- 부자의 재산은 그의 견고한 성이 되니, 그는 그것을 아무도 못 오를 높은 성벽처럼 여긴다.
- 사람의 마음이 오만하면 멸망이 뒤따르지만, 겸손하면 영광이 뒤따른다.
- 다 들어 보지도 않고 대답하는 것은, 수모를 받기에 알맞은 어리석은 짓이다.
- 사람이 정신으로 병을 이길 수 있다지만, 그 정신이 꺾인다면, 누가 그를 일으킬 수 있겠느냐?

- 제비를 뽑으면 다툼이 끝나고, 강한 사람들 사이의 논쟁이 판가름 난다.
- 노엽게 한 친척과 가까워지기는 견고한 성을 함락시키는 것보다 어려우니, 그 다툼은 마치 꺾이지 않는 성문의 빗장과 같다.
