- 형제자매 여러분, 우리는 하나님께서 마케도니아 여러 교회에 베풀어주신 은혜를 여러분에게 알리려고 합니다.
- 그들은 큰 환난의 시련을 겪으면서도 기쁨이 넘치고, 극심한 가난에 쪼들리면서도 넉넉한 마음으로 남에게 베풀었습니다.
- 내가 증언합니다. 그들은 힘이 닿는 대로 구제하였을 뿐만 아니라, 오히려 힘에 지나도록 자원해서 하였습니다.
- 그들은 성도들을 구제하는 특권에 동참하게 해 달라고, 우리에게 간절히 청하였습니다.
- 그들은, 우리가 기대한 이상으로, 하나님의 뜻을 따라서 먼저 자신들을 주님께 바치고, 우리에게 바쳤습니다.

- Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;
- How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
- For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;
- Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.
- And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.

- 그래서 우리는 디도에게 청하기를, 그가 이미 시작한 대로 이 은혜로운 일을 여러분 가운데서 완수하라고 하였습니다.
- 여러분은 모든 일에 있어서 뛰어납니다. 곧 믿음에서, 말솜씨에서, 지식에서, 열성에서, 우리와 여러분 사이의 사랑에서 그러합니다. 여러분은 이 은혜로운 활동에서도 뛰어나야 할 것입니다.
- 나는 이 말을 명령으로 하는 것이 아닙니다. 다른 사람들의 열성을 말함으로써, 여러분의 사랑도 진실하다는 것을 확인하려고 하는 것뿐입니다.
- 여러분은 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜를 알고 있습니다. 그리스도께서는 부요하나, 여러분을 위해서 가난하게 되셨습니다. 그것은 그의 가난으로 여러분을 부요하게 하시려는 것입니다.
- 이 일에 한 가지 의견을 말씀드리겠습니다. 이 일은 여러분에게 유익합니다. 여러분은 지난 해부터 이미 이 일을 실행하기 시작했을 뿐 아니라, 그렇게 하기를 원하기도 했습니다.

- Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also.
- Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.
- I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.
- For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
- And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.

- 그러므로 이제는 그 일을 완성하십시오. 여러분이 자원해서 시작할 때에 보여준 그 열성에 어울리게, 여러분이 가지고 있는 것으로 그 일을 마무리지어야 합니다.
- 기쁜 마음으로 각자의 형편에 맞게 바치면, 하나님께서는 그것을 기쁘게 받으실 것입니다. 하나님께서는 없는 것까지 바치는 것을 바라지 않으십니다.
- 나는 다른 사람들을 편안하게 하고, 그 대신에 여러분을 괴롭게 하려는 것이 아니라, 평형을 이루려고 하는 것입니다.
- 지금 여러분의 넉넉한 살림이 그들의 궁핍을 채워주면, 그들의 살림이 넉넉해질 때에, 그들이 여러분의 궁핍을 채워 줄 수도 있을 것입니다. 이렇게 하여 평형이 이루어지는 것입니다.
- 이것은, 성경에 기록하기를 "많이 거둔 사람도 남지 아니하고, 적게 거둔 사람도 모자라지 아니하였다" 한 것과 같습니다.

- Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.
- For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.
- For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened:
- But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:
- As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.
