- 이것이 자신을 믿는 어리석은 자들과 그들의 말을 기뻐하며 따르는 자들의 운명이다.
- 그들은 양처럼 스올로 끌려가고, '죽음'이 그들의 목자가 될 것이다. 아침이 오면 정직한 사람은 그들을 다스릴 것이다. 그들의 아름다운 모습은 시들고, 스올이 그들의 거처가 될 것이다.
- 그러나 하나님은 분명히 내 목숨을 건져 주시며, 스올의 세력에서 나를 건져 주실 것이다. （셀라）
- 어떤 사람이 부자가 되더라도, 그 집의 재산이 늘어나더라도, 너는 스스로 초라해지지 말아라.
- 그도 죽을 때에는 아무것도 가지고 가지 못하며, 그의 재산이 그를 따라 내려가지 못한다.

- This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.
- Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.
- But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.
- Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
- For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.

- 비록 사람이 이 세상에서 흡족하게 살고 성공하여 칭송을 받는다 하여도,
- 그도 마침내 자기 조상에게로 돌아가고 만다. 영원히 빛이 없는 세상으로 돌아가고 만다.
- 사람이 제아무리 위대하다 해도, 죽음을 피할 수는 없으니, 미련한 짐승과 같다.

- Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.
- He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.
- Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.
