창세기 34:1-35:29

 야곱의 딸 디나가 세겜에게 추행당하고 그의 구혼을 받았다. 이에 노한 야곱의 아들들은 그들을 속여 세겜의 모든 남자들이 할례를 받게 한 후, 그들이 고통할 때 그들을 모두 죽이고 성을 약탈했다. 야곱이 하나님의 명령에 따라 벧엘로 올라가서 단을 쌓자 하나님께서는 그에게 땅과 자손의 복을 약속하셨다. 그 후 라헬은 베냐민을 낳다가 죽어 장사되었고, 이삭도 180세에 죽어 장사되었다.
  
  세겜 사건(34:1-34:31)    
 
  1. 레아와 야곱 사이에서 태어난 딸 디나가 그 지방 여자들을 보러 나갔다.
  2. 히위 사람 하몰에게는 세겜이라는 아들이 있는데, 세겜은 그 지역의 통치자였다. 세겜이 디나를 보자, 데리고 가서 욕을 보였다.
  3. 그는 야곱의 딸 디나에게 마음을 빼앗겼다. 그는 디나를 사랑하기 때문에, 디나에게 사랑을 고백하였다.
  4. 세겜은 자기 아버지 하몰에게 말하였다. "이 처녀를 아내로 삼게 해주십시오."
  5. 야곱이 자기의 딸 디나의 몸을 세겜이 더럽혔다는 말을 들을 때에, 그의 아들들은 가축 떼와 함께 들에 있었다. 야곱은 아들들이 돌아올 때까지 이 일을 입 밖에 내지 않았다.
  1. Now Dinah the daughter of Leah, whom she had borne to Jacob, went out to visit the daughters of the land.
  2. When Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the land, saw her, he took her and lay with her by force.
  3. He was deeply attracted to Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the girl and spoke tenderly to her.
  4. So Shechem spoke to his father Hamor, saying, "Get me this young girl for a wife."
  5. Now Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter; but his sons were with his livestock in the field, so Jacob kept silent until they came in.
  1. 세겜의 아버지 하몰이 청혼을 하려고, 야곱을 만나러 왔다.

  4. 우리 사이에 서로 통혼할 것을 제의합니다. 따님들을 우리 쪽으로 시집보내어 주시고, 우리의 딸들도 며느리로 데려가시기 바랍니다.
  5. 그리고 우리와 함께 섞여서, 여기에서 같이 살기를 바랍니다. 땅이 여러분 앞에 있습니다. 이 땅에서 자리를 잡고, 여기에서 장사도 하고, 여기에서 재산을 늘리십시오."
  1. Then Hamor the father of Shechem went out to Jacob to speak with him.
  2. Now the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it; and the men were grieved, and they were very angry because he had done a disgraceful thing in Israel by lying with Jacob's daughter, for such a thing ought not to be done.
  3. But Hamor spoke with them, saying, "The soul of my son Shechem longs for your daughter; please give her to him in marriage.
  4. "Intermarry with us; give your daughters to us and take our daughters for yourselves.
  5. "Thus you shall live with us, and the land shall be open before you; live and trade in it and acquire property in it."
  1. 세겜도 디나의 아버지와 오라버니들에게 간청하였다. "저를 너그러이 보아 주시기 바랍니다. 원하시는 것은 무엇이든지 드리겠습니다.
  2. 신부를 데려오는 데 치러야 할 값을 정해 주시고, 제가 가져 와야 할 예물의 값도 정해 주시기 바랍니다. 아무리 많이 요구하셔도, 요구하시는 만큼 제가 치르겠습니다. 다만 제가 바라는 것은, 디나를 저의 아내로 주시기를 바라는 것뿐입니다."
  3. 야곱의 아들들은, 세겜이 그들의 누이 디나를 욕보였으므로, 세겜과 그의 아버지 하몰에게 짐짓 속임수를 썼다.
  4. 그들은 세겜과 하몰에게 이렇게 말하였다. "우리는 그렇게 할 수 없습니다. 할례를 받지 않은 남자에게 우리의 누이를 줄 수 없습니다. 그렇게 하는 것은 우리에게 부끄러운 일입니다.
  5. 조건이 하나 있습니다. 당신들 쪽에서 남자들이 우리처럼 모두 할례를 받겠다고 하면, 그 청혼을 받아들이겠습니다.
  1. Shechem also said to her father and to her brothers, "If I find favor in your sight, then I will give whatever you say to me.
  2. "Ask me ever so much bridal payment and gift, and I will give according as you say to me; but give me the girl in marriage."
  3. But Jacob's sons answered Shechem and his father Hamor with deceit, because he had defiled Dinah their sister.
  4. They said to them, "We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a disgrace to us.
  5. "Only on this condition will we consent to you: if you will become like us, in that every male of you be circumcised,
  1. 그렇게 하면, 우리가 딸들을 당신들에게로 시집도 보내고, 당신네 딸들을 우리가 며느리로 삼으며, 당신들과 함께 여기에서 살고, 더불어 한 겨레가 되겠습니다.

