- "에브라임이 말만 하면 모두 떨었다. 온 이스라엘이 그렇게 에브라임을 우러러보았는데, 바알 신을 섬겨 죄를 짓고 말았으므로, 이제 망하고 말았다.
- 그런데도 그들은 거듭 죄를 짓고 있다. 은을 녹여 거푸집에 부어서 우상들을 만든다. 재주껏 만든 은 신상들, 그것들은 모두 세공업자들이 만든 것인데도, 그들은, 이 신상 앞에 제물을 바치라고 하면서, 송아지 신상들에게 입을 맞춘다.
- 그러므로 그들은 아침 안개처럼 되고, 이른 새벽에 사라지는 이슬처럼 될 것이다. 타작 마당에서 바람에 날려 나가는 쭉정이처럼 되고, 굴뚝에서 나오는 연기처럼 될 것이다.
- 그러나 나는, 너희가 이집트 땅에 살 때로부터 주 너희의 하나님이다. 그 때에 너희가 아는 하나님은 나밖에 없고, 나 말고는 다른 구원자가 없었다.
- 나는 저 광야에서, 그 메마른 땅에서, 너희를 먹이고 살렸다.

- When Ephraim spake trembling, he exalted himself in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died.
- And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.
- Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud and as the early dew that passeth away, as the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the floor, and as the smoke out of the chimney.
- Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.
- I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.

- 그들을 잘 먹였더니 먹는 대로 배가 불렀고, 배가 부를수록 마음이 교만해지더니, 마침내 나를 잊었다.
- 그래서 내가 그들에게 사자처럼 되고, 이제는 표범처럼 되어서, 길목을 지키겠다.
- 새끼 빼앗긴 암곰처럼 그들에게 달려들어, 염통을 갈기갈기 찢을 것이다. 암사자처럼, 그 자리에서 그들을 뜯어먹을 것이다. 들짐승들이 그들을 남김없이 찢어 먹을 것이다.
- 이스라엘아, 네가 나를 대적하니, 너를 돕는 자를 대적하니, 너는 이제 망했다.
- 왕과 대신들을 세워 달라고 조르더니, 도대체, 너의 왕이 지금 어디에 있느냐? 너를 구원하라고 하여라. 대신들이 지금 어디에 있느냐? 너의 모든 성읍에서 샅샅이 찾아보아라. 너를 궁지에서 건져 달라고 하여라.

- According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.
- Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe them:
- I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.
- O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help.
- I will be thy king: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?

- 내가 홧김에 너에게 왕을 주었으나, 분을 참을 수 없어서 너의 왕을 없애 버렸다.
- 에브라임의 허물을 적은 문서를 모두 모았고, 죄상을 적은 기록을 모두 보관하고 있다.
- 에브라임이 다시 태어나는 진통을 겪고 있다. 그러나 그는, 때가 되었는데도 태를 열고 나올 줄 모르는 미련한 아들과도 같다.
- 내가 그들을 스올의 권세에서 속량하며 내가 그들을 사망에서 구속하겠다. 사망아, 네 재앙이 어디 있느냐? 스올아, 네 멸망이 어디 있느냐? 이제는 내게 동정심 같은 것은 없다.
- 이스라엘이 비록 형제들 가운데서 번성하여도, 사막에서 동풍이 불어오게 할 터이니, 주의 바람이 불면 샘과 우물이 모두 말라 버리고, 귀중한 보물상자들도 모두 빼앗길 것이다.

- I gave thee a king in mine anger, and took him away in my wrath.
- The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is hid.
- The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for he should not stay long in the place of the breaking forth of children.
- I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.
- Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels.

- 사마리아가 저의 하나님에게 반항하였으니, 이제는 그 죄값을 치를 수밖에 없다. 사람들은 칼에 찔려 쓰러지고, 어린 아이들은 박살 나고, 아이 밴 여인들은 배가 찢길 것이다."

- Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.
