- 이웃에게 아첨하는 사람은 그의 발 앞에 그물을 치는 사람이다.

- 악인이 범죄하는 것은 그 자신에게 올무를 씌우는 것이지만, 의인은 노래하며 즐거워한다.
- 의인은 가난한 사람의 사정을 잘 알지만, 악인은 가난한 사람의 사정쯤은 못 본 체한다.
- 거만한 사람은 성읍을 시끄럽게 하지만, 지혜로운 사람은 분노를 가라앉힌다.
- 지혜로운 사람이 어리석은 사람을 걸어서 소송하면, 어리석은 사람이 폭언과 야유로 맞서므로, 지혜로운 사람은 안심할 수 없다.
