. 내가 너희 조상을 이집트 땅에서 데리고 나왔을 때에, 내가 그들에게 번제물이나 다른 어떤 희생제물을 바치라고 했더냐? 바치라고 명령이라도 했더냐?
  3. 오직 내가 명한 것은 나에게 순종하라는 것, 그러면 내가 그들의 하나님이 되고, 그들은 나의 백성이 될 것이라는 것, 내가 그들에게 명하는 그 길로만 걸어가면, 그들이 잘 될 것이라고 한 것뿐이지 않았더냐?
  4. 그러나 그들은 내게 순종하지도 않고, 내 말에 귀를 기울이지도 않았다. 오히려 자기들의 악한 마음에서 나오는 온갖 계획과 어리석은 고집대로 살고, 얼굴을 나에게로 돌리지 않고, 오히려 등을 나에게서 돌렸다.
  5. 너희 조상이 이집트 땅에서 나온 날로부터 오늘까지, 내가 나의 종 예언자들을 너희에게 보내고 또 보냈지만,
  1. " 'This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Go ahead, add your burnt offerings to your other sacrifices and eat the meat yourselves!
  2. For when I brought your forefathers out of Egypt and spoke to them, I did not just give them commands about burnt offerings and sacrifices,
  3. but I gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in all the ways I command you, that it may go well with you.
  4. But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backward and not forward.
  5. From the time your forefathers left Egypt until now, day after day, again and again I sent you my servants the prophets.
  1. 나에게 순종하지도 않고, 귀를 기울이지도 않았다. 오히려 너희는 조상보다도 더 고집이 세고 악하였다."
  2. "그래서 네가 그들에게 이 모든 말을 전하더라도, 그들은 여전히 듣지 않을 것이다. 또 네가 그들에게 외치더라도, 그들이 너에게 아무런 반응도 보이지 않을 것이다.
  3. 그들은 자기들의 하나님인 나 주의 말에 순종하지도 않고, 어떤 교훈도 받아들이지 않는 백성이다. 진실이 아주 없어졌다. 그들의 입에서 진실이 사라진지 이미 오래다. 그러므로 너는 그들에게 이렇게 전하여라.
  4. '예루살렘아, 너는 긴 머리채를 잘라서 던지고, 메마른 언덕 위에 올라가서 슬피 울어라. 주님께서는 이 세대를 보시고 진노하셔서, 이 세대를 물리쳐 버리셨다.'"
  5. "나 주의 말이다. 참으로 유다 백성은, 내가 보기에 악한 일들을 하였다. 그들은, 나의 이름을 찬양하려고 세운 성전 안에다가, 자기들이 섬기는 역겨운 것들을 세워 놓아서 성전을 더럽혔다.
  1. But they did not listen to me or pay attention. They were stiff-necked and did more evil than their forefathers.'
  2. "When you tell them all this, they will not listen to you; when you call to them, they will not answer.
  3. Therefore say to them, 'This is the nation that has not obeyed the LORD its God or responded to correction. Truth has perished; it has vanished from their lips.
  4. Cut off your hair and throw it away; take up a lament on the barren heights, for the LORD has rejected and abandoned this generation that is under his wrath.
  5. " 'The people of Judah have done evil in my eyes, declares the LORD. They have set up their detestable idols in the house that bears my Name and have defiled it.
  1. 또 그들은 자기들의 아들과 딸들을 불태워 제물로 바치려고 '힌놈의 아들 골짜기'에 도벳이라는 산당을 쌓아 놓았는데, 그런 것은 내가 명하지도 않았고, 상상조차도 하여 본 적이 없다.
  2. 그러므로 보아라, 그 날이 오면, 다시는 이 곳을 도벳이나 '힌놈의 아들 골짜기'라고 부르지 않고, 오히려 '살육의 골짜기'라고 부를 것이다. 나 주의 말이다. 그 때에는 매장할 자리가 더 이상 없어서, 사람들이 도벳에 와서 시체를 묻을 것이다.
  3. 그 때에는 이 백성의 시체가 공중의 새와 땅에 사는 짐승의 먹이가 될 것이며, 아무도 그것을 쫓아 줄 사람이 없을 것이다.
  4. 그 때에는 내가 유다의 성읍들과 예루살렘의 모든 거리에서, 흥겨워하는 소리와 기뻐하는 소리, 즐거워하는 신랑 신부의 목소리를 사라지게 하겠다. 온 나라가 황무지로 바뀔 것이기 때문이다."
  1. They have built the high places of Topheth in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to burn their sons and daughters in the fire--something I did not command, nor did it enter my mind.
