- 내가 고난당할 때에, 나는 주님을 찾았습니다. 밤새도록 두 손 치켜 들고 기도를 올리면서, 내 마음은 위로를 받기조차 마다하였습니다.
- 내가 하나님을 생각하면서, 한숨을 짓습니다. 주님 생각에 골몰하면서, 내 마음이 약해집니다. （셀라）
- 주님께서 나를 뜬눈으로 밤을 지새우게 하시니, 내가 지쳐서 말할 힘도 없습니다.

- 밤에 부르던 내 노래를 생각하면서, 생각에 깊이 잠길 때에, 내 영혼이 속으로 묻기를
- "주님께서 나를 영원히 버리시는 것일까? 다시는, 은혜를 베풀지 않으시는 것일까?
- 한결같은 그분의 사랑도 이제는 끊기는 것일까? 그분의 약속도 이제는 영원히 끝나 버린 것일까?
- 하나님께서 은혜를 베푸시는 일을 잊으신 것일까? 그의 노여움이 그의 긍휼을 거두어들이신 것일까?" 하였습니다. （셀라）
