예레미야애가

  본서는 유다가 바벨론에 의해 멸망하고 백성들은 포로로 잡혀 간 암울한 상황을 슬퍼하는 노래이다. 다섯 편의 시로 구성되어 있는 본서는 각 장이 독립적으로 하나의 시를 이루고 있다. 예레미야는 예루살렘의 멸망을 보고 슬퍼하며, 하나님의 공의로우신 심판으로 말미암아 예루살렘이 황폐화되었음을 묘사하고 있다. 그리고 백성들에게 하나님께 희망을 둘 것을 상기시키고, 하나님께서 그의 백성들을 회복시켜 주시기를 간절히 기도 드리고 있다.

 

 

예레미야애가 1:1-2:22

 예레미야는 처참하게 멸망하여 황폐해진 예루살렘의 참상을 보면서 매우 슬퍼하며 절규하였다. 그리고 예루살렘의 구원을 위해 회개의 기도를 드렸으며, 예루살렘을 침공한 바벨론 군대들의 죄악상을 드러내며 하나님의 보응을 간구하였다. 나아가서 예레미야는 하나님의 공의의 심판으로 인해 고난과 조롱을 당하는 백성들에게 회개를 촉구하였다.
  
  예루살렘 성을 향한 애가(1:1-1:22)    
 
