- 거짓 증인은 벌을 피할 수 없고, 거짓말을 하는 사람은 망하고 만다.
- 미련한 사람이 사치스럽게 사는 것도 마땅하지 않은데, 하물며 종이 고관들을 다스리는 것이랴?
- 노하기를 더디 하는 것은 사람의 슬기요, 허물을 덮어 주는 것은 그의 영광이다.
- 왕의 분노는 사자가 소리지르는 것과 같고, 그의 은혜는 풀 위에 내리는 이슬과 같다.

- A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.
- Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

- 미련한 아들은 아버지에게 파멸을 가져다 주고, 다투기를 잘하는 아내는 새는 천장에서 떨어지는 물과 같다.
- 집과 재물은 조상에게서 물려받은 유산이지만, 슬기로운 아내는 주님께서 주신다.
- 게으른 사람은 깊은 잠에 빠지고, 나태한 사람은 굶주릴 것이다.
- 계명을 지키는 사람은 제 목숨을 지키지만, 자기 행실을 주의하지 않는 사람은 죽는다.
- 가난한 사람에게 은혜를 베푸는 것은 주님께 꾸어드리는 것이니, 주님께서 그 선행을 넉넉하게 갚아 주신다.
