다니엘 4:19-5:31

 다니엘은 느부갓네살 왕의 두번째 꿈을 해석해 주었고, 그 해석대로 왕은 일곱 때 동안 왕위에서 쫓겨났다가 하나님의 주권을 깨달은 후 다시 왕위를 되찾았다. 이에 느부갓네살 왕은 하나님을 찬양하고 조서를 통해 하나님께 대한 신앙 고백을 하였다. 훗날 바벨론의 왕이 된 벨사살은 잔치를 벌이고 야웨의 성전 기명으로 술을 마시다가 손가락이 나타나 벽에 글자를 쓰는 것을 보고 놀라 다니엘을 불러 그 글자를 해석하게 했는데,그 해석대로 벨사살은 그날 밤에 죽임을 당하고 메대 사람 다리오가 통치하게 되었다.
  
  꿈 해석(4:19-4:37)    
 
  1. 왕의 말이 끝났을 때에, 일명 벨드사살이라고 하는 다니엘은 한동안 놀라서 몹시 당황하였다. 왕이 그에게 말하였다. "벨드사살아, 이 꿈과 그 해몽이 어떠하든지 번민하지 말아라." 벨드사살이 아뢰었다. "임금님, 이 꿈은 임금님의 원수들이 꾸었더라면 좋았을 뻔 했습니다. 해몽도 임금님의 원수들에게나 해줄 수 있으면 좋겠습니다.
  2. 임금님이 보신 그 나무는 점점 자라서 튼튼해지고, 그 높이가 하늘에까지 닿아서, 땅 끝 어디에서나 그 나무를 볼 수 있었고,
  3. 그 잎이 무성하여 아름답고, 그 열매가 아주 많아서, 온 세상 피조물의 먹거리가 되었고, 그 나무 아래에서 들짐승이 쉬었으며, 그 가지에는 하늘의 새들이 깃들었다고 하셨습니다.
  4. 임금님, 그 나무는 바로 임금님이십니다. 임금님은 강대해지셨습니다. 임금님의 강대함이 하늘에 닿았고, 임금님의 통치가 땅 끝까지 이르렀습니다.
  5. 임금님이 보시니, 거룩한 감시자가 하늘로부터 내려와서, 이렇게 말하였습니다. '이 나무를 베어 없애되, 다만 뿌리의 그루터기는 땅에 남겨 두고, 쇠줄과 놋줄로 동여서 들풀 속에 버려 두고, 하늘에서 내리는 이슬에 젖게 하고, 들짐승과 함께 어울리게 하여라. 이렇게 일곱 때를 지내도록 하여라.'
  1. Then Daniel (also called Belteshazzar) was greatly perplexed for a time, and his thoughts terrified him. So the king said, "Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or its meaning alarm you." Belteshazzar answered, "My lord, if only the dream applied to your enemies and its meaning to your adversaries!
  2. The tree you saw, which grew large and strong, with its top touching the sky, visible to the whole earth,
  3. with beautiful leaves and abundant fruit, providing food for all, giving shelter to the beasts of the field, and having nesting places in its branches for the birds of the air-
  4. you, O king, are that tree! You have become great and strong; your greatness has grown until it reaches the sky, and your dominion extends to distant parts of the earth.
  5. "You, O king, saw a messenger, a holy one, coming down from heaven and saying, 'Cut down the tree and destroy it, but leave the stump, bound with iron and bronze, in the grass of the field, while its roots remain in the ground. Let him be drenched with the dew of heaven; let him live like the wild animals, until seven times pass by for him.'
  1. 임금님, 그 해몽은 이러합니다. 가장 높으신 분이 내리신 명령이, 임금님께 미칠 것입니다.
  2. 임금님은 사람에게서 쫓겨나셔서, 들짐승과 함께 사시며, 소처럼 풀을 뜯고, 하늘에서 내리는 이슬에 젖으실 것입니다. 이렇게 일곱 때가 지나간 뒤에, 임금님은 비로소, 가장 높으신 분이 인간의 나라를 다스리신다는 것과, 누구든지 그의 뜻에 맞는 사람에게 나라를 주신다는 것을 깨달으실 것입니다.
