- 나는, 나의 집 창가에서 창살문으로 내다보다가,
- 어수룩한 젊은이들 가운데, 지혜 없는 젊은이가 있는 것을 보았다.
- 그는 거리를 지나 골목 모퉁이로 가까이 가서, 그 여자의 집으로 가는 길로 발걸음을 옮겼다.
- 저녁이 되어 땅거미가 지고, 밤이 되어 어두워진 때였다.
- 한 여자가 창녀 옷을 입고서, 교활한 마음을 품고 그에게 다가갔다.

- For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,
- And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
- Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,
- In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:
- And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.

- 그 여자는 마구 떠들며, 예의 없이 굴며, 발이 집에 머물러 있지를 못한다.
- 때로는 이 거리에서, 때로는 저 광장에서, 길목마다 몸을 숨기고 있다가,
- 그 젊은이를 와락 붙잡고 입을 맞추며, 뻔뻔스러운 얼굴로 그에게 말하였다.
- "오늘 나는 화목제를 드려서, 서원한 것을 실행하였습니다.
- 그래서 나는 당신을 맞으러 나왔고, 당신을 애타게 찾다가, 이렇게 만나게 되었습니다.

- (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:
- Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)
- So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,
- I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.
- Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.

- 내 침대에는 요도 깔아 놓았고, 이집트에서 만든 무늬 있는 이불도 펴놓았습니다.
- 누울 자리에는 몰약과 침향과 육계향을 뿌려 두었습니다.
- 자, 어서 가서 아침이 되도록 한껏 사랑에 빠지고, 서로 사랑하면서 즐깁시다.
- 남편도 먼 여행길을 떠나서 집에 없습니다.
- 돈주머니를 가지고 갔으니, 보름달이 뜰 때라야 집에 돌아올 겁니다."

- I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.
- I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
- Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.
- For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:
- He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.

- 이렇게 여러 가지 달콤한 말로 유혹하고 호리는 말로 꾀니,
- 그는 선뜻 이 여자의 뒤를 따라 나섰다. 마치 도살장으로 끌려가는 소와도 같고, 올가미에 채이러 가는 어리석은 사람과도 같다.
- 마치 자기 목숨을 잃는 줄도 모르고 그물 속으로 쏜살같이 날아드는 새와 같으니, 마침내 화살이 그의 간을 꿰뚫을 것이다.
- 아이들아, 이제 너희는 나의 말을 잘 들어라. 내가 하는 말을 명심하여라.
- 네 마음이 그 여자가 가는 길로 기울지 않게 하고, 그 여자가 가는 길로 빠져 들지 않게 하여라.

- With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.
- He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;
- Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.
- Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.
- Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.

- 그 여자에게 상처를 입고 쓰러진 사람이 많고, 그 여자 때문에 죽은 남자도 헤아릴 수 없이 많다.
- 그런 여자의 집은 스올로 트인 길이며, 죽음의 안방으로 내려가는 길이다.

- For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.
- Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.
