	사무엘상 22:1-23:29 다윗이 가드를 떠나 아둘람 굴로 피하자 사울 치하에서 억울한 일을 당한 사람들이 다윗을 따랐다. 사울은 아히멜렉이 다윗을 도왔다는 이유로 제사장들을 학살했다. 블레셋이 그일라를 약탈하자 다윗은 그일라를 구원해 주었다. 그러나 그들의 배반으로 사울의 추격을 받아, 다시 십 황무지로 도피했다. 다윗을 찾아온 요나단은 다윗이 왕이 될 것을 분명히 알고 있다고 하며 그를 위로했다.

	사울의 제사장 학살(22:1-22:23)

다윗은 거기에서 떠나, 아둘람 굴 속으로 몸을 피하였다. 그러자 형들과 온 집안이 그 소식을 듣고, 그 곳으로 내려가, 그에게 이르렀다.

그들뿐만이 아니라, 압제를 받는 사람들과 빚에 시달리는 사람들과 원통하고 억울한 일을 당한 사람들도, 모두 다윗의 주변으로 몰려들었다. 이렇게 해서 다윗은 그들의 우두머리가 되었는데, 사백여 명이나 되는 사람들이 그를 따랐다.

다윗은 거기에서 모압의 미스바로 가서 모압 왕에게 간청하였다. "내가 해야 할 일이 무엇인가를 하나님이 나에게 알려 주실 때까지, 나의 부모가 이 곳으로 들어와 임금님과 함께 머물도록 허락하여 주시기 바랍니다."

그리하여 다윗은 자기의 부모를 모압 왕에게 부탁하였다. 다윗이 산성에 머물러 있는 동안에, 다윗의 부모는 모압 왕과 함께 살았다.

그 때에 갓이라는 예언자가 다윗에게, 그 산성에 머물러 있지 말고 어서 유다 땅으로 들어가라고 재촉하였다. 그래서 다윗은 그 곳을 떠나서, 헤렛 숲으로 들어갔다.

So David departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam; and when his brothers and all his father's household heard of it, they went down there to him.

Everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him; and he became captain over them. Now there were about four hundred men with him.

And David went from there to Mizpah of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab, "Please let my father and my mother come and stay with you until I know what God will do for me."

Then he left them with the king of Moab; and they stayed with him all the time that David was in the stronghold.

The prophet Gad said to David, "Do not stay in the stronghold; depart, and go into the land of Judah." So David departed and went into the forest of Hereth.

하루는 사울이 기브아 산등성이의 에셀 나무 아래에서 창을 들고 앉아 있었다. 그의 신하들은 모두 그의 곁에 둘러 서 있었다. 거기에서 사울은 다윗이 부하들을 거느리고 나타났다는 말을 들었다.

사울이 둘러 서 있는 신하들에게 호통을 쳤다. "이 베냐민 사람들아, 똑똑히 들어라. 이새의 아들이 너희 모두에게 밭과 포도원을 나누어 주고, 너희를 모두 천부장이나 백부장으로 삼을 줄 아느냐?

그래서 너희가 모두 나를 뒤엎으려고 음모를 꾸몄더냐? 내 아들이 이새의 아들과 맹약하였을 때에도, 그것을 나에게 귀띔해 준 자가 하나도 없었다. 또 내 아들이 오늘 나의 신하 하나를 부추겨서 나를 죽이려고 매복시켰는데도, 너희들 가운데는 나를 염려하여 그것을 나에게 미리 귀띔해 준 자가 하나도 없었다."

바로 그 때에 사울의 신하들 가운데 끼여 있던 에돔 사람 도엑이 나서서 보고하였다. "제가 이새의 아들을 보았습니다. 그가 놉으로 와서 아히둡의 아들 아히멜렉과 만날 때였습니다.

그 때에 아히멜렉이, 다윗이 해야 할 일을 주님께 여쭈어 보고 나서, 그에게 먹을 것도 주고, 블레셋 사람 골리앗의 칼도 주었습니다."