  3. 또 나무 뿌리의 그루터기를 남겨 두라고 명령하신 것은, 하나님이 세상을 다스리신다는 것을 임금님이 깨달으신 다음에야, 임금님의 나라가 굳게 선다는 뜻입니다.
  4. 그러니 임금님은 저의 조언을 받아 주시기를 바랍니다. 공의를 행하셔서 임금님의 죄를 속하시고, 가난한 백성에게 자비를 베푸셔서 죄를 속하시기 바랍니다. 그렇게 하시면 임금님의 영화가 지속될 수 있을지도 모릅니다."
  5. 이 모든 일이 다 느부갓네살 왕에게 그대로 일어났다.
  1. "This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree the Most High has issued against my lord the king:
  2. You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like cattle and be drenched with the dew of heaven. Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes.
  3. The command to leave the stump of the tree with its roots means that your kingdom will be restored to you when you acknowledge that Heaven rules.
  4. Therefore, O king, be pleased to accept my advice: Renounce your sins by doing what is right, and your wickedness by being kind to the oppressed. It may be that then your prosperity will continue."
  5. All this happened to King Nebuchadnezzar.
  1. 열두 달이 지난 뒤에, 어느 날, 왕이 바빌론 왕궁 옥상에서 거닐면서
  2. 혼자 중얼거렸다. "내가 세운 이 도성, 이 거대한 바빌론을 보아라! 나의 권세와 능력과 나의 영화와 위엄이 그대로 나타나 있지 않느냐!"
  3. 이 말이 왕의 입에서 채 떨어지기도 전에, 하늘로부터 내려오는 말소리가 들렸다. "느부갓네살 왕아, 너에게 선언한다. 왕권이 너에게서 떠났다.
  4. 너는 사람 사는 세상에서 쫓겨나서 들짐승과 함께 살면서 소처럼 풀을 뜯어먹을 것이다. 이와 같이 일곱 때를 지낸 다음에야, 너는 가장 높으신 분이 인간의 나라를 다스리신다는 것과, 그의 뜻에 맞는 사람에게 나라를 주신다는 것을 알게 될 것이다."
  5. 바로 그 순간에 이 말이 느부갓네살 왕에게 이루어져서, 그가 사람 사는 세상에서 쫓겨나서, 소처럼 풀을 뜯어먹었으며, 몸은 하늘에서 내리는 이슬에 젖었고, 머리카락은 독수리의 깃털처럼 자랐으며, 손톱은 새의 발톱같이 자랐다.
  1. Twelve months later, as the king was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon,
  2. he said, "Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?"
  3. The words were still on his lips when a voice came from heaven, "This is what is decreed for you, King Nebuchadnezzar: Your royal authority has been taken from you.
  4. You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like cattle. Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes."
  5. Immediately what had been said about Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled. He was driven away from people and ate grass like cattle. His body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his nails like the claws of a bird.
  1. "정해진 기간이 다 되어, 나 느부갓네살은 하늘을 우러러보고서 정신을 되찾았고, 그리고 가장 높으신 분을 찬송하고, 영원하신 분을 찬양하며, 그에게 영광을 돌렸다. 그의 통치 영원하고 그의 나라 대대로 이어진다.
  2. 그는 땅의 모든 거민을 없는 것 같이 여기시며 하늘의 군대와 이 땅의 모든 거민에게 뜻대로 하시지만, 아무도 그가 하시는 일을 막지 못하고, 무슨 일을 이렇게 하셨느냐고 그에게 물을 사람이 없다.
  3. 내가 정신을 되찾았을 때에, 나의 명예와 위엄과 나라의 영화가 회복되었고, 나의 고문관들과 대신들이 나를 찾아왔으며, 나는 이전보다 더 큰 영예를 받으면서 왕위를 회복하였다.
  4. 이제 나 느부갓네살은 하늘의 왕을 찬양하고 높이며, 그분에게 영광을 돌리는 바이다. 과연 그가 하시는 일은 모두 참되며, 그의 모든 길은 공의로우니, 그는 교만한 이를 낮추신다."
