여호수아 21:27-22:34

 게르손과 므라리 자손이 얻은 성읍들이 기록되어 있다. 정복 전쟁이 그치고 영토 분배가 종료되자 여호수아는 요단 동편 지파들에게 귀향을 명령했다. 자기의 기업으로 돌아가던 르우벤, 갓, 므낫세 반 지파의 사람들이 요단 강변에 큰 단을 쌓았다. 우상 숭배를 위해 단을 세운 것으로 오해한 이스라엘 백성들은 크게 분노했지만 그들의 해명을 듣고 오해를 풀었다.
  
  게르손·므라리의 성읍(21:27-21:45)    
 
  1. 레위 지파 가문에 속한 게르손 자손에게는, 동쪽 므낫세의 반쪽 지파에서 살인자의 도피성인 바산의 골란과 거기에 딸린 목장과, 브에스드라와 거기에 딸린 목장, 이렇게 두 성읍을 주었다.
  2. 잇사갈 지파에서는 기시온과 거기에 딸린 목장과, 다브랏과 거기에 딸린 목장과,
  3. 야르뭇과 거기에 딸린 목장과, 언간님과 거기에 딸린 목장, 이렇게 네 성읍을 게르손 자손에게 주었다.
  4. 아셀 지파에서는 미살과 거기에 딸린 목장과, 압돈과 거기에 딸린 목장과,
  5. 헬갓과 거기에 딸린 목장과, 르홉과 거기에 딸린 목장, 이렇게 네 성읍을 게르손 자손에게 주었다.
  1. And unto the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the other half tribe of Manasseh they gave Golan in Bashan with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Beeshterah with her suburbs; two cities.
  2. And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishon with her suburbs, Dabareh with her suburbs,
  3. Jarmuth with her suburbs, Engannim with her suburbs; four cities.
  4. And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with her suburbs, Abdon with her suburbs,
  5. Helkath with her suburbs, and Rehob with her suburbs; four cities.
  1. 납달리 지파에서는 살인자의 도피성인 갈릴리의 게데스와 거기에 딸린 목장과, 함못돌과 거기에 딸린 목장과, 가르단과 거기에 딸린 목장, 이렇게 세 성읍을 게르손 자손에게 주었다.
  2. 이와 같이 게르손 사람은 그 가문을 따라 모두 열세 성읍과 그 목장을 얻었다.
  3. 레위 사람 가운데서 나머지 므라리 자손의 가문에게는, 스불론 지파에서 욕느암과 거기에 딸린 목장과, 가르다와 거기에 딸린 목장과,
  4. 딤나와 거기에 딸린 목장과, 나할랄과 거기에 딸린 목장, 이렇게 네 성읍을 주었다.
  5. 르우벤 지파에서는 베셀과 거기에 딸린 목장과, 야하스와 거기에 딸린 목장과,
  1. And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Hammothdor with her suburbs, and Kartan with her suburbs; three cities.
  2. All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities with their suburbs.
  3. And unto the families of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with her suburbs, and Kartah with her suburbs,
  4. Dimnah with her suburbs, Nahalal with her suburbs; four cities.
  5. And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with her suburbs, and Jahazah with her suburbs,
  1. 그데못과 거기에 딸린 목장과, 므바앗과 거기에 딸린 목장, 이렇게 네 성읍을 므라리 자손에게 주었다.
  2. 또한 갓 지파에서는 살인자의 도피성인 길르앗 라못과 거기에 딸린 목장과, 마하나임과 거기에 딸린 목장과,
  3. 헤스본과 거기에 딸린 목장과, 야스엘과 거기에 딸린 목장, 이렇게 모두 네 성읍을 므라리 자손에게 주었다.
  4. 이것이 레위 가문의 나머지 곧 므라리 자손이 그 가문을 따라 받은 성읍으로서, 모두 열두 성읍이 그들의 몫이 되었다.
