열왕기하 18:13-19:37

 북이스라엘을 정복한 앗수르의 산헤립은 여세를 몰아 남유다를 침공하여 유다 백성들을 조롱하며 이스라엘의 하나님을 모독하였다. 위기에 봉착한 히스기야는 이스라엘의 구원을 위해 먼저 하나님의 전을 찾고, 이사야에게 기도를 부탁했다. 이사야는 하나님의 응답으로 앗수르의 심판과 유다의 회복을 예언하였고, 그 예언대로 앗수르 군은 파멸되고 산헤립은 죽음을 당했다.
  
  앗수르의 유다 침공(18:13-18:37)    
 
  1. 히스기야 왕 제 십사년에 앗시리아의 산헤립 왕이 올라와서, 요새화된 유다의 모든 성읍을 공격하여 점령하였다.
  2. 그래서 유다의 히스기야 왕은 라기스에 와 있는 앗시리아 왕에게 전령을 보내어 말하였다. "우리가 잘못하였습니다. 철수만 해주시면, 요구하시는 것은 무엇이나 드리겠습니다." 그러자 앗시리아 왕은 유다의 히스기야 왕에게 은 삼백 달란트와 금 삼십 달란트를 요구하였다.
  3. 그리하여 히스기야는 주님의 성전과 왕궁의 보물 창고에 있는 은을 있는 대로 다 내주었다.
  4. 그 때에 유다의 히스기야 왕은, 주님의 성전 문과 기둥에 자신이 직접 입힌 금을 모두 벗겨서, 앗시리아 왕에게 주었다.
  5. 그런데도 앗시리아 왕은 다르단과 랍사리스와 랍사게에게 많은 병력을 주어서, 라기스에서부터 예루살렘으로 올려보내어 히스기야 왕을 치게 하였다. 그들은 예루살렘으로 올라가서, 윗 저수지의 수로 곁에 있는 빨래터로 가는 큰 길 가에 포진하였다.
  1. Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.
  2. And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
  3. And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house.
  4. At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
  5. And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller's field.
  1. 그들이 왕을 부르자, 힐기야의 아들 엘리야김 궁내대신과 셉나 서기관과 아삽의 아들 요아 역사기록관이 그들을 맞으러 나갔다.
  2. 랍사게가 그들에게 말하였다. "히스기야에게 전하여라. 위대한 왕이신 앗시리아의 임금님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. '네가 무엇을 믿고 이렇게 자신만만하냐?
  3. 전쟁을 할 전술도 없고, 군사력도 없으면서 입으로만 전쟁을 할 수 있다고 생각하느냐? 네가 지금 누구를 믿고 나에게 반역하느냐?
  4. 그러니 너는 부러진 갈대 지팡이 같은 이집트를 의지한다고 하지만, 그것을 믿고 붙드는 자는 손만 찔리게 될 것이다. 이집트의 바로 왕을 신뢰하는 자는 누구나 이와 같이 될 것이다.
  5. 너희는 또 나에게, 주 너희의 하나님을 의지한다고 말하겠지마는, 유다와 예루살렘에 사는 백성에게, 예루살렘에 있는 이 제단 앞에서만 경배하여야 한다고 하면서, 산당과 제단들을 모두 헐어 버린 것이, 바로 너 히스기야가 아니냐!'
  1. And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.
  2. And Rabshakeh said unto them, Speak ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
  3. Thou sayest, (but they are but vain words,) I have counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?
  4. Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.
  5. But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?
  1. 이제 나의 상전이신 앗시리아의 임금님과 겨루어 보아라. 내가 너에게 말 이천 필을 준다고 한들, 네가 그 위에 탈 사람을 내놓을 수 있겠느냐?
  2. 그러니 네가 어찌 내 상전의 부하들 가운데서 하찮은 병사 하나라도 물리칠 수 있겠느냐? 그러면서도 병거와 기병의 지원을 받으려고 이집트를 의존하느냐?
  3. 이제 생각하여 보아라. 내가 이 곳을 쳐서 멸망시키려고 오면서, 어찌 너희가 섬기는 주님의 허락도 받지 않고 왔겠느냐? 너희의 주님께서 내게 말씀하시기를, 그 땅을 치러 올라가서, 그 곳을 멸망시키라고, 나에게 친히 이르셨다."
