- 유다는 다말에게서 베레스와 세라를 낳고, 베레스는 헤스론을 낳고, 헤스론은 람을 낳고,
- 람은 아미나답을 낳고, 아미나답은 나손을 낳고, 나손은 살몬을 낳고,
- 살몬은 라합에게서 보아스를 낳고, 보아스는 룻에게서 오벳을 낳고, 오벳은 이새를 낳고,

- Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
- And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;
- And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;
- And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;

- 이새는 다윗 왕을 낳았다. 다윗은 우리야의 아내였던 이에게서 솔로몬을 낳고,
- 솔로몬은 르호보암을 낳고, 르호보암은 아비야를 낳고, 아비야는 아삽을 낳고,
- 아삽은 여호사밧을 낳고, 여호사밧은 요람을 낳고, 요람은 웃시야를 낳고,
- 웃시야는 요담을 낳고, 요담은 아하스를 낳고, 아하스는 히스기야를 낳고,
- 히스기야는 므낫세를 낳고, 므낫세는 아모스를 낳고, 아모스는 요시야를 낳고,

- And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
- And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;
- And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;
- And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;
- And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;

- 예루살렘 주민이 바빌론으로 끌려갈 무렵에, 요시야는 여고냐와 그의 형제들을 낳았다.
- 예루살렘 주민이 바빌론으로 끌려간 뒤에, 여고냐는 스알디엘을 낳고, 스알디엘은 스룹바벨을 낳고,
- 스룹바벨은 아비훗을 낳고, 아비훗은 엘리야김을 낳고, 엘리야김은 아소르를 낳고,
- 아소르는 사독을 낳고, 사독은 아킴을 낳고, 아킴은 엘리웃을 낳고,
- 엘리웃은 엘르아살을 낳고, 엘르아살은 맛단을 낳고, 맛단은 야곱을 낳고,

- And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:
- And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;
- And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;
- And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;
- And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;

- 야곱은 마리아의 남편 요셉을 낳았다. 마리아에게서 그리스도라고 하는 예수가 태어나셨다.
- 그러므로 그 모든 대 수는 아브라함으로부터 다윗까지 열네 대요, 다윗으로부터 바빌론에 끌려갈 때까지 열네 대요, 바빌론으로 끌려간 때로부터 그리스도까지 열네 대이다.
- 예수 그리스도의 태어나심은 이러하다. 그의 어머니 마리아가 요셉과 약혼하고 나서, 같이 살기 전에, 마리아가 성령으로 잉태한 사실이 드러났다.
- 마리아의 남편 요셉은 의로운 사람이라서 약혼자에게 부끄러움을 주지 않으려고, 가만히 파혼하려 하였다.
- 요셉이 이렇게 생각하고 있는데, 주님의 천사가 꿈에 그에게 나타나서 말하였다. "다윗의 자손 요셉아, 두려워하지 말고, 마리아를 네 아내로 맞아 들여라. 그 태중에 있는 아기는 성령으로 말미암은 것이다.

- And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
- So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
- Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
- Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
- But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

- 마리아가 아들을 낳을 것이니, 너는 그 이름을 예수라고 하여라. 그가 자기 백성을 그들의 죄에서 구원하실 것이다."
- 이 모든 일이 일어난 것은, 주님께서 예언자를 시켜서 이르시기를,
- "보아라, 동정녀가 잉태하여 아들을 낳을 것이니, 그의 이름을 임마누엘이라고 할 것이다" 하신 말씀을 이루려고 하신 것이다. （임마누엘은 번역하면 '하나님이 우리와 함께 계시다'는 뜻이다.）
- 요셉은 잠에서 깨어 일어나서, 주님의 천사가 말한 대로, 마리아를 아내로 맞아들였다.
- 그러나 아들을 낳을 때까지는 아내와 잠자리를 같이하지 않았다. 아들이 태어나니, 요셉은 그 이름을 예수라고 하였다.

- And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
- Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
- Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
- Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
- And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