  3. 하몰과 그의 아들 세겜은, 야곱의 아들들이 내놓은 제안을 좋게 여겼다.
  4. 그래서 그 젊은이는 시간을 지체하지 않고, 그들이 제안한 것을 실천으로 옮겼다. 그만큼 그는 야곱의 딸을 좋아하였다. 세겜은 자기 아버지의 집안에서 가장 존귀한 인물이었다.
  5. 하몰과 그의 아들 세겜이 성문께로 가서, 그들의 성읍 사람들에게 말하였다.
  1. then we will give our daughters to you, and we will take your daughters for ourselves, and we will live with you and become one people.
  2. "But if you will not listen to us to be circumcised, then we will take our daughter and go."
  3. Now their words seemed reasonable to Hamor and Shechem, Hamor's son.
  4. The young man did not delay to do the thing, because he was delighted with Jacob's daughter. Now he was more respected than all the household of his father.
  5. So Hamor and his son Shechem came to the gate of their city and spoke to the men of their city, saying,
  1. "이 사람들이 우리에게 우호적입니다. 그러니 그들이 우리 땅에서 살면서, 우리와 함께 물건을 서로 사고팔게 합시다. 이 땅은 그들을 받아들일 수 있을 만큼 넓습니다. 우리가 그들의 딸들과 결혼할 수 있게 하고, 그들은 우리의 딸들과 결혼할 수 있게 합시다.
  2. 그러나 이 사람들이 기꺼이 우리와 한 겨레가 되어서, 우리와 함께 사는 데는, 조건이 하나 있습니다. 그들이 할례를 받는 것처럼, 우리쪽 남자들이 모두 할례를 받아야 한다는 것입니다.
  3. 그렇게 하면, 그들의 양 떼와 재산과 집짐승이 모두 우리의 것이 되지 않겠습니까? 다만, 그들이 우리에게 요구하는 것은 그대로 합시다. 우리가 그렇게 할례를 받으면, 그들이 우리와 함께 살 것입니다."
  4. 그 성읍의 모든 장정이, 하몰과 그의 아들 세겜이 제안한 것을 좋게 여겼다. 그래서 그 장정들은 모두 할례를 받았다.
  5. 사흘 뒤에, 장정 모두가 아직 상처가 아물지 않아서 아파하고 있을 때에, 야곱의 아들들 곧 디나의 친오라버니들인 시므온과 레위가, 칼을 들고 성읍으로 쳐들어가서, 순식간에 남자들을 모조리 죽였다.
  1. "These men are friendly with us; therefore let them live in the land and trade in it, for behold, the land is large enough for them. Let us take their daughters in marriage, and give our daughters to them.
  2. "Only on this condition will the men consent to us to live with us, to become one people: that every male among us be circumcised as they are circumcised.
  3. "Will not their livestock and their property and all their animals be ours? Only let us consent to them, and they will live with us."
  4. All who went out of the gate of his city listened to Hamor and to his son Shechem, and every male was circumcised, all who went out of the gate of his city.
  5. Now it came about on the third day, when they were in pain, that two of Jacob's sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brothers, each took his sword and came upon the city unawares, and killed every male.
  1. 그들은 하몰과 그의 아들 세겜도 칼로 쳐서 죽이고, 세겜의 집에 있는 디나를 데려왔다.
  2. 야곱의 다른 아들들은, 죽은 시체에 달려들어서 털고, 그들의 누이가 욕을 본 그 성읍을 약탈하였다.

