- 그 뒤로 여섯 달이 되었을 때에, 하나님께서 천사 가브리엘을 갈릴리 지방의 나사렛 동네로 보내시어,
- 다윗의 가문에 속한 요셉이라는 남자와 약혼한 처녀에게 가게 하셨다. 그 처녀의 이름은 마리아였다.
- 천사가 안으로 들어가서, 마리아에게 말하였다. "기뻐하여라, 은혜를 입은 자야, 주님께서 그대와 함께 하신다."
- 마리아는 그 말을 듣고 몹시 놀라, 도대체 그 인사말이 무슨 뜻일까 하고 궁금히 여겼다.
- 천사가 마리아에게 말하였다. "두려워하지 말아라. 마리아야, 그대는 하나님의 은혜를 입었다.

- And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
- To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
- And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
- And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
- And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

- 보아라, 그대가 잉태하여 아들을 낳을 터이니, 그의 이름을 예수라고 하여라.
- 그는 위대하게 되고, 더없이 높으신 분의 아들이라고 불릴 것이다. 주 하나님께서 그에게 그의 조상 다윗의 왕위를 주실 것이다.
- 그는 영원히 야곱의 집을 다스리고, 그의 나라는 무궁할 것이다."
- 마리아가 천사에게 말하였다. "나는 남자를 알지 못하는데, 어떻게 이런 일이 있겠습니까?"
- 천사가 마리아에게 대답하였다. "성령이 그대에게 임하시고, 더없이 높으신 분의 능력이 그대를 감싸 줄 것이다. 그러므로 태어날 아기는 거룩한 분이요, 하나님의 아들이라고 불릴 것이다.

- And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
- He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
- And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
- Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
- And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

- 보아라, 그대의 친척 엘리사벳도 늙어서 임신하였다. 임신하지 못하는 여자라 불리던 그가 임신한 지 벌써 여섯 달이 되었다.
- 하나님께는 불가능한 일이 없다."
- 마리아가 말하였다. "보십시오, 나는 주님의 여종입니다. 당신의 말씀대로 나에게 이루어지기를 바랍니다." 천사는 마리아에게서 떠나갔다.
- 그 무렵에, 마리아가 일어나, 서둘러 유대 산골에 있는 한 동네로 가서,
- 사가랴의 집에 들어가, 엘리사벳에게 문안하였다.

- And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.
- For with God nothing shall be impossible.
- And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
- And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;
- And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.

- 엘리사벳이 마리아의 인사말을 들었을 때에, 아이가 그의 뱃속에서 뛰놀았다. 엘리사벳이 성령으로 충만해서,
- 큰 소리로 외쳐 말하였다. "그대는 여자들 가운데서 복을 받았고, 그대의 태중의 아이도 복을 받았습니다.
- 내 주님의 어머니께서 내게 오시다니, 이것이 어찌된 일입니까?
- 보십시오. 그대의 인사말이 내 귀에 들어왔을 때에, 내 태중의 아이가 기뻐서 뛰놀았습니다.
- 주님께서 하신 말씀이 이루어질 줄 믿은 여자는 행복합니다."

- And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
- And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
- And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
- For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
- And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

- 그리하여 마리아가 말하였다. "내 영혼이 주님을 찬양하며
- 내 마음이 내 구주 하나님을 좋아함은,
- 그가 이 여종의 비천함을 보살펴 주셨기 때문입니다. 이제부터는 모든 세대가 나를 행복하다 할 것입니다.
- 힘센 분이 나에게 큰 일을 하셨기 때문입니다. 그의 이름은 거룩하고,
- 그의 자비하심은, 그를 두려워하는 사람들에게 대대로 있을 것입니다.

- And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
- And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
- For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
- For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.
- And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.

- 그는 그 팔로 권능을 행하시고 마음이 교만한 사람들을 흩으셨으니,
- 제왕들을 왕좌에서 끌어내리시고 비천한 사람을 높이셨습니다.
- 주린 사람들을 좋은 것으로 배부르게 하시고, 부한 사람들을 빈손으로 떠나보내셨습니다.
- 그는 자비를 기억하셔서, 자기의 종 이스라엘을 도우셨습니다.
- 우리 조상들에게 말씀하신 대로, 그 자비는 아브라함과 그 자손에게 영원토록 있을 것입니다."

- He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
- He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.
- He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.
- He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;
- As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

- 마리아는 엘리사벳과 함께 석 달쯤 있다가 자기 집으로 돌아갔다.

- And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house.
