- 내 백성아, 내 교훈을 들으며, 내 말에 귀를 기울여라.
- 내가 입을 열어서 비유로 말하며, 숨겨진 옛 비밀을 밝혀 주겠다.
- 이것은 우리가 들어서 이미 아는 바요, 우리 조상들이 우리에게 전하여 준 것이다.
- 우리가 이것을 숨기지 않고 우리 자손에게 전하여 줄 것이니, 곧 주님의 영광스러운 행적과 능력과 그가 이루신 놀라운 일들을 미래의 세대에게 전하여 줄 것이다.
- 주님께서 야곱에게 언약의 규례를 세우시고 이스라엘에게 법을 세우실 때에, 자손에게 잘 가르치라고, 우리 조상에게 명하신 것이다.

- Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
- I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
- Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
- We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.
- For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:

- 미래에 태어날 자손에게도 대대로 일러주어, 그들도 그들의 자손에게 대대손손 전하게 하셨다.
- 그들이 희망을 하나님에게 두어서, 하나님이 하신 일들을 잊지 않고, 그 계명을 지키게 하셨다.
- 조상처럼, 반역하며 고집만 부리는 세대가 되지 말며, 마음이 견고하지 못한 세대, 하나님을 믿지 아니하는 세대가 되지 말라고 하셨다.

- That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
- That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:
- And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.