  5. 이스라엘 자손이 차지한 유산의 땅 가운데서, 레위 사람이 얻은 것은 모두 마흔여덟 개의 성읍과 거기에 딸린 목장이었다.
  1. Kedemoth with her suburbs, and Mephaath with her suburbs; four cities.
  2. And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Mahanaim with her suburbs,
  3. Heshbon with her suburbs, Jazer with her suburbs; four cities in all.
  4. So all the cities for the children of Merari by their families, which were remaining of the families of the Levites, were by their lot twelve cities.
  5. All the cities of the Levites within the possession of the children of Israel were forty and eight cities with their suburbs.
  1. 성읍마다 예외 없이 거기에 딸린 목장이 있었다.
  2. 이와 같이 주님께서 이스라엘 백성의 조상에게 주시겠다고 맹세하신 모든 땅을 이스라엘 백성에게 주셨으므로, 그들은 그 땅을 차지하여 거기에 자리 잡고 살았다.
  3. 주님께서는 그들의 조상에게 맹세하신 대로, 사방에 평화를 주셨다. 또한 주님께서는 그들의 모든 원수를 그들의 손에 넘기셨으므로, 그들의 원수 가운데서 어느 누구도 그들에게 대항하지 못하였다.
  4. 주님께서 이스라엘 사람에게 약속하신 모든 선한 말씀이, 하나도 어긋남이 없이 그대로 다 이루어졌다.
  1. These cities were every one with their suburbs round about them: thus were all these cities.
  2. And the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.
  3. And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.
  4. There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.
 
  요단 동편 지파의 귀향(22:1-22:34)    
 
  1. 그 때에 여호수아가 르우벤 사람과 갓 사람과 므낫세의 반쪽 지파 사람들을 불러 놓고,
  2. 그들에게 일렀다. "당신들은 주님의 종 모세가 당신들에게 명령한 것을 모두 지켰고, 또 나에게 순종하여, 내가 명령한 모든 것을 다 지켰습니다.
  3. 당신들은 오늘까지 이렇게 오랫동안 당신들의 겨레를 저버리지 않고, 주 당신들의 하나님이 명하신 것을 성심껏 다 지켰습니다.
  4. 이제는 주 당신들의 하나님이 약속하신 대로 당신들 겨레에게 안식을 주셨으니, 당신들은 이제 주님의 종 모세가 요단 강 동쪽에서 당신들에게 준, 당신들 소유의 땅 당신들의 거처로 돌아가십시오.
  5. 당신들은 오직 주님의 종 모세가 당신들에게 명령한 계명과 율법을 열심히 좇아서 지키십시오. 주 당신들의 하나님을 사랑하고, 언제나 주님께서 지시하시는 길로 가며, 주님의 명령을 지키며, 주님을 가까이 하고, 당신들의 온 마음과 온 정성을 다하여 주님을 섬기십시오."
  1. Then Joshua called the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh,
  2. And said unto them, Ye have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, and have obeyed my voice in all that I commanded you:
  3. Ye have not left your brethren these many days unto this day, but have kept the charge of the commandment of the LORD your God.
  4. And now the LORD your God hath given rest unto your brethren, as he promised them: therefore now return ye, and get you unto your tents, and unto the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the other side Jordan.
  5. But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
  1. 여호수아가 그들을 축복하여 보내니, 그들이 자기들의 장막으로 돌아갔다.
  2. 동쪽의 므낫세 반쪽 지파에게는 이미 모세가 요단 강 동쪽에서 바산에 있는 땅을 주었고, 그 나머지 서쪽의 므낫세 반쪽 지파에게는, 여호수아가 다른 지파들에게 준 것과 같이, 요단 강 서쪽에서 땅을 주었다. 여호수아는 그들을 그들의 거처로 보내며 축복하였다.
  3. "당신들은, 많은 재산과 아주 많은 가축과 금과 은과 동과 철과 아주 많은 의복을 가지고, 당신들의 거처로 돌아가십시오. 당신들의 원수들에게서 빼앗은 전리품을 다른 지파들과 더불어서 나누어 가지십시오."
