- 지혜로운 사람은 용사들이 지키는 성에 올라가서, 그들이 든든히 믿는 요새도 무너뜨린다.
- 입과 혀를 지킬 수 있는 사람은, 역경 속에서도 자기의 목숨을 지킬 수 있다.
- 교만하고 건방진 사람을 오만한 자라고 하는데, 그런 사람은 우쭐대며 무례하게 행동한다.
- 게으른 사람의 욕심이 스스로를 죽이기까지 하는 것은, 어떠한 일도 제 손으로 하기를 싫어하기 때문이다.

- He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
- A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
- Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

- 악인은 온종일 탐하기만 하지만, 의인은 아끼지 않고 나누어 준다.
- 악인의 제물이 역겨운 것이라면, 악한 의도로 바치는 것이야 더욱 그렇지 않겠는가?
- 위증을 하는 사람의 증언은 사라지지만, 사실대로 말하는 사람의 증언은 채택된다.
- 악한 사람은 얼굴이 뻔뻔스러우나, 정직한 사람은 자기의 행실을 잘 살핀다.
- 그 어떠한 지혜도, 명철도, 계략도, 주님을 대항하지 못한다.