  4. 힐기야의 아들 엘리야김과 셉나와 요아가 랍사게에게 말하였다. "성벽 위에서 백성들이 듣고 있으니, 우리에게 유다 말로 말씀하지 말아 주십시오. 이 종들에게 시리아 말로 말씀하여 주십시오. 우리가 시리아 말을 알아듣습니다."
  5. 그러나 랍사게가 그들에게 대답하였다. "나의 상전께서, 나를 보내셔서, 이 말을 하게 하신 것은, 다만 너희의 상전과 너희만 들으라고 하신 것이 아니다. 너희와 함께, 자기가 눈 대변을 먹고 자기가 본 소변을 마실, 성벽 위에 앉아 있는 저 백성에게도 이 말을 전하라고 나를 보내셨다."
  1. Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will deliver thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.
  2. How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
  3. Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
  4. Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and talk not with us in the Jews' language in the ears of the people that are on the wall.
  5. But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?
  1. 랍사게가 일어나서 유다 말로 크게 외쳤다. "너희는 위대한 왕이신 앗시리아의 임금님께서 하시는 말씀을 들어라!
  2. 임금님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. '히스기야에게 속지 말아라. 그는 너희를 내 손에서 구원해 낼 수 없다.
  3. 히스기야가 너희를 속여서, 너희의 주가 너희를 구원할 것이며, 이 도성을 앗시리아 왕의 손에 절대로 넘겨 주지 않으실 것이라고 말하면서, 너희로 주님을 의지하게 하려 하여도, 너희는 그 말을 믿지 말아라.
  4. 히스기야의 말을 듣지 말아라.' 앗시리아의 임금님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. '나와 평화조약을 맺고, 나에게로 나아오너라. 그리하면 너희는 각각 자기의 포도나무와 자기의 무화과나무에서 난 열매를 따 먹게 될 것이며, 각기 자기가 판 샘에서 물을 마시게 될 것이다.
  5. 내가 다시 와서 너희의 땅과 같은 땅, 곧 곡식과 새 포도주가 나는 땅, 빵과 포도원이 있는 땅, 올리브 기름과 꿀이 흐르는 땅으로 너희를 데려가서, 거기에서 살게 하고, 죽이지 않겠다. 그러므로 히스기야의 말을 듣지 말아라. 너희의 주가 너희를 구원할 것이라고 너희를 설득하여도, 히스기야의 말을 듣지 말아라.
  1. Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and spake, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria:
  2. Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:
  3. Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
  4. Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me, and then eat ye every man of his own vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his cistern:
  5. Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.
  1. 뭇 민족의 신들 가운데서 어느 신이 앗시리아 왕의 손에서 자기 땅을 구원한 일이 있느냐?
  2. 하맛과 아르밧의 신들은 어디에 있으며, 스발와임과 헤나와 아와의 신들은 또 어디에 있느냐? 그들이 사마리아를 내 손에서 건져 내었느냐?
  3. 여러 민족의 신들 가운데서, 그 어느 신이 내 손에서 자기 땅을 구원한 일이 있기에, 주 너희의 하나님이 내 손에서 예루살렘을 구원해 낸다는 말이냐?'"
  4. 백성은 한 마디도 대답하지 않고 조용히 있었다. 그에게 아무런 대답도 하지 말라는 왕의 명령이 있었기 때문이다.
  5. 힐기야의 아들 엘리야김 궁내대신과 셉나 서기관과 아삽의 아들 요아 역사기록관이, 울분을 참지 못하여 옷을 찢으며 히스기야에게 돌아와서, 랍사게의 말을 그대로 전하였다.
  1. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
  2. Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand?
  3. Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?
  4. But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.
  5. Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
 
  이사야의 예언(19:1-19:37)    
 
  1. 히스기야 왕도 이 말을 듣고, 울분을 참지 못하여 자기의 옷을 찢고, 베옷을 두르고, 주님의 성전으로 들어갔다.
  2. 그는 엘리야김 궁내대신과 셉나 서기관과 원로 제사장들에게 베옷을 두르게 한 뒤에, 이 사람들을 아모스의 아들 이사야 예언자에게 보냈다.
  3. 그들이 이사야에게 가서 히스기야 왕의 말씀이라고 하면서, 이렇게 말하였다. "오늘은 환난과 징계와 굴욕의 날입니다. 아이를 낳으려 하나, 낳을 힘이 없는 산모와도 같습니다.