  4. 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 요단 강 동쪽에 정착한 므낫세의 반쪽 지파가 그들의 소유지로 돌아갔다. 그들은 가나안 땅의 실로에서 이스라엘 자손을 떠나서, 주님께서 모세에게 내리신 명대로, 그들이 얻어 소유하게 된 땅 곧 길르앗 땅으로 돌아갔다.
  5. 그들이 가나안 땅의 요단 강 가까이에 있는 그릴롯에 이르렀다. 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 동쪽의 므낫세 반쪽 지파가 요단 강 서쪽 지역의 강가에 단을 쌓았는데, 그 단은 보기에 아주 큰 단이었다.
  1. So Joshua blessed them, and sent them away: and they went unto their tents.
  2. Now to the one half of the tribe of Manasseh Moses had given possession in Bashan: but unto the other half thereof gave Joshua among their brethren on this side Jordan westward. And when Joshua sent them away also unto their tents, then he blessed them,
  3. And he spake unto them, saying, Return with much riches unto your tents, and with very much cattle, with silver, and with gold, and with brass, and with iron, and with very much raiment: divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.
  4. And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh returned, and departed from the children of Israel out of Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go unto the country of Gilead, to the land of their possession, whereof they were possessed, according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
  5. And when they came unto the borders of Jordan, that are in the land of Canaan, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh built there an altar by Jordan, a great altar to see to.
  1. 이스라엘 자손이 이 소식을 듣고 말하였다. "르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 동쪽의 므낫세 반쪽 지파가 우리들이 있는 요단 강 서쪽 지역의 강 가까운 그릴롯에 단을 쌓았다."
  2. 이스라엘 자손이 이 말을 듣고, 온 회중이 동쪽 지파들에게 대항하여 싸우려고 실로에 모였다.
  3. 이스라엘 자손은, 엘르아살의 아들인 비느하스 제사장을, 길르앗 땅에 있는 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 동쪽의 므낫세 반쪽 지파에게 보냈다.
  4. 요단 강 서쪽에 자리 잡은 이스라엘 각 지파에서 한 사람씩 열 명의 대표가 비느하스와 함께 갔다. 그들은 각기 이스라엘의 천천만만 백성의 가문을 대표하는 사람들이었다.
  5. 그들이 길르앗 땅으로 가서 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 동쪽의 므낫세 반쪽 지파에게 말하였다.
  1. And the children of Israel heard say, Behold, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar over against the land of Canaan, in the borders of Jordan, at the passage of the children of Israel.
  2. And when the children of Israel heard of it, the whole congregation of the children of Israel gathered themselves together at Shiloh, to go up to war against them.
  3. And the children of Israel sent unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, into the land of Gilead, Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest,
  4. And with him ten princes, of each chief house a prince throughout all the tribes of Israel; and each one was an head of the house of their fathers among the thousands of Israel.
  5. And they came unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, unto the land of Gilead, and they spake with them, saying,
  1. "주님의 온 회중이 하는 말이오. 당신들이 어찌하여 이스라엘의 하나님께 이런 악한 일을 하였소? 어찌하여 당신들이 오늘날 주님을 떠나서, 제멋대로 단을 쌓아 주님을 거역하였소?
  2. 우리가 브올에서 지은 범죄 때문에 주님의 회중에 재앙이 내렸고, 우리는 아직도 그 죄를 다 씻지 못하고 있소. 그것으로도 부족하단 말이오?
  3. 당신들은 오늘에 와서 주님을 따르지 않고 등을 돌렸소. 오늘 당신들이 주님을 거역하였으니, 내일은 주님께서 온 이스라엘의 회중에게 진노하실 것이오.