Then Saul heard that David and the men who were with him had been discovered. Now Saul was sitting in Gibeah, under the tamarisk tree on the height with his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing around him.

Saul said to his servants who stood around him, "Hear now, O Benjamites! Will the son of Jesse also give to all of you fields and vineyards? Will he make you all commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds?

"For all of you have conspired against me so that there is no one who discloses to me when my son makes a covenant with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you who is sorry for me or discloses to me that my son has stirred up my servant against me to lie in ambush, as it is this day."

Then Doeg the Edomite, who was standing by the servants of Saul, said, "I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.

"He inquired of the LORD for him, gave him provisions, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine."

그러자 왕은 아히둡의 아들 제사장 아히멜렉은 물론, 놉에 있는 그의 집안 제사장들을 모두 불러들였다. 그리하여 그들이 모두 왕에게로 나아왔다.

사울이 호통을 쳤다. "아히둡의 아들은 똑똑히 들어라!" 아히멜렉이 대답하였다. "임금님, 말씀하십시오!"

사울이 그를 꾸짖었다. "네가 왜 이새의 아들과 함께 공모하여 나에게 맞서려고 하였느냐? 네가 왜 그에게 빵과 칼을 주고, 왜 그가 하여야 할 일을 하나님께 물어서, 그가 오늘날과 같이 일어나서 나를 죽이려고 매복하도록 하였느냐?"

그러자 아히멜렉이 왕에게 대답하였다. "임금님의 모든 신하들 가운데서 다윗만큼 믿을 만한 사람이 누구입니까? 더구나 그는 임금님의 사위인 동시에 경호실장이며, 이 궁중에서 매우 존귀한 사람이 아닙니까?

그가 할 일을 하나님께 여쭙는 일을, 제가 오늘에 와서 처음으로 시작한 것입니까? 전혀 그렇지 않습니다. 임금님은 이 종이나 이 종의 온 집안에 아무 허물도 돌리지 말아 주십시오. 이 종은 이런 일은 전혀 아는 바가 없습니다."

Then the king sent someone to summon Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father's household, the priests who were in Nob; and all of them came to the king.

Saul said, "Listen now, son of Ahitub." And he answered, "Here I am, my lord."

Saul then said to him, "Why have you and the son of Jesse conspired against me, in that you have given him bread and a sword and have inquired of God for him, so that he would rise up against me by lying in ambush as it is this day?"

Then Ahimelech answered the king and said, "And who among all your servants is as faithful as David, even the king's son-in-law, who is captain over your guard, and is honored in your house?

"Did I just begin to inquire of God for him today? Far be it from me! Do not let the king impute anything to his servant or to any of the household of my father, for your servant knows nothing at all of this whole affair."

그런데도 왕은 이런 선언을 내렸다. "아히멜렉은 들어라. 너는 어쨌든 너의 온 집안과 함께 죽어 마땅하다."

그리고 왕은 자기 곁에 둘러 서 있던 호위병들에게 명령하였다. "너희는 당장 달려들어 주님의 제사장들을 죽여라. 그들은 다윗과 손을 잡고 공모하였으며, 다윗이 도망하는 줄 알았으면서도 나에게 귀띔해 주지 않았기 때문이다." 그러나 왕의 신하들은 손을 들어 주님의 제사장들을 살해하기를 꺼렸다.

그러자 왕이 도엑에게 명하였다. "네가 달려들어서 저 제사장들을 죽여라." 그러자 에돔 사람 도엑이 서슴없이 달려들어서 그 제사장들을 죽였는데, 그가 그 날 죽인 사람은 모시 에봇을 입은 제사장만도 여든다섯 명이나 되었다.

사울은 제사장들이 살던 성읍 놉에까지 가서, 주민을 다 칼로 쳐죽였다. 그는 남자와 여자, 어린이와 젖먹이, 소 떼나 나귀 떼나 양 떼를 가리지 않고, 모두 칼로 쳐서 죽였다.

