창세기 25:1-26:22

 아브라함은 175세에 죽어 막벨라 굴에 장사되었다. 리브가는 쌍동이를 낳았는데, 장자 에서는 자신의 장자권을 동생 야곱에게 팥죽 한 그릇에 팔고 말았다. 그랄에 거하는 이삭에게 하나님께서 복을 주셔서 거부가 되게 하셨다. 이를 시기하는 블레셋 사람들과의 마찰을 피하여 이삭은 브엘세바로 장막을 옮겼다.
  
  야곱과 에서의 출생(25:1-25:34)    
 
  1. 아브라함이 다시 아내를 맞아들였는데, 그의 이름은 그두라이다.
  2. 그와 아브라함 사이에서 시므란과 욕산과 므단과 미디안과 이스박과 수아가 태어났다.
  3. 욕산은 스바와 드단을 낳았다. 드단의 자손에게서 앗수르 사람과 르두시 사람과 르움미 사람이 갈라져 나왔다.
  4. 미디안의 아들은 에바와 에벨과 하녹과 아비다와 엘다아인데, 이들은 모두 그두라의 자손이다.
  5. 아브라함은 자기 재산을 모두 이삭에게 물려 주고,
  1. Now Abraham took another wife, whose name was Keturah.
  2. She bore to him Zimran and Jokshan and Medan and Midian and Ishbak and Shuah.
  3. Jokshan became the father of Sheba and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim and Letushim and Leummim.
  4. The sons of Midian were Ephah and Epher and Hanoch and Abida and Eldaah. All these were the sons of Keturah.
  5. Now Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac;
  1. 첩들에게서 얻은 아들들에게도 한 몫씩 나누어 주었는데, 그가 죽기 전에 첩들에게서 얻은 아들들을 동쪽 곧 동방 땅으로 보내어서, 자기 아들 이삭과 떨어져서 살게 하였다.
  2. 아브라함이 누린 햇수는 모두 백일흔다섯 해이다.
  3. 아브라함은 자기가 받은 목숨대로 다 살고, 아주 늙은 나이에 기운이 다하여서, 숨을 거두고 세상을 떠나, 조상들이 간 길로 갔다.
  4. 그의 아들 이삭과 이스마엘이 그를 막벨라 굴에 안장하였다. 그 굴은 마므레 근처, 헷 사람 소할의 아들 에브론의 밭에 있다.
  5. 그 밭은 아브라함이 헷 사람에게서 산 것이다. 바로 그 곳에서 아브라함은 그의 아내 사라와 합장되었다.
  1. but to the sons of his concubines, Abraham gave gifts while he was still living, and sent them away from his son Isaac eastward, to the land of the east.
  2. These are all the years of Abraham's life that he lived, one hundred and seventy-five years.
  3. Abraham breathed his last and died in a ripe old age, an old man and satisfied with life; and he was gathered to his people.
  4. Then his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, facing Mamre,
  5. the field which Abraham purchased from the sons of Heth; there Abraham was buried with Sarah his wife.
  1. 아브라함이 죽은 뒤에, 하나님은 아브라함의 아들 이삭에게 복을 주셨다. 그 때에 이삭은 브엘라해로이 근처에서 살고 있었다.
  2. 사라의 여종인 이집트 사람 하갈과 아브라함 사이에서 태어난 아들 이스마엘의 족보는 이러하다.
  3. 이스마엘의 아들들의 이름을 태어난 순서를 따라서 적으면, 다음과 같다. 이스마엘의 맏아들은 느바욧이다. 그 아래는 게달과 앗브엘과 밉삼과
  4. 미스마와 두마와 맛사와
  5. 하닷과 데마와 여두르와 나비스와 게드마가 있다.
  1. It came about after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac lived by Beer-lahai-roi.
  2. Now these are the records of the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's maid, bore to Abraham;
  3. and these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, in the order of their birth: Nebaioth, the firstborn of Ishmael, and Kedar and Adbeel and Mibsam
  4. and Mishma and Dumah and Massa,
  5. Hadad and Tema, Jetur, Naphish and Kedemah.
  1. 이 열둘은 이스마엘이 낳은 아들의 이름이면서, 동시에 마을과 부락의 이름이며, 또한 이 사람들이 세운 열두 지파의 통치자들의 이름이기도 하다.
