- 지혜가 길거리에서 부르며, 광장에서 그 소리를 높이며,
- 시끄러운 길 머리에서 외치며, 성문 어귀와 성 안에서 말을 전한다.
- "어수룩한 사람들아, 언제까지 어수룩한 것을 좋아하려느냐? 비웃는 사람들아, 언제까지 비웃기를 즐기려느냐? 미련한 사람들아, 언제까지 지식을 미워하려느냐?
- 너희는 내 책망을 듣고 돌아서거라. 보아라, 내가 내 영을 너희에게 보여 주고, 내 말을 깨닫게 해주겠다.
- 그러나 너희는, 내가 불러도 들으려고 하지 않고, 내가 손을 내밀어도 거들떠보려고도 하지 않았다.

- Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
- She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
- How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
- Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
- Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

- 도리어 너희가 내 모든 충고를 무시하며 내 책망을 받아들이지 않았으니,
- 너희가 재앙을 만날 때에, 내가 비웃을 것이며, 너희에게 두려운 일이 닥칠 때에, 내가 조롱하겠다.
- 공포가 광풍처럼 너희를 덮치며, 재앙이 폭풍처럼 너희에게 밀려오며, 고난과 고통이 너희에게 밀어닥칠 때에,
- 그 때에야 나를 애타게 부르겠지만, 나는 대답하지 않겠고, 나를 애써 찾을 것이지만, 나를 만나지 못할 것이다.
- 이것은 너희가 깨닫기를 싫어하며, 주님 경외하기를 즐거워하지 않으며,

- But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
- I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
- When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
- Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
- For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

- 내 충고를 받아들이지 않으며, 내 모든 책망을 업신여긴 탓이다.
- 그러므로 그런 사람은 제가 한 일의 열매를 먹으며, 제 꾀에 배부를 것이다.
- 어수룩한 사람은 내게 등을 돌리고 살다가 자기를 죽이며, 미련한 사람은 안일하게 살다가 자기를 멸망시키지만,
- 오직 내 말을 듣는 사람은 안심하며 살겠고, 재앙을 두려워하지 않고 평안히 살 것이다."

- They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
- Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
- For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
- But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
