- 악인은 틀림없이 벌을 받지만, 의인의 자손은 반드시 구원을 받는다.
- 아름다운 여인이 삼가지 아니하는 것은 돼지코에 금고리 격이다.
- 의인이 바라는 것은 좋은 일뿐이지만, 악인이 기대할 것은 진노뿐이다.
- 남에게 나누어 주는데도 더욱 부유해지는 사람이 있는가 하면, 마땅히 쓸 것까지 아끼는데도 가난해지는 사람이 있다.
- 남에게 베풀기를 좋아하는 사람이 부유해 지고, 남에게 마실 물을 주면, 자신도 갈증을 면한다.

- Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
- As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.
- The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
- There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
- The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

- 곡식을 저장하여 두기만 하는 사람은 백성에게 저주를 받고, 그것을 내어 파는 사람에게는 복이 돌아온다.
- 좋은 일을 애써 찾으면 은총을 받지만, 나쁜 일을 애써 추구하면 나쁜 것을 되받는다.
- 자기의 재산만을 믿는 사람은 넘어지지만, 의인은 푸른 나뭇잎처럼 번성한다.
- 자기 집을 해치는 사람은 바람만 물려받을 것이요, 어리석은 사람은 마음이 지혜로운 사람의 종이 될 것이다.
- 의인이 받는 열매는 생명의 나무요, 폭력을 쓰는 사람은 생명을 잃는다.

- He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
- He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.
- He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.
- He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.
- The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