  2. 이스마엘은 모두 백서른일곱 해를 누린 뒤에, 기운이 다하여서 숨을 거두고, 세상을 떠나 조상에게로 돌아갔다.
  3. 그의 자손은 모두 하윌라로부터 수르 지방에 이르는 그 일대에 흩어져서 살았다. 수르는 이집트의 동북쪽 경계 부근 앗시리아로 가는 길에 있다. 그들은 모든 형제들과는 적대감을 가지고 살았다.
  4. 다음은 아브라함의 아들 이삭의 족보이다. 아브라함이 이삭을 낳았고,
  5. 이삭은 마흔 살 때에 리브가와 결혼하였다. 리브가는 밧단아람의 아람 사람인 브두엘의 딸이며, 아람 사람인 라반의 누이이다.
  1. These are the sons of Ishmael and these are their names, by their villages, and by their camps; twelve princes according to their tribes.
  2. These are the years of the life of Ishmael, one hundred and thirty-seven years; and he breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his people.
  3. They settled from Havilah to Shur which is east of Egypt as one goes toward Assyria; he settled in defiance of all his relatives.
  4. Now these are the records of the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham became the father of Isaac;
  5. and Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean of Paddan-aram, the sister of Laban the Aramean, to be his wife.
  1. 이삭은 자기 아내가 임신하지 못하므로, 아내가 아이를 가지게 해 달라고 주님께 기도하였다. 주님께서 이삭의 기도를 들어 주시니, 그의 아내 리브가가 임신하게 되었다.
  2. 그런데 리브가는 쌍둥이를 배었는데, 그 둘이 태 안에서 서로 싸웠다. 그래서 리브가는 "이렇게 괴로워서야, 내가 어떻게 견디겠는가?" 하면서, 이 일을 알아보려고 주님께로 나아갔다.
  3. 주님께서 그에게 대답하셨다. "두 민족이 너의 태 안에 들어 있다. 너의 태 안에서 두 백성이 나뉠 것이다. 한 백성이 다른 백성보다 강할 것이다. 형이 동생을 섬길 것이다."
  4. 달이 차서, 몸을 풀 때가 되었다. 태 안에는 쌍둥이가 들어 있었다.
  5. 먼저 나온 아이는 살결이 붉은데다가 온몸이 털투성이어서, 이름을 에서라고 하였다.
  1. Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife, because she was barren; and the LORD answered him and Rebekah his wife conceived.
  2. But the children struggled together within her; and she said, "If it is so, why then am I this way?" So she went to inquire of the LORD.
  3. The LORD said to her, "Two nations are in your womb; And two peoples will be separated from your body; And one people shall be stronger than the other; And the older shall serve the younger."
  4. When her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.
  5. Now the first came forth red, all over like a hairy garment; and they named him Esau.
  1. 이어서 동생이 나오는데, 그의 손이 에서의 발뒤꿈치를 잡고 있어서, 이름을 야곱이라고 하였다. 리브가가 이 쌍둥이를 낳았을 때에, 이삭의 나이는 예순 살이었다.
  2. 두 아이가 자라, 에서는 날쌘 사냥꾼이 되어서 들에서 살고, 야곱은 성격이 차분한 사람이 되어서, 주로 집에서 살았다.
  3. 이삭은 에서가 사냥해 온 고기에 맛을 들이더니 에서를 사랑하였고, 리브가는 야곱을 사랑하였다.
  4. 한 번은, 야곱이 죽을 끓이고 있는데, 에서가 허기진 채 들에서 돌아와서,
  5. 야곱에게 말하였다. "그 붉은 죽을 좀 빨리 먹자. 배가 고파 죽겠다." 에서가 '붉은' 죽을 먹고 싶어 하였다고 해서, 에서를 에돔이라고도 한다.
  1. Afterward his brother came forth with his hand holding on to Esau's heel, so his name was called Jacob; and Isaac was sixty years old when she gave birth to them.
  2. When the boys grew up, Esau became a skillful hunter, a man of the field, but Jacob was a peaceful man, living in tents.
