- 산다는 것이 이렇게 괴로우니, 나는 이제 원통함을 참지 않고 다 털어놓고, 내 영혼의 괴로움을 다 말하겠다.
- 내가 하나님께 아뢰겠다. 나를 죄인 취급하지 마십시오. 무슨 일로 나 같은 자와 다투시는지 알려 주십시오.
- 주님께서 손수 만드신 이 몸은 학대하고 멸시하시면서도, 악인이 세운 계획은 잘만 되게 하시니 그것이 주님께 무슨 유익이라도 됩니까?
- 주님의 눈이 살과 피를 가진 사람의 눈이기도 합니까? 주님께서도 매사를 사람이 보듯이 보신단 말입니까?
- 주님의 날도 사람이 누리는 날처럼 짧기라도 하단 말입니까? 주님의 햇수가 사람이 누리는 햇수와 같이 덧없기라도 하단 말입니까?

- My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint upon myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.
- I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; shew me wherefore thou contendest with me.
- Is it good unto thee that thou shouldest oppress, that thou shouldest despise the work of thine hands, and shine upon the counsel of the wicked?
- Hast thou eyes of flesh? or seest thou as man seeth?
- Are thy days as the days of man? are thy years as man's days,

- 그렇지 않다면야, 어찌하여 주님께서는 기어이 내 허물을 찾아내려고 하시며, 내 죄를 들추어내려고 하십니까?
- 내게 죄가 없다는 것과, 주님의 손에서 나를 빼낼 사람이 없다는 것은, 주님께서도 아시지 않습니까?
- 주님께서 손수 나를 빚으시고 지으셨는데, 어찌하여 이제 와서, 나에게 등을 돌리시고, 나를 멸망시키려고 하십니까?
- 주님께서는, 진흙을 빚듯이 몸소 이 몸을 지으셨음을 기억해 주십시오. 어찌하여 주님께서는 나를 티끌로 되돌아가게 하십니까?
- 주님께서 내 아버지에게 힘을 주셔서, 나를 낳게 하시고, 어머니가 나를 품에 안고 젖을 물리게 하셨습니다.

- That thou enquirest after mine iniquity, and searchest after my sin?
- Thou knowest that I am not wicked; and there is none that can deliver out of thine hand.
- Thine hands have made me and fashioned me together round about; yet thou dost destroy me.
- Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and wilt thou bring me into dust again?
- Hast thou not poured me out as milk, and curdled me like cheese?

- 주님께서 살과 가죽으로 나를 입히시며, 뼈와 근육을 엮어서, 내 몸을 만드셨습니다.
- 주님께서 나에게 생명과 사랑을 주시고, 나를 돌보셔서, 내 숨결까지 지켜 주셨습니다.
- 그러나 지금 생각해 보니, 주님께서는 늘 나를 해치실 생각을 몰래 품고 계셨습니다.
- 주님께서는, 내가 죄를 짓나 안 짓나 지켜 보고 계셨으며, 내가 죄를 짓기라도 하면 용서하지 않으실 작정을 하고 계셨습니다.
- 내가 죄를 짓기만 하면 주님께서는 가차없이 내게 고통을 주시지만, 내가 올바른 일을 한다고 해서 주님께서 나를 믿어 주시지는 않으셨습니다. 그러니 나는 수치를 가득 덮어쓰고서, 고통을 몸으로 겪고 있습니다.

- Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh, and hast fenced me with bones and sinews.
- Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.
- And these things hast thou hid in thine heart: I know that this is with thee.
- If I sin, then thou markest me, and thou wilt not acquit me from mine iniquity.
- If I be wicked, woe unto me; and if I be righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see thou mine affliction;

- 내 일이 잘 되기라도 하면, 주님께서는 사나운 사자처럼 나를 덮치시고, 기적을 일으키면서까지 내게 상처를 주려고 하셨습니다.
- 주님께서는 번갈아서, 내게 불리한 증인들을 세우시며, 내게 노여움을 키우시고, 나를 공격할 계획을 세우셨습니다.
- 주님께서 나를 이렇게 할 것이라면 왜 나를 모태에서 살아 나오게 하셨습니까? 차라리 모태에서 죽어서 사람들의 눈에 띄지나 않았더라면, 좋지 않았겠습니까?
- 생기지도 않은 사람처럼, 모태에서 곧바로 무덤으로 내려갔더라면, 좋았을 것입니다.
- 내가 살 날도 이제 얼마 남지 않았습니다. 나를 좀 혼자 있게 내버려 두십시오. 내게 남은 이 기간만이라도, 내가 잠시라도 쉴 수 있게 해주십시오.

- For it increaseth. Thou huntest me as a fierce lion: and again thou shewest thyself marvellous upon me.
- Thou renewest thy witnesses against me, and increasest thine indignation upon me; changes and war are against me.
- Wherefore then hast thou brought me forth out of the womb? Oh that I had given up the ghost, and no eye had seen me!
- I should have been as though I had not been; I should have been carried from the womb to the grave.
- Are not my days few? cease then, and let me alone, that I may take comfort a little,

- 어둡고 캄캄한 땅으로 내려가면, 다시는 돌아오지 못합니다. 그리로 가기 전에 잠시 쉬게 해주십시오.
- 그 땅은 흑암처럼 캄캄하고, 죽음의 그늘이 드리워져서 아무런 질서도 없고, 빛이 있다 해도 흑암과 같을 뿐입니다.

- Before I go whence I shall not return, even to the land of darkness and the shadow of death;
- A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shadow of death, without any order, and where the light is as darkness.