  1. 아, 슬프다. 예전에는 사람들로 그렇게 붐비더니, 이제는 이 도성이 어찌 이리 적막한가! 예전에는 뭇 나라 가운데 으뜸이더니 이제는 과부의 신세가 되고, 예전에는 모든 나라 가운데 여왕이더니 이제는 종의 신세가 되었구나.
  2. 이 도성이 여인처럼 밤새도록 서러워 통곡하니, 뺨에 눈물 마를 날 없고, 예전에 이 여인을 사랑하던 남자 가운데 그를 위로하여 주는 남자 하나도 없으니, 친구는 모두 그를 배반하여 원수가 되었는가!
  3. 유다가 고통과 고된 노역에 시달리더니, 이제는 사로잡혀 뭇 나라에 흩어져서 쉴 곳을 찾지 못하는데, 뒤쫓는 모든 자들이 막다른 골목에서 그를 덮쳐 잡는구나.
  4. 시온으로 가는 길이 이렇게 쓸쓸하다니! 명절이 되었는데도 순례자가 없고, 시온 성으로 들어가는 모든 문에도 인적이 끊어지니, 제사장들은 탄식하고, 처녀들은 슬픔에 잠겼구나. 시온이 이렇게 괴로움을 겪는구나.
  5. 대적들이 우두머리가 되고, 원수들이 번영한다. 허물이 많다고, 주님께서 그에게 고통을 주셨다. 아이들마저 원수들이 보는 앞에서 사로잡혀 끌려갔다.
  1. How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people! how is she become as a widow! she that was great among the nations, and princess among the provinces, how is she become tributary!
  2. She weepeth sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks: among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her: all her friends have dealt treacherously with her, they are become her enemies.
  3. Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude: she dwelleth among the heathen, she findeth no rest: all her persecutors overtook her between the straits.
  4. The ways of Zion do mourn, because none come to the solemn feasts: all her gates are desolate: her priests sigh, her virgins are afflicted, and she is in bitterness.
  5. Her adversaries are the chief, her enemies prosper; for the LORD hath afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions: her children are gone into captivity before the enemy.
  1. 도성 시온이 누리던 모든 영광이 사라지고, 지도자들은 뜯을 풀을 찾지 못한 사슴처럼 되어서, 뒤쫓는 자들에게 힘 한 번 못쓴 채 달아나고 말았구나.
  2. 예루살렘이 고통과 고난을 겪는 날에, 지난 날의 그 모든 찬란함을 생각하는구나. 백성이 대적의 손에 잡혀도 돕는 사람이 없고, 대적은 그가 망하는 것을 보며 좋아한다.
  3. 예루살렘이 그렇게 죄를 짓더니, 마침내 조롱거리가 되었구나. 그를 떠받들던 자가 모두 그 벌거벗은 모습을 보고서 그를 업신여기니, 이제 한숨지으며 얼굴을 들지 못한다.
  4. 그의 더러움이 치마 속에 있으나, 자기의 앞날을 생각하지 않는다. 그렇게 비참해져도 아무도 위로하는 이가 없다. "주님, 원수들이 우쭐댑니다. 나의 이 고통을 살펴 주십시오.
  5. 대적들이 손을 뻗어 보물을 빼앗습니다. 이방인이 주님의 공회에 들어오지 못하도록 주님께서 이미 금하셨으나, 그들이 성소에 침입하는 것을 예루살렘이 보았습니다.
  1. And from the daughter of Zion all her beauty is departed: her princes are become like harts that find no pasture, and they are gone without strength before the pursuer.
  2. Jerusalem remembered in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, and none did help her: the adversaries saw her, and did mock at her sabbaths.
  3. Jerusalem hath grievously sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honoured her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness: yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward.
  4. Her filthiness is in her skirts; she remembereth not her last end; therefore she came down wonderfully: she had no comforter. O LORD, behold my affliction: for the enemy hath magnified himself.
  5. The adversary hath spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things: for she hath seen that the heathen entered into her sanctuary, whom thou didst command that they should not enter into thy congregation.
  1. 예루살렘 온 백성이 탄식하며, 먹거리를 찾습니다. 목숨을 이으려고, 패물을 주고서 먹거리를 바꿉니다. 주님, 이 비천한 신세를 살펴 주십시오."
  2. 길 가는 모든 나그네들이여, 이 일이 그대들과는 관계가 없는가? 주님께서 분노하신 날에 내리신 이 슬픔, 내가 겪은 이러한 슬픔이, 어디에 또 있단 말인가!
  3. 주님께서 저 높은 곳에서 불을 보내셔서 내 뼈 속 깊이 들어가게 하시고, 내 발 앞에 덫을 놓아서 걸려 넘어지게 하셨으며, 나를 폐인으로 만드셔서 온종일 힘이 없게 하셨다.