  1. At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever. His dominion is an eternal dominion; his kingdom endures from generation to generation.
  2. All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: "What have you done?"
  3. At the same time that my sanity was restored, my honor and splendor were returned to me for the glory of my kingdom. My advisers and nobles sought me out, and I was restored to my throne and became even greater than before.
  4. Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.
 
  벨사살 왕의 잔치(5:1-5:31)    
 
  1. 벨사살 왕이 귀한 손님 천 명을 불러서 큰 잔치를 베풀고, 그 천 명과 더불어 술을 마셨다.
  2. 벨사살 왕은 술을 마시면서 명령을 내려서, 그의 아버지 느부갓네살 왕이 예루살렘 성전에서 가져 온 금그릇과 은그릇들을 가져 오게 하였다. 왕과 귀한 손님과 왕비들과 후궁들이 모두 그것으로 술을 마시게 할 참이었다.
  3. 그래서 예루살렘에 있는 하나님의 집 성전에서 가져 온 금그릇들을 꺼내서, 왕과 귀한 손님과 왕비들과 후궁들이 그것으로 술을 마셨다.
  4. 그들은 술을 마시고서, 금과 은과 동과 철과 나무와 돌로 만든 신들을 찬양하였다.
  5. 그런데 바로 그 때에 갑자기 사람의 손이 나타나더니, 촛대 앞에 있는 왕궁 석고 벽 위에다가 글을 쓰기 시작하였다. 왕은 그 손가락이 글을 쓰는 것을 보고 있었다.
  1. King Belshazzar gave a great banquet for a thousand of his nobles and drank wine with them.
  2. While Belshazzar was drinking his wine, he gave orders to bring in the gold and silver goblets that Nebuchadnezzar his father had taken from the temple in Jerusalem, so that the king and his nobles, his wives and his concubines might drink from them.
  3. So they brought in the gold goblets that had been taken from the temple of God in Jerusalem, and the king and his nobles, his wives and his concubines drank from them.
  4. As they drank the wine, they praised the gods of gold and silver, of bronze, iron, wood and stone.
  5. Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall, near the lampstand in the royal palace. The king watched the hand as it wrote.
  1. 그러다가 왕의 얼굴빛이 창백해지더니, 공포에 사로잡혀서, 넓적다리의 힘을 잃고 무릎을 서로 부딪치며 떨었다.
  2. 왕은 큰소리로 외쳐서, 주술가들과 점성술가들과 점성가들을 불러오게 하였다. 그들이 들어왔을 때에, 그는 바빌론의 지혜자들에게 말하였다. "누구든지 이 글자를 읽고서, 그 뜻을 나에게 알려 주는 사람은 자색 옷을 입히고, 금 목걸이를 목에 걸어 주며, 이 나라에서 셋째 가는 통치자로 삼겠다."
  3. 왕궁 지혜자들이 모두 나왔으나, 아무도 그 글자를 읽는 사람이 없었고, 그 뜻을 왕에게 알려 주는 사람도 없었다.
  4. 벨사살 왕은 크게 낙심하여 얼굴빛이 변하였고, 손님들도 당황하였다.
  5. 왕과 귀한 손님들의 고함 소리를 듣고서, 왕의 어머니가 연회장으로 들어왔다. 왕의 어머니가 왕에게 말하였다. "임금님, 임금님의 만수무강을 빕니다. 임금님은 너무 번민하지 마시고, 얼굴에서 근심을 떨쳐 버리시기 바랍니다.
  1. His face turned pale and he was so frightened that his knees knocked together and his legs gave way.
  2. The king called out for the enchanters, astrologers and diviners to be brought and said to these wise men of Babylon, "Whoever reads this writing and tells me what it means will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around his neck, and he will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom."
  3. Then all the king's wise men came in, but they could not read the writing or tell the king what it meant.
  4. So King Belshazzar became even more terrified and his face grew more pale. His nobles were baffled.
  5. The queen, hearing the voices of the king and his nobles, came into the banquet hall. "O king, live forever!" she said. "Don't be alarmed! Don't look so pale!