  4. 만일 당신들의 소유지가 깨끗하지 못하거든, 주님의 성막이 있는 주님의 소유지로 건너와서, 우리의 소유를 나누어 가지시오. 주 우리 하나님의 단 외에 당신들이 함부로 단을 쌓음으로써, 주님을 거역하거나 우리를 거역하지 마시오.
  5. 세라의 아들 아간이, 주님께 전멸시켜 바칠 물건에 대하여 큰 죄를 지어서, 이스라엘의 온 회중 위에 진노가 내리지 않았소? 그의 죄 때문에 죽은 사람이 어디 그 한 사람뿐이오?"
  1. Thus saith the whole congregation of the LORD, What trespass is this that ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the LORD, in that ye have builded you an altar, that ye might rebel this day against the LORD?
  2. Is the iniquity of Peor too little for us, from which we are not cleansed until this day, although there was a plague in the congregation of the LORD,
  3. But that ye must turn away this day from following the LORD? and it will be, seeing ye rebel to day against the LORD, that to morrow he will be wroth with the whole congregation of Israel.
  4. Notwithstanding, if the land of your possession be unclean, then pass ye over unto the land of the possession of the LORD, wherein the LORD's tabernacle dwelleth, and take possession among us: but rebel not against the LORD, nor rebel against us, in building you an altar beside the altar of the LORD our God.
  5. Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? and that man perished not alone in his iniquity.
  1. 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 동쪽의 므낫세 반쪽 지파가 이스라엘의 천천만만 백성의 가문 대표들에게 대답하였다.
  2. "주 하나님은 전능하십니다! 주 하나님은 전능하십니다! 우리가 왜 그렇게 하였는지, 주님은 아십니다. 같은 이스라엘 겨레인 여러분도 알아 주시기를 바랍니다. 우리가 한 이 일이 주님을 반역하거나, 주님을 거역하는 일이었다면, 주님께서 우리를 이렇게 살려 두지 않으셨을 것입니다.
  3. 우리는 주님을 따르지 않고 등을 돌리려고 이 단을 쌓은 것이 아닙니다. 또 드리는 이 단을 번제와 곡식제사와 화목제사를 드리는 제단으로 사용하지는 않을 것입니다. 우리가 만일 이 단을 제단으로 쓸 목적으로 쌓았다면 주님께서 벌써 우리를 벌하셨을 것입니다.
  4. 그러나 사실은 그렇지 않습니다. 우리가 여기에 단을 쌓은 것은, 훗날 당신들의 자손이 우리의 자손에게 '너희가 주 이스라엘의 하나님과 무슨 상관이 있느냐?
  5. 너희 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손아! 주님께서 우리와 너희 사이에 요단 강을 경계선으로 삼으셨으니, 너희는 주님에게서 받을 몫이 없다' 하고 말하면서, 당신들의 자손이 우리의 자손을 막아서, 주님을 경외하지 못하게 할까 염려가 되어서,
  1. Then the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh answered, and said unto the heads of the thousands of Israel,
  2. The LORD God of gods, the LORD God of gods, he knoweth, and Israel he shall know; if it be in rebellion, or if in transgression against the LORD, (save us not this day,)
  3. That we have built us an altar to turn from following the LORD, or if to offer thereon burnt offering or meat offering, or if to offer peace offerings thereon, let the LORD himself require it;
  4. And if we have not rather done it for fear of this thing, saying, In time to come your children might speak unto our children, saying, What have ye to do with the LORD God of Israel?
  5. For the LORD hath made Jordan a border between us and you, ye children of Reuben and children of Gad; ye have no part in the LORD: so shall your children make our children cease from fearing the LORD.
  1. 우리가 이 단을 쌓은 것입니다. 이것은 번제물을 드리거나 다른 어떤 제물을 드리려고 쌓은 것이 아닙니다.