  4. 주님께서 내가 지은 죄를 묶고 얽어서 멍에를 만드시고, 그것을 내 목에 얹어서 힘을 쓸 수 없게 하셨다. 주님께서 나를 내가 당할 수 없는 사람의 손에 넘기셨다.
  5. 주님께서 내 청년들을 무찌르시려고 내게서 용사들을 모두 몰아내시고, 나를 칠 군대를 일으키셨다. 주님께서 처녀 유다를 술틀에 넣고 짓밟으셨다.
  1. All her people sigh, they seek bread; they have given their pleasant things for meat to relieve the soul: see, O LORD, and consider; for I am become vile.
  2. Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, wherewith the LORD hath afflicted me in the day of his fierce anger.
  3. From above hath he sent fire into my bones, and it prevaileth against them: he hath spread a net for my feet, he hath turned me back: he hath made me desolate and faint all the day.
  4. The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand: they are wreathed, and come up upon my neck: he hath made my strength to fall, the LORD hath delivered me into their hands, from whom I am not able to rise up.
  5. The LORD hath trodden under foot all my mighty men in the midst of me: he hath called an assembly against me to crush my young men: the LORD hath trodden the virgin, the daughter of Judah, as in a winepress.
  1. 이 일로 내가 우니, 눈에서 눈물이 물처럼 흐른다. 내게 생기를 되돌려 주고 위로하여 줄 이가 가까이에 없다. 원수들이 우리를 이기니, 나의 아들딸들이 처량하게 되었다.
  2. 시온이 손을 들어 빌었으나, 그를 위로하는 사람 아무도 없구나. 주님께서 사방에 있는 적들을 시켜서 야곱을 치게 하셨으니, 사람들은 예루살렘을 더러운 성으로 여기는구나.
  3. 주님께서 하신 일은 옳으나, 나는 주님의 말씀을 거역하였다. 모든 백성아, 들어라. 이 고통을 보아라. 처녀 총각들이 사로잡혀서 끌려갔다.
  4. 내가 애인들을 불렀으나 그들은 나를 배신하였고, 제사장들과 장로들은 목숨을 이으려고 먹을 것을 찾다가, 성 안에서 기절하였다.
  5. "주님, 나의 절망을 살펴 주십시오. 애간장이 다 녹습니다. 내가 주님을 얼마나 자주 거역하였던가를 생각하면, 심장이 터질 것 같이 아픕니다. 거리에는 칼의 살육이 있고, 집안에는 사망이 있습니다.
  1. For these things I weep; mine eye, mine eye runneth down with water, because the comforter that should relieve my soul is far from me: my children are desolate, because the enemy prevailed.
  2. Zion spreadeth forth her hands, and there is none to comfort her: the LORD hath commanded concerning Jacob, that his adversaries should be round about him: Jerusalem is as a menstruous woman among them.
  3. The LORD is righteous; for I have rebelled against his commandment: hear, I pray you, all people, and behold my sorrow: my virgins and my young men are gone into captivity.
  4. I called for my lovers, but they deceived me: my priests and mine elders gave up the ghost in the city, while they sought their meat to relieve their souls.
  5. Behold, O LORD; for I am in distress: my bowels are troubled; mine heart is turned within me; for I have grievously rebelled: abroad the sword bereaveth, at home there is as death.
  1. 사람들은 나의 신음을 듣지만, 아무도 나를 위로하지 않습니다. 내 모든 원수들이, 내가 재앙을 받는다는 소식을 듣고, 이것이 바로 주님께서 하신 일임을 알고서 즐거워합니다. 주님께서 선포하신 그 날이 이르게 해주셔서, 그들이 나와 같은 꼴이 되게 해주십시오.
  2. 그들의 모든 사악함이 주님 앞에 드러나게 해주시고, 그들을 엄하게 다스려 주십시오. 주님께서 내 모든 죄를 다스리신 것처럼, 그들의 죄도 다스려 주십시오. 끝없는 이 한숨소리, 심장이 다 멎을 듯 합니다."
  1. They have heard that I sigh: there is none to comfort me: all mine enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that thou hast done it: thou wilt bring the day that thou hast called, and they shall be like unto me.
  2. Let all their wickedness come before thee; and do unto them, as thou hast done unto me for all my transgressions: for my sighs are many, and my heart is faint.
 