  1. 임금님의 나라에 거룩한 신들의 영을 받은 한 사람이 있습니다. 그는 임금님의 아버지 때에, 명철과 총명과 신들의 지혜와 같은 지혜를 가진 사람으로 알려진 인물입니다. 임금님의 아버지 느부갓네살 왕께서는 그 사람을 마술사들과 주술가들과 점성술가들과 점성가들의 우두머리로 세우셨습니다.
  2. 그의 이름은 다니엘입니다. 그에게는 탁월한 정신과 지식과 꿈을 해몽하는 총명이 있어서, 수수께끼도 풀었고, 어려운 문제도 해결했습니다. 느부갓네살 왕은 그의 이름을 벨드사살이라고 부르셨습니다. 이제 다니엘을 불러 보십시오. 그러면 그가 그 글자를 풀어서, 임금님께 알려 드릴 것입니다."
  3. 다니엘이 왕 앞에 나아오니, 왕이 다니엘에게 물었다. "그대가 바로 나의 부왕께서 유다에서 데려온 유다 포로 가운데 하나인 그 다니엘이란 사람이오?
  4. 나는 그대의 이야기를 들었소. 그대에게는 신들의 영이 있고, 명철과 총명과 탁월한 지혜가 있다고 들었소.
  5. 내가 지혜자들과 주술가들을 이리로 불러와서, 이 글자를 읽고서 내 앞에서 그 뜻을 알아내라고 하였으나, 그들이 이 글자의 뜻을 나에게 풀이하여 주지 못하였소.
  1. There is a man in your kingdom who has the spirit of the holy gods in him. In the time of your father he was found to have insight and intelligence and wisdom like that of the gods. King Nebuchadnezzar your father--your father the king, I say--appointed him chief of the magicians, enchanters, astrologers and diviners.
  2. This man Daniel, whom the king called Belteshazzar, was found to have a keen mind and knowledge and understanding, and also the ability to interpret dreams, explain riddles and solve difficult problems. Call for Daniel, and he will tell you what the writing means."
  3. So Daniel was brought before the king, and the king said to him, "Are you Daniel, one of the exiles my father the king brought from Judah?
  4. I have heard that the spirit of the gods is in you and that you have insight, intelligence and outstanding wisdom.
  5. The wise men and enchanters were brought before me to read this writing and tell me what it means, but they could not explain it.
  1. 그러나 나는, 그대가 글자를 해석할 수 있고, 어려운 문제도 풀 수 있다고 들었소. 지금 그대가 이 글자를 읽고, 나에게 뜻을 풀이하여 주면, 그대에게 자색 옷을 입히고, 목에 금 목걸이를 걸어 주고, 이 나라에서 셋째 가는 통치자로 삼겠소."
  2. 다니엘이 왕 앞에서 아뢰었다. "임금님이 주시겠다는 선물은 거두시고, 임금님이 내리실 상급은 다른 사람에게 주시기 바랍니다. 그럴지라도 저는 이 글자를 읽고서, 그 뜻을 풀이하여 임금님께 알려 드리겠습니다.
  3. 임금님, 가장 높으신 하나님이 임금님의 아버지 느부갓네살 왕께 나라와 큰 권세와 영광과 위엄을 주셨습니다.
  4. 하나님이 그에게 큰 권세를 주셨으므로, 민족과 언어가 다른 뭇 백성들이 그 앞에서 떨면서 무서워하였으며, 부친께서는 마음대로 사람을 죽이기도 하고, 마음대로 사람을 살리기도 하고, 마음대로 사람을 높이기도 하고, 마음대로 사람을 낮추기도 하셨습니다.
  5. 그러나 부친께서 마음이 높아지고 생각이 거만해지셔서, 교만하게 행동을 하시다가, 왕위에서 쫓겨나셔서, 명예를 잃으신 일이 있었습니다.
  1. Now I have heard that you are able to give interpretations and to solve difficult problems. If you can read this writing and tell me what it means, you will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around your neck, and you will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom."