  2. 오히려 이 단은, 우리와 당신들 사이에, 그리고 우리의 자손 사이에, 우리의 믿음을 증명하려고 세운 것입니다. 우리도 번제물과 다른 제물과 화목제물을 가지고 주님을 진정으로 섬기는 사람들이라는 것을 증명하려는 것입니다. 그래서 먼 훗날에, 당신들의 자손이 우리의 자손에게 '너희는 주님에게서 받을 몫이 없다'고 말하지 못하게 하려는 것입니다.
  3. 우리가 말한 대로, 훗날 당신들의 자손이 우리에게나 우리 자손에게 그같이 말한다면 '보아라, 이것은 우리 조상이 만든 주님의 제단의 모형일 뿐이다. 이것은 우리가 여기에서 번제물을 드리거나, 다른 제물을 드리려고 만든 것이 아니다. 이것은 다만 우리와 당신들 사이의 관계를 증명하려는 것일 뿐이다' 하고 대답할 수 있을 것입니다.
  4. 우리는, 번제나 곡식제사를 아무데서나 함부로 드리는 일이나, 다른 제물을 바칠 불법적인 단을 만듦으로써 주님을 거역하거나 배반하는 일은, 결코 하지 않을 것입니다. 우리는 주 우리 하나님의 성막 앞에 있는 그 합법적인 단 외에는 어떤 제단도 쌓지 않을 것입니다."
  5. 제사장 비느하스와 회중의 대표자들 곧 그와 함께 간 이스라엘의 천천만만 백성의 가문 대표들이, 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 동쪽의 므낫세 자손의 그 말을 듣고 기뻐하였다.
  1. Therefore we said, Let us now prepare to build us an altar, not for burnt offering, nor for sacrifice:
  2. But that it may be a witness between us, and you, and our generations after us, that we might do the service of the LORD before him with our burnt offerings, and with our sacrifices, and with our peace offerings; that your children may not say to our children in time to come, Ye have no part in the LORD.
  3. Therefore said we, that it shall be, when they should so say to us or to our generations in time to come, that we may say again, Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD, which our fathers made, not for burnt offerings, nor for sacrifices; but it is a witness between us and you.
  4. God forbid that we should rebel against the LORD, and turn this day from following the LORD, to build an altar for burnt offerings, for meat offerings, or for sacrifices, beside the altar of the LORD our God that is before his tabernacle.
  5. And when Phinehas the priest, and the princes of the congregation and heads of the thousands of Israel which were with him, heard the words that the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the children of Manasseh spake, it pleased them.
  1. 제사장 엘르아살의 아들인 비느하스가 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 동쪽의 므낫세 자손에게 말하였다. "당신들이 이번 일로 주님께 반역한 것이 아니기 때문에, 우리는 오늘 주님께서 우리 가운데 계심을 알았소. 이제 당신들은 이스라엘 자손을 주님의 손에서 건져 내었소."
  2. 제사장 엘르아살의 아들인 비느하스와 백성의 대표들이 길르앗 땅에 있는 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손을 만나 본 다음에, 가나안 땅으로 돌아와서, 이스라엘 자손에게 그대로 보고하였다.
  3. 이스라엘 자손은 그 보고를 듣고 기뻐하면서, 이스라엘 자손의 하나님을 찬송하였다. 그래서 '르우벤 자손과 갓 자손이 거주하는 땅으로 쳐올라가서 그들을 멸하자' 하는 말을 다시는 하지 않았다.
  4. 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손은 이 단을 일컬어 '주님께서 하나님이심을 우리 모두에게 증명함'이라고 하였다.
  1. And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh, This day we perceive that the LORD is among us, because ye have not committed this trespass against the LORD: now ye have delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of the LORD.
  2. And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, returned from the children of Reuben, and from the children of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, unto the land of Canaan, to the children of Israel, and brought them word again.
  3. And the thing pleased the children of Israel; and the children of Israel blessed God, and did not intend to go up against them in battle, to destroy the land wherein the children of Reuben and Gad dwelt.
  4. And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad called the altar Ed: for it shall be a witness between us that the LORD is God.