아히둡의 손자이며 아히멜렉의 아들인 아비아달은, 거기서 피하여 다윗에게로 도망하였다.

But the king said, "You shall surely die, Ahimelech, you and all your father's household!"

And the king said to the guards who were attending him, "Turn around and put the priests of the LORD to death, because their hand also is with David and because they knew that he was fleeing and did not reveal it to me " But the servants of the king were not willing to put forth their hands to attack the priests of the LORD.

Then the king said to Doeg, "You turn around and attack the priests." And Doeg the Edomite turned around and attacked the priests, and he killed that day eighty-five men who wore the linen ephod.

And he struck Nob the city of the priests with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and infants; also oxen, donkeys, and sheep he struck with the edge of the sword.

But one son of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David.

아비아달은 다윗에게, 사울이 주님의 제사장들을 몰살시켰다는 소식을 전하였다.

다윗이 아비아달에게 말하였다. "그 날 내가 에돔 사람 도엑을 거기에서 보고서, 그가 틀림없이 사울에게 고자질하겠다는 것을 그 때에 이미 짐작하였소. 제사장의 집안이 몰살당한 것은, 바로 내가 책임져야 하오.

이제 두려워하지 말고, 나와 함께 지냅시다. 이제 나의 목숨을 노리는 사람이 바로 당신의 목숨을 노리는 사람이기도 하니, 나와 함께 있으면 안전할 것이오."

Abiathar told David that Saul had killed the priests of the LORD.

Then David said to Abiathar, "I knew on that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul. I have brought about the death of every person in your father's household.

"Stay with me; do not be afraid, for he who seeks my life seeks your life, for you are safe with me."

	그일라를 구원한 다윗(23:1-23:29)

다윗은, 블레셋 사람이 그일라를 치고, 타작한 곡식을 마구 약탈하여 간다는 소식을 들었다.

그래서 다윗은 주님께 여쭈었다. "내가 출전하여 이 블레셋 사람을 쳐도 되겠습니까?" 그러자 주님께서 다윗에게 허락하셨다. "그렇게 하여라. 어서 출전하여 블레셋 족속을 치고, 그일라를 구해 주도록 하여라."

그러나 다윗의 부하들이 반대하고 나섰다. "우리는 여기 유다에서도 이미 가슴을 졸이며 살고 있는데, 우리가 그일라로 출전하여 블레셋 병력과 마주친다면, 얼마나 더 위험하겠습니까?"

다윗이 주님께 다시 여쭈어 보았다. 그런데도 주님께서는 똑같이 대답하셨다. "너는 어서 그일라로 가거라. 내가 블레셋 족속을 너의 손에 넘겨 주겠다."

그래서 다윗이 그일라로 출전하여 블레셋 사람과 싸웠다. 결국 그들을 쳐서 크게 무찔렀으며, 블레셋 사람의 집짐승들을 전리품으로 몰아 왔다. 다윗은 이렇게 그일라 주민을 구원해 주었다.

Then they told David, saying, "Behold, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah and are plundering the threshing floors."

So David inquired of the LORD, saying, "Shall I go and attack these Philistines?" And the LORD said to David, "Go and attack the Philistines and deliver Keilah."

But David's men said to him, "Behold, we are afraid here in Judah. How much more then if we go to Keilah against the ranks of the Philistines?"

Then David inquired of the LORD once more. And the LORD answered him and said, "Arise, go down to Keilah, for I will give the Philistines into your hand."

So David and his men went to Keilah and fought with the Philistines; and he led away their livestock and struck them with a great slaughter. Thus David delivered the inhabitants of Keilah.

（아히멜렉의 아들 아비아달은 그일라에 있는 다윗에게로 도망할 때에 에봇을 가지고 갔었다.）

한편 다윗이 그일라에 들어왔다는 소식이 사울에게 전해지니, 사울이 외쳤다. "이제는 하나님이 그 자를 나의 손에 넘겨 주셨다. 성문과 빗장이 있는 성읍으로 들어갔으니, 독 안에 든 쥐다."