  2. Then Daniel answered the king, "You may keep your gifts for yourself and give your rewards to someone else. Nevertheless, I will read the writing for the king and tell him what it means.
  3. "O king, the Most High God gave your father Nebuchadnezzar sovereignty and greatness and glory and splendor.
  4. Because of the high position he gave him, all the peoples and nations and men of every language dreaded and feared him. Those the king wanted to put to death, he put to death; those he wanted to spare, he spared; those he wanted to promote, he promoted; and those he wanted to humble, he humbled.
  5. But when his heart became arrogant and hardened with pride, he was deposed from his royal throne and stripped of his glory.
  1. 사람 사는 세상에서 쫓겨나시더니, 그의 마음은 들짐승처럼 되셨고, 들나귀와 함께 사셨으며, 소처럼 풀을 뜯으셨고, 몸은 하늘에서 내리는 이슬로 젖으셨습니다. 그 때에야 비로소 부친께서는, 가장 높으신 하나님이 인간의 나라를 다스리시고, 하나님의 뜻에 맞는 사람을 그 자리에 세우시는 줄을 깨닫게 되셨습니다.
  2. 느부갓네살의 아드님이신 벨사살 임금님은 이 모든 일을 아시면서도, 마음을 겸손하게 낮추지 않으시고,
  3. 하늘의 임금님이시요 주님이신 분을 거역하시고, 스스로를 높이시며, 하나님의 성전에 있던 그릇들을 가져 오게 하셔서, 임금님과 귀한 손님과 왕비들과 후궁들이 그것으로 술을 마시게 하셨습니다. 그리고 임금님은 보거나 듣거나 알지도 못하는, 금과 은과 동과 쇠와 나무와 돌로 만든 신들은 찬양하시면서도, 임금님의 호흡과 모든 길을 주장하시는 하나님께는, 영광을 돌리지 않으셨습니다.
  4. 그러므로 하나님이 손을 보내셔서, 이 글자를 쓰게 하신 것입니다.
  5. 기록된 글자는 바로 '메네 메네 데겔'과 '바르신'입니다.
  1. He was driven away from people and given the mind of an animal; he lived with the wild donkeys and ate grass like cattle; and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven, until he acknowledged that the Most High God is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and sets over them anyone he wishes.
  2. "But you his son, O Belshazzar, have not humbled yourself, though you knew all this.
  3. Instead, you have set yourself up against the Lord of heaven. You had the goblets from his temple brought to you, and you and your nobles, your wives and your concubines drank wine from them. You praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or understand. But you did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways.
  4. Therefore he sent the hand that wrote the inscription.
  5. "This is the inscription that was written: Mene , Mene , Tekel , Parsin
  1. 그 글자를 해석하면, 이러합니다. '메네'는 하나님이 이미 임금님의 나라의 시대를 계산하셔서, 그것이 끝나게 하셨다는 것이고,
  2. '데겔'은, 임금님이 저울에 달리셨는데, 무게가 부족함이 드러났다는 것이고,
  3. '바르신'은 임금님의 왕국이 둘로 나뉘어서 메대와 페르시아 사람에게 넘어갔다는 뜻입니다."
  4. 벨사살이 곧 명령을 내려서, 다니엘에게 자색 옷을 입히고 그의 목에 금 목걸이를 걸어 주었으며, 그를 그 나라에서 셋째 가는 통치자로 삼았다.
  5. 바로 그 날 밤에 바빌로니아의 벨사살 왕은 살해되었고,
  1. "This is what these words mean: Mene : God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.
  2. Tekel : You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.
  3. Peres : Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians."
  4. Then at Belshazzar's command, Daniel was clothed in purple, a gold chain was placed around his neck, and he was proclaimed the third highest ruler in the kingdom.
  5. That very night Belshazzar, king of the Babylonians, was slain,
  1. 메대 사람 다리우스가 그 나라를 차지하였다. 다리우스의 나이는 예순두 살이었다.
  1. and Darius the Mede took over the kingdom, at the age of sixty-two.