  2. So beware, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when people will no longer call it Topheth or the Valley of Ben Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter, for they will bury the dead in Topheth until there is no more room.
  3. Then the carcasses of this people will become food for the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and there will be no one to frighten them away.
  4. I will bring an end to the sounds of joy and gladness and to the voices of bride and bridegroom in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, for the land will become desolate.
 
 
  1. "나 주의 말이다. 그 때에는 사람들이 유다 왕들의 뼈와, 유다 지도자들의 뼈와, 제사장들의 뼈와, 예언자들의 뼈와, 예루살렘 주민의 뼈를, 그들의 무덤에서 꺼내다가,
  2. 그들이 좋아하고 노예처럼 섬기고 뒤쫓아 다니고, 뜻을 물어 보면서 찾아 다니고 숭배하던, 해와 달과 하늘의 모든 천체 앞에 뿌릴 것이다. 그래도 그 뼈들을 모아다가 묻어 주는 사람이 아무도 없을 것이니, 그것들은 이제 땅바닥에서 거름이 되고 말 것이다.
  3. 그리고 이 악한 백성 가운데서 남아 있는 자들은, 내가 쫓아 보낸 여러 유배지에서 사느니보다는, 차라리 죽는 쪽을 택할 것이다. 나 만군의 주가 하는 말이다."
  1. " 'At that time, declares the LORD, the bones of the kings and officials of Judah, the bones of the priests and prophets, and the bones of the people of Jerusalem will be removed from their graves.
  2. They will be exposed to the sun and the moon and all the stars of the heavens, which they have loved and served and which they have followed and consulted and worshiped. They will not be gathered up or buried, but will be like refuse lying on the ground.
  3. Wherever I banish them, all the survivors of this evil nation will prefer death to life, declares the LORD Almighty.'
 
  회개하지 않는 유다(8:4-8:22)    
 
  1. "너는 그들에게 전하여라. 나 주가 말한다. 누구나 넘어지면, 다시 일어나지 않겠느냐? 누구나 떠나가면, 다시 돌아오지 않겠느냐?
  2. 그런데도 예루살렘 백성은, 왜 늘 떠나가기만 하고, 거짓된 것에 사로잡혀서 돌아오기를 거절하느냐?
  3. 내가 귀를 기울이고 들어 보았으나, 그들은 진실한 말을 하지 않았다. '내가 이런 일을 하다니!' 하고 자책은 하면서도 자신의 악행을 뉘우치는 사람은 하나도 없었다. 그들은 모두 자기들의 그릇된 길로 갔다. 마치 전쟁터로 달려가는 군마들처럼 떠나갔다.
  4. 하늘을 나는 학도 제 철을 알고, 비둘기와 제비와 두루미도 저마다 돌아올 때를 지키는데, 내 백성은 주의 법규를 알지 못한다.
  5. 너희가 어떻게 '우리는 지혜를 가진 사람들이요, 우리는 주님의 율법을 안다' 하고 말할 수가 있느냐? 사실은 서기관들의 거짓된 붓이 율법을 거짓말로 바꾸어 놓았다.
  1. "Say to them, 'This is what the LORD says: " 'When men fall down, do they not get up? When a man turns away, does he not return?
  2. Why then have these people turned away? Why does Jerusalem always turn away? They cling to deceit; they refuse to return.
  3. I have listened attentively, but they do not say what is right. No one repents of his wickedness, saying, "What have I done?" Each pursues his own course like a horse charging into battle.
  4. Even the stork in the sky knows her appointed seasons, and the dove, the swift and the thrush observe the time of their migration. But my people do not know the requirements of the LORD.
  5. " 'How can you say, "We are wise, for we have the law of the LORD," when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely?
  1. 그러므로 지혜 있는 사람들이 부끄러움을 당하고, 공포에 떨며 붙잡혀 갈 것이다. 그들이 주의 말을 거절하였으니, 이제 그들에게 무슨 지혜가 있다고 하겠느냐?
  2. 그러므로 내가 그들의 아내들을 다른 남자들에게 넘겨 주고, 그들의 밭도 다른 사람들에게 주어 차지하게 하겠다." "힘 있는 자든 힘 없는 자든, 모두가 자기 잇속만을 채우며, 사기를 쳐서 재산을 모았다. 예언자와 제사장까지도 모두 한결같이 백성을 속였다.
  3. 백성이 상처를 입어 앓고 있을 때에, 그들은 '괜찮다! 괜찮다!' 하고 말하지만, 괜찮기는 어디가 괜찮으냐?
