- 악인은 선한 사람 앞에 엎드리고, 불의한 사람은 의인의 문 앞에 엎드린다.
- 가난한 사람은 이웃에게도 미움을 받지만, 부자에게는 많은 친구가 따른다.

- The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.

- 이웃을 멸시하는 사람은 죄를 짓는 사람이지만, 가난한 사람에게 은혜를 베푸는 사람은 복이 있는 사람이다.
- 악을 꾀하는 사람은 길을 잘못 가는 것이나, 선을 계획하는 사람은 인자와 진리를 얻는다.
- 모든 수고에는 이득이 있는 법이지만, 말이 많으면 가난해질 뿐이다.
- 지혜는 지혜 있는 사람의 면류관이지만 어리석음은 미련한 사람의 화환이다.
- 증인이 진실을 말하면 남의 생명을 건지지만, 증인이 위증을 하면 배신자가 된다.