  1. They killed Hamor and his son Shechem with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah from Shechem's house, and went forth.
  2. Jacob's sons came upon the slain and looted the city, because they had defiled their sister.
  3. They took their flocks and their herds and their donkeys, and that which was in the city and that which was in the field;
  4. and they captured and looted all their wealth and all their little ones and their wives, even all that was in the houses.
  5. Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, "You have brought trouble on me by making me odious among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites; and my men being few in number, they will gather together against me and attack me and I will be destroyed, I and my household."
  1. 그들이 대답하였다. "그가 우리 누이를 창녀 다루듯이 하는 데도, 그대로 두라는 말입니까?"
  1. But they said, "Should he treat our sister as a harlot?"
 
  벧엘로 올라간 야곱(35:1-35:29)    
 
  1. 하나님이 야곱에게 말씀하셨다. "어서 베델로 올라가, 거기에서 살아라. 네가 너의 형 에서 앞에서 피해 도망칠 때에, 너에게 나타난 그 하나님께 제단을 쌓아서 바쳐라."
  2. 야곱은, 자기의 가족과 자기가 거느리고 있는 모든 사람에게 명령하였다. "너희가 가지고 있는 이방 신상들을 다 버려라. 몸을 깨끗이 씻고, 옷을 갈아입어라.
  3. 이제 우리는 이 곳을 떠나서, 베델로 올라간다. 거기에다 나는, 내가 고생할 때에 나의 간구를 들어 주시고, 내가 가는 길 어디에서나 나와 함께 다니면서 보살펴 주신, 그 하나님께 제단을 쌓아서 바치고자 한다."
  4. 그들은, 자기들이 가지고 있는 모든 이방 신상과 귀에 걸고 있는 귀고리를 야곱에게 가져 왔다. 야곱은 그것들을 세겜 근처 상수리나무 밑에 묻었다.
  5. 그런 다음에 그들은 길을 떠났다. 하나님이 사방에 있는 모든 성읍 사람을 두려워 떨게 하셨으므로, 아무도 야곱의 아들들을 추격하지 못하였다.
  1. Then God said to Jacob, "Arise, go up to Bethel and live there, and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau."
  2. So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, "Put away the foreign gods which are among you, and purify yourselves and change your garments;
  3. and let us arise and go up to Bethel, and I will make an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me wherever I have gone."
  4. So they gave to Jacob all the foreign gods which they had and the rings which were in their ears, and Jacob hid them under the oak which was near Shechem.
  5. As they journeyed, there was a great terror upon the cities which were around them, and they did not pursue the sons of Jacob.
  1. 야곱과, 그가 거느린 모든 사람이, 가나안 땅 루스 곧 베델에 이르렀다.
  2. 야곱이 거기에서 제단을 쌓은 뒤에, 그가 형을 피해서 떠날 때에, 베델에서 하나님이 나타나신 것을 생각하고, 그 곳 이름을 엘베델이라고 하였다.