  주의 진노(2:1-2:22)    
 
  1. 아, 슬프다. 주님께서 어찌 이렇게 진노하셔서 도성 시온의 앞길을 캄캄하게 하셨는가? 어찌하여 이스라엘의 영광을 하늘에서 땅으로 던지셨는가? 진노하신 날에, 주님께서 성전조차도 기억하지 않으시다니!
  2. 주님께서 노하셔서, 야곱의 모든 보금자리를 사정없이 불사르시고, 유다의 도성 성채들을 무너뜨려 땅에 엎으시고, 나라와 통치자들을 욕보이셨다.
  3. 주님께서 타오르는 진노로 이스라엘의 힘을 모두 꺾으시더니, 원수 앞에서 이스라엘을 지키시는 오른손을 거두시고, 주위의 모든 것을 삼키는 불꽃처럼 야곱을 불사르셨다.
  4. 우리가 원수나 되는 것처럼 활을 당기시고, 대적이나 되는 것처럼 오른손을 들고 나서시더니, 보기에 건장한 사람을 다 죽이시고, 도성 시온의 장막에 불같은 노여움을 쏟으셨다.
  5. 주님께서 이스라엘의 원수라도 되신 것처럼, 그를 삼키시고, 모든 궁을 삼키시고 성채를 부수시어, 유다의 도성에 신음과 애통을 더하셨다.
  1. How hath the LORD covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in his anger, and cast down from heaven unto the earth the beauty of Israel, and remembered not his footstool in the day of his anger!
  2. The LORD hath swallowed up all the habitations of Jacob, and hath not pitied: he hath thrown down in his wrath the strong holds of the daughter of Judah; he hath brought them down to the ground: he hath polluted the kingdom and the princes thereof.
  3. He hath cut off in his fierce anger all the horn of Israel: he hath drawn back his right hand from before the enemy, and he burned against Jacob like a flaming fire, which devoureth round about.
  4. He hath bent his bow like an enemy: he stood with his right hand as an adversary, and slew all that were pleasant to the eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of Zion: he poured out his fury like fire.
  5. The LORD was as an enemy: he hath swallowed up Israel, he hath swallowed up all her palaces: he hath destroyed his strong holds, and hath increased in the daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation.
  1. 주님께서는 성막을 들에 있는 원두막처럼 부수시고, 회막도 그렇게 허무셨다. 주님께서 시온에서 명절과 안식일을 없애셨다. 진노하셔서 왕과 제사장을 멸시하셨다.
  2. 주님께서 당신의 제단도 버리시고, 당신의 성소도 역겨워하셨다. 궁전 성벽을 원수들의 손에 넘기시니, 그들이 주님의 성전에서 마치 잔칫날처럼 함성을 지른다.
  3. 주님께서 도성 시온의 성벽을 헐기로 작정하시고, 다림줄을 대시고, 성벽이 무너질 때까지 손을 떼지 않으셨다. 주님께서 망대와 성벽들을 통곡하게 하시며 한꺼번에 허무시니,
  4. 성문들이 땅바닥으로 무너져 내렸다. 주님께서 빗장들을 꺾으셨다. 왕과 지도자들은 뭇 민족 가운데로 흩어지고, 율법이 없어지고, 예언자들도 주님께 계시를 받지 못한다.
  5. 도성 시온의 장로들은 땅에 주저앉아 할 말을 잃고, 머리 위에 흙먼지를 뒤집어쓰고, 허리에 굵은 베를 둘렀다. 예루살렘의 처녀들은 땅에 머리를 떨군다.
  1. And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of a garden: he hath destroyed his places of the assembly: the LORD hath caused the solemn feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion, and hath despised in the indignation of his anger the king and the priest.
  2. The LORD hath cast off his altar, he hath abhorred his sanctuary, he hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have made a noise in the house of the LORD, as in the day of a solemn feast.
  3. The LORD hath purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion: he hath stretched out a line, he hath not withdrawn his hand from destroying: therefore he made the rampart and the wall to lament; they languished together.
  4. Her gates are sunk into the ground; he hath destroyed and broken her bars: her king and her princes are among the Gentiles: the law is no more; her prophets also find no vision from the LORD.
  5. The elders of the daughter of Zion sit upon the ground, and keep silence: they have cast up dust upon their heads; they have girded themselves with sackcloth: the virgins of Jerusalem hang down their heads to the ground.
  1. 내 백성의 도성이 망하였다. 아이들과 젖먹이들이 성 안 길거리에서 기절하니, 나의 눈이 눈물로 상하고, 창자가 들끓으며, 간이 땅에 쏟아진다.
  2. 아이들이 어머니의 품에서 숨져 가면서, 먹을 것 마실 것을 찾으며 달라고 조르다가, 성 안 길거리에서 부상당한 사람처럼 쓰러진다.
  3. 도성 예루살렘아, 너를 무엇에 견주며, 너를 무엇에 맞대랴? 도성 시온아, 너를 무엇에 비겨서 위로하랴? 네 상처가 바다처럼 큰데, 누가 너를 낫게 할 수 있겠느냐?