  4. 주 예언자님의 하나님께서는, 랍사게가 한 말을 다 들으셨을 것입니다. 랍사게는, 살아 계신 하나님을 모욕하려고, 그의 상전인 앗시리아 왕이 보낸 자입니다. 주 예언자님의 하나님께서 그가 하는 말을 들으셨으니, 그를 심판하실 것입니다. 예언자님께서는 여기에 남아 있는 우리들이 구원받도록 기도하여 주십시오."
  5. 히스기야 왕의 신하들이 이사야에게 가서 이렇게 말하니,
  1. And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.
  2. And he sent Eliakim, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.
  3. And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and blasphemy; for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.
  4. It may be the LORD thy God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God; and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that are left.
  5. So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.
  1. 이사야가 그들에게 대답하였다. "당신들의 왕에게 이렇게 전하십시오. 주님께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. '앗시리아 왕의 부하들이 나를 모욕하는 말을 네가 들었다고 하여, 그렇게 두려워하지 말아라.
  2. 내가 그에게 한 영을 내려 보내어, 그가 뜬소문을 듣고 자기의 나라로 돌아가게 할 것이며, 거기에서 칼에 맞아 죽게 할 것이다.'"
  3. 랍사게는 자기의 왕이 라기스를 떠났다는 소식을 듣고 후퇴하여, 립나를 치고 있는 앗시리아 왕과 합세하였다.
  4. 그 때에 앗시리아 왕은 에티오피아의 디르하가 왕이 자기와 싸우려고 출전하였다는 말을 들었다. 그리하여 그는 히스기야에게 다시 사신들을 보내어, 이렇게 말하였다.
  5. "너희는 유다의 히스기야 왕에게 이렇게 전하여라. '네가 의지하는 네 하나님이 예루살렘을 앗시리아 왕의 손에 넘어 가게 하지 않을 것이라고 해도, 너는 그 말에 속지 말아라.
  1. And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
  2. Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.
  3. So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.
  4. And when he heard say of Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, Behold, he is come out to fight against thee: he sent messengers again unto Hezekiah, saying,
  5. Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
  1. 너는 앗시리아의 왕들이 다른 모든 나라를 멸하려고 어떻게 하였는지를 잘 들었을 것이다. 그런데 너만은 구원을 받을 수 있을 것이라고 믿느냐?
  2. 나의 선왕들이 멸망시킨 고산과 하란과 레셉과, 그리고 들라살에 있는 에덴 족을 그 민족들의 신들이 구하여 낼 수 있었느냐?
  3. 하맛의 왕, 아르밧의 왕, 스발와임 도성의 왕, 그리고 헤나와 이와의 왕들이 모두 어디로 갔느냐?'"
  4. 히스기야는 사신들에게서 이 편지를 받아 읽었다. 그리고는 주님의 성전으로 올라가서, 주님 앞에 편지를 펴 놓은 뒤에,
  5. 주님께 기도하였다. "그룹들 위에 계시는 주 이스라엘의 하나님, 주님만이 이 세상의 모든 나라를 다스리시는 오직 한 분뿐인 하나님이시며, 하늘과 땅을 만드신 분이십니다.
  1. Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly: and shalt thou be delivered?
  2. Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed; as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Thelasar?
  3. Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivah?
  4. And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.
  5. And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.
  1. 주님, 귀를 기울여 들어 주십시오. 주님, 눈여겨 보아 주십시오. 살아 계신 하나님을 모욕하는 말을 전한 저 산헤립의 망언을 잊지 마십시오.
  2. 주님, 참으로 앗시리아의 왕들이 여러 나라와 그 땅을 마구 짓밟아 버렸습니다.
  3. 여러 민족이 믿는 신들을 모두 불에 던져 태웠습니다. 물론 그것들은 참 신이 아니라, 다만 나무와 돌로 만든 것이었기에, 앗시리아 왕들에게 멸망당할 수밖에 없었습니다마는,
  4. 주 우리의 하나님, 이제 그의 손에서 우리를 구원하여 주셔서, 세상의 모든 나라가, 오직 주님만이 홀로 주 하나님이심을 알게 하여 주십시오."
  5. 아모스의 아들 이사야가 히스기야에게 사람을 보내어, 이렇게 말하였다. "주 이스라엘의 하나님께서는, 임금님께서 앗시리아의 산헤립 왕의 일 때문에 주님께 올린 그 기도를 주님께서 들으셨다고 말씀하시면서,
  1. LORD, bow down thine ear, and hear: open, LORD, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the living God.
  2. Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands,
  3. And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.
  4. Now therefore, O LORD our God, I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD God, even thou only.
  5. Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard.