그래서 사울은 군대를 소집하여, 그일라로 내려가서 다윗과 그의 부하들을 포위하게 하였다.

다윗은 사울이 자기를 해치려고 음모를 꾸미고 있다는 사실을 알고서, 제사장 아비아달에게 에봇을 가져오게 하였다.

다윗이 하나님께 아뢰었다. "주 이스라엘의 하나님, 사울이 나를 잡으려고 그일라로 와서 이 성읍을 멸망시키기로 결심하였다는 소식을, 이 종이 확실하게 들었습니다.

Now it came about, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David at Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.

When it was told Saul that David had come to Keilah, Saul said, "God has delivered him into my hand, for he shut himself in by entering a city with double gates and bars."

So Saul summoned all the people for war, to go down to Keilah to besiege David and his men.

Now David knew that Saul was plotting evil against him; so he said to Abiathar the priest, "Bring the ephod here."

Then David said, "O LORD God of Israel, Your servant has heard for certain that Saul is seeking to come to Keilah to destroy the city on my account.

그일라 주민이 나를 사울의 손에 넘겨 주겠습니까? 이 종이 들은 소문 그대로 사울이 내려오겠습니까? 주 이스라엘의 하나님, 이 종에게 대답하여 주십시오." 주님께서 대답하셨다. "그가 내려올 것이다."

다윗이 다시 한 번 여쭈었다. "그일라 주민이 정말로 나를 나의 부하들과 함께 사울의 손에 넘겨 주겠습니까?" 주님께서 대답하셨다. "넘겨 줄 것이다."

그래서 다윗은 육백 명쯤 되는 부하를 거느리고, 그일라에서 벗어나 떠돌아다녔다. 다윗이 그일라에서 빠져 나갔다는 소식이 사울에게 알려지니, 사울은 출동하려다가 그만두었다.

그리하여 다윗은 광야의 산성을 찾아다니며 숨어서 살았다. 그는 바로 십 광야의 산간지역에서 살았다. 그 동안 사울은 날마다 다윗을 찾았지만, 하나님이 다윗을 사울의 손에 넘겨 주지 않으셨다.

그래서 사울이 다윗의 목숨을 노리고 출동할 때마다, 다윗이 그것을 다 알고서 피하였다. 다윗이 십 광야의 호레스에 있을 때에,

"Will the men of Keilah surrender me into his hand? Will Saul come down just as Your servant has heard? O LORD God of Israel, I pray, tell Your servant." And the LORD said, "He will come down."

Then David said, "Will the men of Keilah surrender me and my men into the hand of Saul?" And the LORD said, "They will surrender you."

Then David and his men, about six hundred, arose and departed from Keilah, and they went wherever they could go. When it was told Saul that David had escaped from Keilah, he gave up the pursuit.

David stayed in the wilderness in the strongholds, and remained in the hill country in the wilderness of Ziph And Saul sought him every day, but God did not deliver him into his hand.

Now David became aware that Saul had come out to seek his life while David was in the wilderness of Ziph at Horesh.

사울의 아들 요나단이 호레스로 다윗을 찾아와서, 하나님을 굳게 의지하도록 격려하였다.

그는 다윗에게 말하였다. "전혀 두려워하지 말게. 자네를 해치려는 나의 아버지 사울의 세력이 자네에게 미치지 못할 걸세. 자네는 반드시 이스라엘의 왕이 될 걸세. 나는 자네의 버금가는 자리에 앉고 싶네. 이것은 나의 아버지 사울도 아시는 일일세."

이리하여 이 두 사람은 다시 주님 앞에서 우정의 언약을 맺었다. 그리고 다윗은 계속 호레스에 머물렀으나, 요나단은 다시 집으로 돌아갔다.