  4. 그들이 그렇게 역겨운 일들을 하고도, 부끄러워하기라도 하였느냐? 천만에! 그들은 부끄러워하지도 않았고, 얼굴을 붉히지도 않았다. 그러므로 그들이 쓰러져서 시체 더미를 이룰 것이다. 내가 그들에게 벌을 내릴 때에, 그들이 모두 쓰러져 죽을 것이다. 나 주의 말이다.
  5. 나 주의 말이다. 그들이 거둘 것을 내가 말끔히 거두어 치우리니, 포도덩굴에 포도송이도 없고, 무화과나무에 무화과도 없고, 잎까지 모두 시들어 버릴 것이다. 그러므로 내가 그들에게 준 것들이 모두 사라져 버릴 것이다."
  1. The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and trapped. Since they have rejected the word of the LORD, what kind of wisdom do they have?
  2. Therefore I will give their wives to other men and their fields to new owners. From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit.
  3. They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. "Peace, peace," they say, when there is no peace.
  4. Are they ashamed of their loathsome conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when they are punished, says the LORD.
  5. " 'I will take away their harvest, declares the LORD. There will be no grapes on the vine. There will be no figs on the tree, and their leaves will wither. What I have given them will be taken from them. ' "
  1. "모두 모여라. 그냥 앉아서 죽을 수는 없다. 견고한 성읍들을 찾아 들어가서, 죽어도 거기에서 죽자. 우리가 주님께 범죄하였기 때문에, 주 우리의 하나님께서 우리에게 독이 든 물을 마시게 하여서, 우리를 죽이려 하신다.
  2. 우리가 고대한 것은 평화였다. 그런데 좋은 일이라고는 하나도 없다. 우리는 이 상처가 낫기만을 고대하였는데, 오히려 무서운 일만 당하고 있다.
  3. 적군의 말들이 내는 콧소리가 이미 단에서부터 들려 오고, 그 힘센 말들이 부르짖는 소리에 온 땅이 진동한다. 적군이 들어와서, 이 땅과 그 안에 가득 찬 것을 휩쓸고, 성읍과 그 안에 사는 사람들을 다 삼킨다."
  4. "보아라, 내가 뱀을 너희에게 보내겠다. 어떤 술법으로도 제어할 수 없는 독사들을 너희에게 보낼 것이니, 그것들이 너희를 물 것이다. 나 주의 말이다."
  5. 나의 기쁨이 사라졌다. 나의 슬픔은 나을 길이 없고, 이 가슴은 멍들었다.
  1. "Why are we sitting here? Gather together! Let us flee to the fortified cities and perish there! For the LORD our God has doomed us to perish and given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against him.
  2. We hoped for peace but no good has come, for a time of healing but there was only terror.
  3. The snorting of the enemy's horses is heard from Dan; at the neighing of their stallions the whole land trembles. They have come to devour the land and everything in it, the city and all who live there."
  4. "See, I will send venomous snakes among you, vipers that cannot be charmed, and they will bite you," declares the LORD.
  5. O my Comforter in sorrow, my heart is faint within me.
  1. 저 소리, 가련한 나의 백성, 나의 딸이 울부짖는 저 소리가, 먼 이국 땅에서 들려 온다. （백성이 울부짖는다.） "이제 주님께서는 시온을 떠나셨단 말인가? 시온에는 왕도 없단 말인가?" （그러나 주님께서 말씀하신다.） "어쩌자고 조각한 신상과 헛된 우상을 남의 나라에서 들여다가, 나를 노하게 하였느냐?"
  2. （백성이 또 울부짖는다.） "여름철이 다 지났는데도, 곡식을 거둘 때가 지났는데도, 우리는 아직 구출되지 못하였습니다."
  3. 나의 백성, 나의 딸이, 채찍을 맞아 상하였기 때문에, 내 마음도 상처를 입는구나. 슬픔과 공포가 나를 사로잡는구나.
  4. "길르앗에는 유향이 떨어졌느냐? 그 곳에는 의사가 하나도 없느냐?" 어찌하여 나의 백성, 나의 딸의 병이 낫지 않는 것일까?
  1. Listen to the cry of my people from a land far away: "Is the LORD not in Zion? Is her King no longer there?" "Why have they provoked me to anger with their images, with their worthless foreign idols?"
  2. "The harvest is past, the summer has ended, and we are not saved."
  3. Since my people are crushed, I am crushed; I mourn, and horror grips me.
  4. Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is there no healing for the wound of my people?