  1. 앗시리아 왕을 두고 다음과 같이 말씀하셨습니다. '처녀 딸 시온이 오히려 너 산헤립을 경멸하고 비웃을 것이다. 딸 예루살렘이 오히려 물러나는 네 뒷모습을 보면서 머리를 흔들 것이다.
  2. 네가 감히 누구를 모욕하고 멸시하였느냐? 네가 누구에게 큰소리를 쳤느냐? 나 이스라엘의 거룩한 자에게 감히 네 눈을 부릅떴느냐?
  3. 네가 전령들을 보내어 나 주를 조롱하며 말하기를, 내가 수많은 병거를 몰아 높은 산 이 꼭대기에서 저 꼭대기까지 레바논의 막다른 곳까지 깊숙히 들어가서 키 큰 백향목과 아름다운 잣나무를 베어 버리고, 울창한 숲 속 깊숙히 들어가서 그 끝까지 들어갔고,
  4. 그리고는 땅을 파서 다른 나라의 물을 마시며, 발바닥으로 밟기만 하고서도 이집트의 모든 강물을 말렸다고 하였다.
  5. 그러나 산헤립아, 너는 듣지 못하였느냐? 그런 일은 이미 내가 오래 전에 결정한 것들이고, 이미 내가 아득한 옛날부터 계획한 것들이다. 이제 내가 그것을 이루었을 뿐이다. 그래서 네가 견고한 요새들을 돌무더기로 만들고,
  1. This is the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.
  2. Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.
  3. By thy messengers thou hast reproached the LORD, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots I am come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down the tall cedar trees thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the lodgings of his borders, and into the forest of his Carmel.
  4. I have digged and drunk strange waters, and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of besieged places.
  5. Hast thou not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient times that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste fenced cities into ruinous heaps.
  1. 여러 민족의 간담을 서늘하게 하고, 공포에 질리게 하고, 부끄럽게 하였다. 민족들은 초목과 같고 자라기도 전에 말라 버리는 풀포기나 지붕 위의 잡초와 같았다.
  2. 나는 다 알고 있다. 네가 앉고 서는 것, 네가 나가고 들어오는 것, 네가 내게 분노를 품고 있다는 것도, 나는 모두 다 알고 있다.
  3. 네가 내게 품고 있는 분노와 오만을, 이미 오래 전에 내가 직접 들었기에, 내가 네 코에 쇠 갈고리를 꿰고, 네 입에 재갈을 물려, 네가 왔던 그 길로 너를 되돌아가게 하겠다.
  4. 히스기야야, 너에게 증거를 보이겠다. 백성이 금년에 들에서 저절로 자라난 곡식을 먹고, 내년에도 들에서 저절로 자라난 곡식을 먹을 것이다. 그러나 내후년에는 백성이 씨를 뿌리고 곡식을 거둘 것이며, 포도밭을 가꾸어서 그 열매를 먹게 될 것이다.
  5. 유다 사람들 가운데서 환난을 피하여 살아 남은 사람들이 다시 땅 아래로 깊이 뿌리를 내리고, 위로 열매를 맺을 것이다.
  1. Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the house tops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.
  2. But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.
  3. Because thy rage against me and thy tumult is come up into mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
  4. And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such things as grow of themselves, and in the second year that which springeth of the same; and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruits thereof.
  5. And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.
  1. 살아 남은 사람들이 예루살렘에서부터 나오고, 환난을 피한 사람들이 시온 산에서부터 나올 것이다. 나 주의 열심이 이 일을 이룰 것이다.'
  2. 그러므로 앗시리아의 왕을 두고, 주님께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. '그는 이 도성에 들어오지 못하며, 이리로 활 한 번 쏴 보지도 못할 것이다. 방패를 앞세워 접근하지도 못하며, 성을 공격할 흙 언덕을 쌓지도 못할 것이다.
  3. 그는 왔던 길로 되돌아간다. 이 도성 안으로는 결코 들어오지 못한다. 이것은 나 주의 말이다.
  4. 나는 내 명성을 지키기 위해서라도 이 도성을 보호하여 구원하고, 내 종 다윗을 보아서라도 그렇게 하겠다.'"
  5. 그 날 밤에 주님의 천사가 나아가서, 앗시리아 군의 진영에서 십팔만 오천 명을 쳐죽였다. 다음날 아침이 밝았을 때에 그들은 모두 주검으로 발견되었다.
  1. For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.
  2. Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.
  3. By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.
