- 하나님, 사슴이 시냇물 바닥에서 물을 찾아 헐떡이듯이, 내 영혼이 주님을 찾아 헐떡입니다.
- 내 영혼이 하나님, 곧 살아계신 하나님을 갈망하니, 내가 언제 하나님께로 나아가 그 얼굴을 뵈올 수 있을까?
- 사람들은 날이면 날마다 나를 보고 "너의 하나님이 어디 있느냐?" 하고 비웃으니, 밤낮으로 흘리는 눈물이 나의 음식이 되었구나.
- 기쁜 감사의 노래 소리와 축제의 함성과 함께 내가 무리들을 하나님의 집으로 인도하면서 그 장막으로 들어가곤 했던 일들을 지금 내가 기억하고 내 가슴이 미어지는구나.
- 내 영혼아, 네가 어찌하여 그렇게 낙심하며, 어찌하여 그렇게 괴로워하느냐? 너는 하나님을 기다려라. 이제 내가, 나의 구원자, 나의 하나님을, 또다시 찬양하련다.

- As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
- My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
- My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?
- When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.
- Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
