- 아, 주님, 그들이 사는 성에는, 보이느니 폭력과 분쟁뿐입니다. 그들을 말끔히 없애 버리시고, 그들의 언어가 혼잡하게 되도록 하여 주십시오.
- 그들이 밤낮으로 성벽 위를 돌아다니니 그 성 안에는 죄악과 고통이 가득 차 있구나.
- 파괴가 그 성 안에서 그치지 아니하고, 억압과 속임수가 그 광장에서 떠나지 않는구나.
- 나를 비난하는 자가 차라리, 내 원수였다면, 내가 견딜 수 있었을 것이다. 나를 미워하는 자가 차라리, 자기가 나보다 잘났다고 자랑하는 내 원수였다면, 나는 그들을 피하여서 숨기라도 하였을 것이다.
- 그런데 나를 비난하는 자가 바로 너라니! 나를 미워하는 자가 바로, 내 동료, 내 친구, 내 가까운 벗이라니!

- Confuse, O Lord, divide their tongues, For I have seen violence and strife in the city.
- Day and night they go around her upon her walls, And iniquity and mischief are in her midst.
- Destruction is in her midst; Oppression and deceit do not depart from her streets.
- For it is not an enemy who reproaches me, Then I could bear it; Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me, Then I could hide myself from him.
- But it is you, a man my equal, My companion and my familiar friend;

- 그들이 머무르는 곳, 그 곳에는 언제나 악이 넘쳐흐르는구나. 죽음아, 그들을 덮쳐라. 산 채로 그들을 음부로 데리고 가거라!