  1. So Jacob came to Luz (that is, Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people who were with him.
  2. He built an altar there, and called the place El-bethel, because there God had revealed Himself to him when he fled from his brother.
  3. Now Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, died, and she was buried below Bethel under the oak; it was named Allon-bacuth.
  4. Then God appeared to Jacob again when he came from Paddan-aram, and He blessed him.
  5. God said to him, "Your name is Jacob; You shall no longer be called Jacob, But Israel shall be your name." Thus He called him Israel.
  1. 하나님이 그에게 말씀하셨다. "나는 전능한 하나님이다. 너는 생육하고 번성할 것이다. 한 민족과 많은 갈래의 민족이 너에게서 나오고, 너의 자손에게서 왕들이 나올 것이다.
  2. 내가 아브라함과 이삭에게 준 땅을 너에게 주고, 그 땅을 내가 너의 자손에게도 주겠다."
  3. 그런 다음에 하나님은 야곱과 말씀하시던 곳을 떠나서 올라가셨다.
  4. 야곱은 하나님이 자기와 말씀을 나누시던 곳에 기둥 곧 돌기둥을 세우고, 그 위에 부어 드리는 제물을 붓고, 그 위에 기름을 부었다.
  5. 야곱은 하나님이 자기와 말씀을 나누시던 곳의 이름을 베델이라고 하였다.
  1. God also said to him, "I am God Almighty; Be fruitful and multiply; A nation and a company of nations shall come from you, And kings shall come forth from you.
  2. "The land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give it to you, And I will give the land to your descendants after you."
  3. Then God went up from him in the place where He had spoken with him.
  4. Jacob set up a pillar in the place where He had spoken with him, a pillar of stone, and he poured out a drink offering on it; he also poured oil on it.
  5. So Jacob named the place where God had spoken with him, Bethel.
  1. 그들이 베델을 떠나 에브랏에 아직 채 이르기 전에, 라헬이 몸을 풀게 되었는데, 고통이 너무 심하였다.
  2. 아이를 낳느라고 산고에 시달리는데, 산파가 라헬에게 말하였다. "두려워하지 마셔요. 또 아들을 낳으셨어요."

  1. Then they journeyed from Bethel; and when there was still some distance to go to Ephrath, Rachel began to give birth and she suffered severe labor.
  2. When she was in severe labor the midwife said to her, "Do not fear, for now you have another son."
  3. It came about as her soul was departing (for she died), that she named him Ben-oni; but his father called him Benjamin.
  4. So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).
  5. Jacob set up a pillar over her grave; that is the pillar of Rachel's grave to this day.
  1. 이스라엘이 다시 길을 떠나서, 에델 망대 건너편에 자리를 잡고 장막을 쳤다.
  2. 이스라엘이 바로 그 지역에서 머물 때에, 르우벤이 아버지의 첩 빌하를 범하였는데, 이스라엘에게 이 소식이 들어갔다. 야곱의 아들은 열둘이다.
  3. 레아에게서 얻은 아들은 야곱의 맏아들 르우벤과 시므온과 레위와 유다와 잇사갈과 스불론이다.

  1. Then Israel journeyed on and pitched his tent beyond the tower of Eder.
  2. It came about while Israel was dwelling in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine, and Israel heard of it.
  3. the sons of Leah: Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, then Simeon and Levi and Judah and Issachar and Zebulun;
  4. the sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin;
  5. and the sons of Bilhah, Rachel's maid: Dan and Naphtali;
  1. 레아의 몸종 실바에게서 얻은 아들은 갓과 아셀이다. 이들은 모두 야곱이 밧단아람에서 얻은 아들들이다.
  2. 야곱이 기럇아르바 근처 마므레로 가서, 자기 아버지 이삭에게 이르렀다. 기럇아르바는 아브라함과 이삭이 살던 헤브론이다.
  3. 이삭의 나이는 백여든 살이었다.
  4. 이삭은 늙고, 나이가 들어서, 목숨이 다하자, 죽어서 조상들 곁으로 갔다. 아들 에서와 야곱이 그를 안장하였다.
  1. and the sons of Zilpah, Leah's maid: Gad and Asher. These are the sons of Jacob who were born to him in Paddan-aram.
  2. Jacob came to his father Isaac at Mamre of Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had sojourned.
  3. Now the days of Isaac were one hundred and eighty years.
  4. Isaac breathed his last and died and was gathered to his people, an old man of ripe age; and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