  3. Now Isaac loved Esau, because he had a taste for game, but Rebekah loved Jacob.
  4. When Jacob had cooked stew, Esau came in from the field and he was famished;
  5. and Esau said to Jacob, "Please let me have a swallow of that red stuff there, for I am famished." Therefore his name was called Edom.
  1. 야곱이 대답하였다. "형은 먼저, 형이 가진 맏아들의 권리를 나에게 파시오."
  2. 에서가 말하였다. "이것 봐라, 나는 지금 죽을 지경이다. 지금 나에게 맏아들의 권리가 뭐 그리 대단한 거냐?"
  3. 야곱이 말하였다. "나에게 맹세부터 하시오." 그러자 에서가 야곱에게 맏아들의 권리를 판다고 맹세하였다.
  4. 야곱이 빵과 팥죽 얼마를 에서에게 주니, 에서가 먹고 마시고, 일어나서 나갔다. 에서는 이와 같이 맏아들의 권리를 가볍게 여겼다.
  1. But Jacob said, "First sell me your birthright."
  2. Esau said, "Behold, I am about to die; so of what use then is the birthright to me?"
  3. And Jacob said, "First swear to me"; so he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob.
  4. Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew; and he ate and drank, and rose and went on his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.
 
  이삭과 아비멜렉(26:1-26:22)    
 
  1. 일찍이 아브라함 때에 그 땅에 흉년이 든 적이 있는데, 이삭 때에도 그 땅에 흉년이 들어서, 이삭이 그랄의 블레셋 왕 아비멜렉에게로 갔다.
  2. 주님께서 이삭에게 나타나셔서, 말씀하셨다. "이집트로 가지 말아라. 내가 너에게 살라고 한 이 땅에서 살아라.
  3. 네가 이 땅에서 살아야, 내가 너를 보살피고, 너에게 복을 주겠다. 이 모든 땅을, 내가 너와 너의 자손에게 주겠다. 내가 너의 아버지 아브라함에게 맹세한 약속을 이루어서,
  4. 너의 자손이 하늘의 별처럼 많아지게 하고, 그들에게 이 땅을 다 주겠다. 이 세상 모든 민족이 네 씨의 덕을 입어서, 복을 받게 하겠다.
  5. 이것은, 아브라함이 나의 말에 순종하고, 나의 명령과 나의 계명과 나의 율례와 나의 법도를 잘 지켰기 때문이다."
  1. Now there was a famine in the land, besides the previous famine that had occurred in the days of Abraham So Isaac went to Gerar, to Abimelech king of the Philistines.
  2. The LORD appeared to him and said, "Do not go down to Egypt; stay in the land of which I shall tell you.
  3. "Sojourn in this land and I will be with you and bless you, for to you and to your descendants I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to your father Abraham.
  4. "I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven, and will give your descendants all these lands; and by your descendants all the nations of the earth shall be blessed;
  5. because Abraham obeyed Me and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes and My laws."
  1. 그래서 이삭은 그랄에 그대로 머물러 있었다.
  2. 그 곳 사람들이 이삭의 아내를 보고서, 그에게 물었다. "그 여인이 누구요?" 이삭이 대답하였다. "그는 나의 누이요." 이삭은 "그는 나의 아내요" 하고 말하기가 무서웠다. 이삭은, 리브가가 예쁜 여자이므로, 그 곳 사람들이 리브가를 빼앗으려고 자기를 죽일지도 모른다고 생각하였기 때문이다.
  3. 이삭이 그 곳에 자리를 잡고 산 지 꽤 오래 된 어느 날, 블레셋 왕 아비멜렉은, 이삭이 그 아내 리브가를 애무하는 것을 우연히 창으로 보게 되었다.
  4. 아비멜렉은 이삭을 불러들여서 나무랐다. "그는 틀림없이 당신의 아내인데, 어쩌려고 당신은 그를 누이라고 말하였소?" 이삭이 대답하였다. "저 여자 때문에 제가 혹시 목숨을 잃을지도 모른다고 생각하였기 때문입니다."
  5. 아비멜렉이 말하였다. "어쩌려고 당신이 우리에게 이렇게 하였소? 하마터면, 나의 백성 가운데서 누구인가가 당신의 아내를 건드릴 뻔하지 않았소? 괜히 당신 때문에 우리가 죄인이 될 뻔하였소."