십 사람 몇이 기브아로 사울을 찾아 올라가서 밀고하였다. "다윗은 분명히, 우리가 있는 호레스 산성 속에 숨어 있습니다. 바로 여시몬 남쪽에 있는 하길라 산 속에 숨어 있습니다.

임금님이 지금 당장 내려가기를 원하신다면, 그렇게 하시기 바랍니다. 그를 잡아서 임금님의 손에 넘기는 일은, 저희가 맡아서 하겠습니다."

And Jonathan, Saul's son, arose and went to David at Horesh, and encouraged him in God.

Thus he said to him, "Do not be afraid, because the hand of Saul my father will not find you, and you will be king over Israel and I will be next to you; and Saul my father knows that also."

So the two of them made a covenant before the LORD; and David stayed at Horesh while Jonathan went to his house.

Then Ziphites came up to Saul at Gibeah, saying, "Is David not hiding with us in the strongholds at Horesh, on the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?

"Now then, O king, come down according to all the desire of your soul to do so; and our part shall be to surrender him into the king's hand."

사울이 말하였다. "당신들이 나를 생각하여 그토록 정성을 보였으니, 주님이 주시는 복을 받기를 바라오.

당신들은 가서 빈틈없이 준비하시오. 그 자가 도망다니는 곳이 어디이며, 누가 어디서 그 자를 보았는지, 자세히 알아보시오. 내가 듣는 바로는, 그는 매우 교활하오.

당신들은 그가 숨을 만한 모든 은신처를 자세히 살펴본 다음에, 틀림없는 정보를 가지고 나를 찾아오시오. 그러면 내가 당신들과 함께 가겠소. 그가 이 나라 안에 있기만 하면, 내가 유다의 마을들을 남김없이 다 뒤져서라도 그를 찾아내고야 말겠소."

이리하여 그들이 일어나 사울보다 먼저 십 광야로 떠나갔다. 이 때에 다윗과 그의 부하들은, 여시몬 남쪽의 아라바에 있는 마온 광야에 있었다.

사울도 부하들을 거느리고 다윗을 찾아 나섰다. 누가 이 사실을 다윗에게 알려 주니, 그가 마온 광야에 있는 바위로 내려갔다. 사울이 이 소식을 듣고, 곧 마온 광야로 가서 다윗을 추격하였다.

Saul said, "May you be blessed of the LORD, for you have had compassion on me.

"Go now, make more sure, and investigate and see his place where his haunt is, and who has seen him there; for I am told that he is very cunning.

"So look, and learn about all the hiding places where he hides himself and return to me with certainty, and I will go with you; and if he is in the land, I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah."

Then they arose and went to Ziph before Saul. Now David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the Arabah to the south of Jeshimon.

When Saul and his men went to seek him, they told David, and he came down to the rock and stayed in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard it, he pursued David in the wilderness of Maon.

이리하여 사울은 산 이쪽에서 쫓아가고, 다윗과 그의 부하들은 산 저쪽에서 도망하게 되었다. 이렇게 다윗은 사울을 피하여 급히 도망하고, 사울과 그의 부하들은 다윗과 그의 부하들을 잡으려고 포위를 하는데,

갑자기 전령 한 사람이 사울에게 와서, 블레셋 족속이 쳐들어왔으니, 어서 돌아가야 한다고 보고하였다.

사울은 다윗을 추격하다 말고 돌아가서, 블레셋 족속을 맞아 싸우러 나갔다. 그리하여 그 곳 이름을 셀라하마느곳이라고 부른다.

다윗은 엔게디 산성에 올라가 거기에 머물러 있었다.

Saul went on one side of the mountain, and David and his men on the other side of the mountain; and David was hurrying to get away from Saul, for Saul and his men were surrounding David and his men to seize them.

But a messenger came to Saul, saying, "Hurry and come, for the Philistines have made a raid on the land."

So Saul returned from pursuing David and went to meet the Philistines; therefore they called that place the Rock of Escape.

David went up from there and stayed in the strongholds of Engedi.