  4. 예언자들은 네게 보여 준다고 하면서 거짓되고 헛된 환상을 보고, 네 죄를 분명히 밝혀 주지 않아서 너를 사로잡혀 가게 하였으며, 거짓되고 허황된 예언만을 네게 하였다.
  5. 지나가는 모든 나그네들이 너를 보고서 손뼉을 치며, 도성 예루살렘을 보고서 머리를 내저으며 빈정거리며, "이것이 바로 그들이 '더없이 아름다운 성이요 온 누리의 기쁨이라' 하던 그 성인가?" 하고 비웃는다.
  1. Mine eyes do fail with tears, my bowels are troubled, my liver is poured upon the earth, for the destruction of the daughter of my people; because the children and the sucklings swoon in the streets of the city.
  2. They say to their mothers, Where is corn and wine? when they swooned as the wounded in the streets of the city, when their soul was poured out into their mothers' bosom.
  3. What thing shall I take to witness for thee? what thing shall I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? what shall I equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? for thy breach is great like the sea: who can heal thee?
  4. Thy prophets have seen vain and foolish things for thee: and they have not discovered thine iniquity, to turn away thy captivity; but have seen for thee false burdens and causes of banishment.
  5. All that pass by clap their hands at thee; they hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, Is this the city that men call The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth?
  1. 네 모든 원수들이 이를 갈며, 너를 보고서 입을 열어 빈정거린다. "우리가 그를 삼켰다. 이것이 바로 우리들이 기다리던 그 날이 아닌가! 우리가 이제 드디어 그것을 보았구나."
  2. 주님께서는 뜻하신 것을 이루셨다. 주님께서는 오래 전에 선포하신 심판의 말씀을 다 이루셨다. 주님께서 너를 사정없이 부수시고, 네 원수가 너를 이기고 즐거워하게 하시며, 네 대적이 한껏 뽐내게 하셨다.
  3. 도성 시온의 성벽아, 큰소리로 주님께 부르짖어라. 밤낮으로 눈물을 강물처럼 흘려라. 쉬지 말고 울부짖어라. 네 눈에서 눈물이 그치게 하지 말아라.
  4. 온 밤 내내 시간을 알릴 때마다 일어나 부르짖어라. 물을 쏟아 놓듯, 주님 앞에 네 마음을 쏟아 놓아라. 거리 어귀어귀에서, 굶주려 쓰러진 네 아이들을 살려 달라고, 그분에게 손을 들어 빌어라.
  5. "주님, 살펴 주십시오. 주님께서 예전에 사람을 이렇게 다루신 적이 있으십니까? 어떤 여자가 사랑스럽게 기른 자식을 잡아먹는단 말입니까? 어찌 주님의 성전에서, 제사장과 예언자가 맞아 죽을 수 있습니까?
  1. All thine enemies have opened their mouth against thee: they hiss and gnash the teeth: they say, We have swallowed her up: certainly this is the day that we looked for; we have found, we have seen it.
  2. The LORD hath done that which he had devised; he hath fulfilled his word that he had commanded in the days of old: he hath thrown down, and hath not pitied: and he hath caused thine enemy to rejoice over thee, he hath set up the horn of thine adversaries.
  3. Their heart cried unto the LORD, O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night: give thyself no rest; let not the apple of thine eye cease.
  4. Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out thine heart like water before the face of the LORD: lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that faint for hunger in the top of every street.
  5. Behold, O LORD, and consider to whom thou hast done this. Shall the women eat their fruit, and children of a span long? shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?
  1. 젊은이와 늙은이가 길바닥에 쓰러지고, 처녀와 총각이 칼에 맞아 넘어집니다. 주님께서 분노하신 날에, 그들을 사정없이 베어 죽이셨습니다.
  2. 주님께서는 내가 두려워하는 것을, 마치 명절에 사람을 초대하듯, 사방에서 불러들이셨습니다. 그래서 주님께서 분노하신 날에, 피하거나 살아 남은 사람이 아무도 없습니다. 내가 사랑으로 고이 기른 것들을 내 원수들이 모두 죽였습니다."
  1. The young and the old lie on the ground in the streets: my virgins and my young men are fallen by the sword; thou hast slain them in the day of thine anger; thou hast killed, and not pitied.
  2. Thou hast called as in a solemn day my terrors round about, so that in the day of the LORD's anger none escaped nor remained: those that I have swaddled and brought up hath mine enemy consumed.