  1. So Isaac lived in Gerar.
  2. When the men of the place asked about his wife, he said, "She is my sister," for he was afraid to say, "my wife," thinking, "the men of the place might kill me on account of Rebekah, for she is beautiful."
  3. It came about, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out through a window, and saw, and behold, Isaac was caressing his wife Rebekah.
  4. Then Abimelech called Isaac and said, "Behold, certainly she is your wife! How then did you say, 'She is my sister'?" And Isaac said to him, "Because I said, 'I might die on account of her.'"
  5. Abimelech said, "What is this you have done to us? One of the people might easily have lain with your wife, and you would have brought guilt upon us."
  1. 아비멜렉은 모든 백성에게 경고를 내렸다. "이 남자와 그 아내를 건드리는 사람은 사형을 받을 것이다."
  2. 이삭이 그 땅에서 농사를 지어서, 그 해에 백 배의 수확을 거두어들였다. 주님께서 그에게 복을 주셨기 때문이다.
  3. 그는 부자가 되었다. 재산이 점점 늘어서, 아주 부유하게 되었다.
  4. 그가 양 떼와 소 떼, 남종과 여종을 많이 거느리게 되니, 블레셋 사람들이 그를 시기하기 시작하였다.
  5. 그래서 그들은 이삭의 아버지 아브라함 때에 아브라함의 종들이 판 모든 우물을 막고, 흙으로 메워 버렸다.
  1. So Abimelech charged all the people, saying, "He who touches this man or his wife shall surely be put to death."
  2. Now Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. And the LORD blessed him,
  3. and the man became rich, and continued to grow richer until he became very wealthy;
  4. for he had possessions of flocks and herds and a great household, so that the Philistines envied him.
  5. Now all the wells which his father's servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines stopped up by filling them with earth.
  1. 아비멜렉이 이삭에게 말하였다. "우리에게서 떠나가시오. 이제 당신은 우리보다 훨씬 강하오."
  2. 이삭은 그 곳을 떠나서, 그랄 평원에다가 장막을 치고서, 거기에 자리를 잡고 살았다.
  3. 이삭은 자기 아버지 아브라함 때에 팠던 우물들을 다시 팠다. 이 우물들은, 아브라함이 죽자, 블레셋 사람들이 메워 버린 것들이다. 이삭은 그 우물들을 그의 아버지 아브라함이 부르던 이름 그대로 불렀다.
  4. 이삭의 종들이 그랄 평원에서 우물을 파다가, 물이 솟아나는 샘줄기를 찾아냈다.
  5. 샘이 터지는 바람에, 그랄 지방 목자들이 그 샘줄기를 자기들의 것이라고 주장하면서, 이삭의 목자들과 다투었다. 우물을 두고서 다투었다고 해서, 이삭은 이 우물을 에섹이라고 불렀다.
  1. Then Abimelech said to Isaac, "Go away from us, for you are too powerful for us."
  2. And Isaac departed from there and camped in the valley of Gerar, and settled there.
  3. Then Isaac dug again the wells of water which had been dug in the days of his father Abraham, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death of Abraham; and he gave them the same names which his father had given them.
  4. But when Isaac's servants dug in the valley and found there a well of flowing water,
  5. the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with the herdsmen of Isaac, saying, "The water is ours!" So he named the well Esek, because they contended with him.
  1. 이삭의 종들이 또 다른 우물을 팠는데, 그랄 지방 목자들이 또 시비를 걸었다. 그래서 이삭은 그 우물 이름을 싯나라고 하였다.
  2. 이삭이 거기에서 옮겨서, 또 다른 우물을 팠는데, 그 때에는 아무도 시비를 걸지 않았다. 그래서 그는 "이제 주님께서 우리가 살 곳을 넓히셨으니, 여기에서 우리가 번성하게 되었다" 하면서, 그 우물 이름을 르호봇이라고 하였다.
  1. Then they dug another well, and they quarreled over it too, so he named it Sitnah.
  2. He moved away from there and dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it; so he named it Rehoboth, for he said, "At last the LORD has made room for us, and we will be fruitful in the land."
